Jan/Feb 05 Babies chat!

I did not realize I haven't posted or read in such a long time - things have been HECTIC at work and then evenings I am exhausted ... I am glad to see you are all here still as I have a question.
Lise started crying everynight - about 1hr30min after I firts put her down - I then give her a paci and back to sleep again and so it goes through the night (this from a baby who only woke around 6:00am after she was put down at 7:00) - I think teething might have something to do with it but I don't want her to start using me as a prop (she never cryed for her paci before - she at times refuses it!!) :?
Any ideas?
and on this note I will tell my REALLY BAD experience ... yesterday night Lise woke up at 3:30 am crying as if in pain She had a runny nose and was just feeling miserable the whole day. So I decide to give her some Panado (like Tylenol) ... I mixed the panado with some gripe water and added some rescue remedy (herbal product) for good measure - gave her the concoction as my dh calls it and back to bed. I suddenly sat right up as I realized I had give her 4ml in one go instead of the 0.6-1.2ml (infant drops so stronger!!) recommended for babies under 1 year. needless to say I panicked!!!! :!: Luckily my dh is a family doc so ... after a BIG SPEECH about needlessly medicating the baby - he told me it was OK. I gave her the ENTIRE dose for one day in ONE GO! I am still horrified in thinking I did this - my only excuse is I was still sleeping. I have now decided to premix her medicine for the night. Anyway - I am still feeling like a really bad mother :(
On a lighter note - Lise started going "forward". I would not call it crawling as yet - Pushes up on all fours and then pusher forward an plops down on her tummy!! To cute but not so good for the reflux.

has anyone started their period again yet? i guess i'm mainly asking those of you who were bf and then switched to ff.... but i'm just wondering. haven't seen mine yet & quit nursing over a month ago.
I got mine about 6 weeks after I finally quit - was VERY heavy and then again 2 weeks after I finshed I started again!! No fun welcoming this back into my life!!

Baby river dance!! what a great description ... yes I can relate!!!

We are FINALLY christening Lise on Sunday - had such a hard time finding a sunday my dh. my fil and my dad was all available ... so - just before she can walk to the alter - we will have the christening. My mom has been slaving away making (mostly handmade!!) a stunning dress - will post pictures next week.

Enjoy the weekend!! And I wish you all a RESTFULL night with NO NIGHT WAKINGS!!!

Debra - So sorry to hear you're having a tough few days/week.  Hugs and strength to you.

Branwen - Hope all is ok with Eirwen's hips.  And let's hope it doesn't go so far that she'll need to see the neurologist.  I'm completely on board with giving them meds when they're teething. The poor little things are in alot of pain, and I don't know about you, but when I'm in pain, a little Tylenol always helps.  So I figure if I'd give some to myself, she probably needs it too.  (poor little things)  I think Kinlagh is fighting with another tooth herself.  It's never easy.

Jaime - Question 1:  I see Luke already has a exersaucer.  I find 3 things work.  Putting Kinlagh in her exersaucer, giving her tummy time, and fresh air.  We often sit out on the front porch on her blanket and she loves it.
Question 2:  It took me about 2 months to get "regular" again after switching from bf to ff.
Baby riverdance - too cute.  I guess we're all there!

Heather - I thought I was pregnant the first few months after stopping bf too.  The same feelings throughout.  Weird.

Julieb - WOW, Asher slept thru (sort of).  Way to go.  And LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pics.  Especially the one with his little coy smile (2nd one).  What a cutie.

Nikki - Welcome back.  As for Lise's night waking 1.5hours after bedtime...Kinlagh has been doing the same but I don't think she fully wakes.  We just leave her and will only go to the rescue if it escalates.  I'm wondering, is Lise really crying or just settling herself.  Just a thought.

US - I guess you can see above what's going on.  Teething is the biggest issue.  But she's all in all, doing very well.  No complaints here.   Just looking forward to the long weekend to spend with DH.  In laws are here til who knows when, so it'll be nice to get out of the house with dh  (remember, no car during the week - eek!!).

Julie-those are awesome pictures!  You picked alot of them, and I can't blame you.  My favorite is the 3rd with his arms out front.  So sweet.

I'm going to post some pics from the park today in the Photo Gallery.  I forget about it, but it's always fun to look at pics.

Nikki-I'm with Michelle.  Give Lise a few minutes to make sure she's not just having a sleep transition and she might resettle.  Of course, you know her best and that might not be the case at all.

So, let's all try to get clips of "baby riverdance" and post them to jusspress.com.

Wow! So many new posts! You go girls!

Vidya - Beautiful picture! Love the earings.

Hello Schae! Glad to see your back!  :D

Deb - We're here for you!!!!!!! You just spill your guts whenever you feel like it! Doesn't it feel good to just get it out!?!?! I hope things are going better. I agree with Tarri, make yourself an appointment with the doc.

Jaime - Leah woke this morning at 6 am. Normal wake up time isn't until 6:30-7. Grrrr She was playing in the crib so I left her for a half and hour, till she got mad! I dont' know if this is related to going back to work or what?

Julieb - Let us know if you can hold Asher off of night feedings again tonight. Last night Leah went from 7-4:30 before waking. She is sooo sporadic!!!!!! GREAT photos of Asher. What a handsome little man!!!!

Branwen - The nerve of people huh? Leah always cried at the doctor's office. Hope everything turns out OK with the testing. Leah has to have an ultrasound next week. See bottom of message to see why.

