well the chair at the sink was a failure----Noah didn't understand what the heck was going on and actually he couldn't really reach the sink well enough, think I need a different chair.

so Stacy, when did Kaleb wake?
Noah actually woke last night at 9:30pm and was up til 9:50 or so---I had to go in a couple of times. maybe OT but what the heck we had 2 naps yesterday and the last one ended late and we put him to bed early. My DH thinks that the late nap and early bed wasn't a good combination
woke for the day at 6:30am
we went out and got home for 10am,
I tried for a nap at 10:15 but honestly he just screams and arches his back when I try and lay him down. He is not at all interested in his crib. screams when I leave etc. I mean really I don't think even offering it is worth it, I don't really want to teach him "cry and I come out", so maybe this 10min am nap is now futile---unless it happens in the car and I'm not willing to drive for 40min every morning.
so nap at 12, bed at 7pm tonight.

Any comments on this routine that maybe its the routine making him tired and cranky??? I'm outta my mind :(

I think you said it yourself....its a NEW routine!  I found a big difference between a 45min nap and a 30min one.  The 45min one seemed ok, cuz she was usually going thru/or just been thru a transition.  30mins, she is dead as a log and takes a good 5mins to wake.  The first few days resulted in tears, but that went away.

Wait til you see how hard they can be to wake at 15mins?!  Or how grouchy they can get!

US~
Well we succeeded at two -one nap days in a row.  1230-230 and all was good.  We had an early start this am, so its a two napper.  Maybe we'll just have to go with this for awhile....

It's never over, is it?

lol

I do try to go by A time versus the clock, but sometimes it backfires.  Today I put him down for his 30 min catnap and the booger woke up 10 mins on his own early.  I grabbed him out and went foodshopping.  He yawned the entire time :(  I already know his second nap is going to be cut short because of OT.

Carmela's mom, when we were on 30min am/90min pm naps---I tended to go by the clock, I didn't care if he was a bit OT for the first nap since I was waking anyhow.

So, does this mean I should be moving to 20 min am naps?  We are at 30 min now.

Yesterday's pm nap he played for an hour and then fell asleep for 1h 10 min.

Today he has been playing in his room for 1h 25mins and is still not asleep!  It is almost 3:00!  My little guy is very prone to OT so I'm not sure what tonight will bring  :-\  How much A time should I offer after a 20 min nap?

M and N's mom, I would take that playing for so long after a 30min am nap as possible nap refusal, since its already 3pm!

Go for the 20min nap and then crib 2hrs later, and see what happens.

How much "A" time are you doing before the second nap after a 30 min nap?  Maybe you can "up" that a bit?

well, today was much better with the short am/longer pm nap thing.  joey woke this morning about 7:00-ish went down for a nap at 10:15 and i woke him about 10:50.  then he went down for his pm nap about 2:00 (but started at 1:50) and slept until 3:30!!! ;D   much better little guy!!!!
i have to say, i HATE waking him from a nap.  i really have to talk myself into it and tell myself it is for a good reason.  so hopefully we will be on the right track with this and hoping we hit the right amount of A times for now.
stacy--what a good night sleep he had!
good luck over the weekend ladies!!! ;D

Layla, what's going on???

CJF -- so glad to hear it went better.  I feel the same way about waking him.  it breaks my heart. I tend to think of the longer break though and think "oh well its worth it"  ;)

Jackie, whats NOT going on!!! Isabella yesterday fell asleep in the car on the way home (my dh took her out in the morning) at 11.20 for 20mins (she woke up when they got home). Well guess what... that meant no nap for her ALL afternoon. I took her to my parents so that they would take her out and keep her nice and entertained. She hit the pillow at 5:55pm & fell asleep in 5 mins!!!

Jasmine's been doing fairly ok except yesterday decided to take a rubbish 1hr nap in the pm. So I put her to bed at 6.30pm and she woke up this morning at 5.34am >:(. I am so sick of these early wake ups. I have dealt with them for so long and only recently managed to get her to 6-6.30am start. Why out of all the days she had to do it yesteday and wake up Isabella. I was hoping Isabella would sleep in since she was so tired but her sister manages to wake her up every damn morning and its driving me crazy!!! I just want to DIE :'( :'( :'(. This whole transition is getting me down, having 2 children so close is getting me down, Jasmine's boost of SA & teething is getting me down and just about everything else out there is getting me down  :(

I am sorry.... I am really negative today.

Wow your kiddos really are close in age!  It'll get easier I promise.  My 2 are a little further apart, BUT let me tell you, we're dealing with similar stuff.  My 3 year old is dropping her nap (which is going better than I expected) but she's still cranky.  My son is going through a really really cranky time :(  I don't know if its teeth, or what, but I'm tired of his crying.  Today he took a 20 min morning nap a GREAT afternoon nap (2.5 hours) and continued to cry all evening.

They both are going to bed at 7:00 pm., which is GREAT, but Joey wakes up earlier than Carmela and wakes her up.  Without a nap, she REALLY needs 12 hours of sleep and lately she's not getting it :(

It's tough.

So you ready for a third yet?

Stacy - I promise, the transition does pass :)  Then your onto the next issue in parenting...whatever that may be :)  It's funny because my kids are only 2 years apart, and you won't believe how awful of a transition I had with Carmela, yet I forgot it all and keep telling DH "Carmela was NEVER this way".  Then I look back at an old post of mine on here complaining at how awful Carmela transitioned LOL .