Nikki- Good luck with the Christening. Your DH is a doc huh? That must be nice for you! So, now we expect you to give us expert advice in the medical department!

Michelle - I hope you get out of the house for the weekend! Car-less, mmmmmm, not sure I could do that all week! But I bet Kinlagh is on a good schedule becuase of it!

Sounds like fun Heather!!!!!

US - Well...... Nightime is so sporadic right now. Some nights she's up a lot, then last night she only got up once! Who knows........
Well, since everyone else has issues I guess I'll talk about ours too! Near the end of my pregnancy I had an ultrasound and they realized one of Leah's kidneys is larger than the other. Since then, she has had two ultrasounds. The latest revealed that the kidney is still engorged. SO, my family doc is sending us to a urologist (sp?) next Thursday. They think it is Kidney Reflux? Anyone heard of it? I looked it up on the net and in a nutshell when she pees some of it flushes back up into the kidney. So she's prone to UTI's and Kidney infections. Anyhow, we see the urologist next Thursday and he'll let us know more details. If anyone knows anymore about the subject let me know!  :D

Take care all and have a great weekend!!! I know I am looking forward to relaxing after work this week. If I could just get DH to let me stay home.......

Christine-I hope that is something that can correct itself.  I don't know anything about it, but I wonder if it's the same as what my SIL is experiencing.  She's pg and one kidney is larger than the other, causing her some discomfort and blood in the urine.  Poor Leah.
Branwen-I hope Eirwen's appt goes well.

And, girls, we're up to 40 pages already!

Hello everyone.

Well thank you for making me feel so welcome  :D  I’m looking forward to getting to know you all (and your children).
I’ve filled in the questionnaire below and have added “temperament” to the list too.

Cuteness – Extreme (but I am her mother!!)
Rolling – Yes, was only going one way for a while but has now got the gist of things and rolling both ways.
Crawling – Not yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if she just skips the crawling stage and goes straight to walking though as she loves to stand and holds herself up for ages.
Breast or Formula – Formula feed
Solids – Three times a day, cereal for breakfast, fruit for lunch and veggies for dinner.
Sleeping thru the night – has slept through the night (7pm – 7.15am ish) since 4 weeks old, except with growth spurt around 6 ½ months old where she decided she wanted more bottles and then kept waking once in the night (which I think was due to a sore tummy) but once the extra feed stopped she went straight back to sleeping through the night.
Naps – three naps a day.
Sitting unassisted – yes.
Teeth – Two (first one on 26th August, second one on 2nd September)
Dreamfeed – Yes, every night around 10pm (loves it and drinks the whole bottle)
Morning wake up time – 7.15am ish.
Bedtime – 7pm
Favorite toy – not fussy, any will do.
Favorite Activity – playing with her toys on her play mat.
Lovie – hasn’t got attached to anything yet.
Excema – Yes - on her face, legs and a wee bit on her belly.
Reflux – A little in the first few months but all settled now.
Back or Belly sleeper – Back sleeper
Swaddle – ½ swaddled (one arm out) but usually ends up with both out unless she’s really tired.
Paci – No - got rid of it when she was 6 ½ months old, took about 1 ½ hours of crying and then she was fine and hasn’t looked back since.
Sucks thumb – Occasionally, generally only if she’s tired.
Weight/Height – Approx 10kgs, very tall (everyone comments on her height). Have a plunket visit on Thursday (1st one since she was 5 ½ months) so will see how much she has grown then.
Eye/Hair color – Lovely brown eyes with long eyelashes, Sandy blonde hair colour.
Work or SAHM – Work 2 days a week at the office and do a wee bit of work from home. Crystal absolutely loves going to her carer who has a two year old daughter and they get on great.
Name & origin – Crystal. Her name was chosen by her dad (he said it popped into his head when he was driving home the night I had her) I wasn’t keen on it at first until my midwife visited the next day, she asked me if I liked crystals and when I said her I did she gave me one that she had had in her pocket the night Crystal was born. As far as I was concerned that was the sign that Crystal was to be her name and now I’m so glad we called her that as she suits it down to the ground.
I'm a - Girl/Boy - Girl
My Birthday – 2nd January 2005 at 12.30am (in labour all of new years day).
First, second, third child of how many? -  First of at least two more !!
Ticklish – a wee bit, not overly.
Temperament – Lovely, lovely girl. Sooooo placid and easily adaptable to most situations. She’s a Textbook girl with a few angel attributes thrown in. I am keeping everything crossed that any others will be just like her.

Crystal was a “whoops how did that happen” kind of pregnancy. It was totally unexpected but obviously the right time. I am so glad she happened, I couldn’t be without her. She is the best thing that ever happened to us.

Anyway, I hope I haven’t bored you all too much...

Sandie

P.S. I love the photos that you’ve put up on the thread of the kids, what beautiful, gorgeous children they are !!

Jaime- before I forget- do you have a jumper?  This might be really great for Luke. Eirwen was/is not very "active" physically (no rolling, rocking, pushing up etc) but also pounds the crib too.  It took her awhile to figure out the jumper but now that she has the hang of it she will gladly jump for 15 min or more  It does tire her out and is also helping her learn to put weight on her feet. :D  Also- I'm still nursing and no sign of the period as yet- although I do get that feeling occassionally in my low back but nothing happening yet.  My SIL said it took her a year to get back on track after stopping bf in the 2nd month.
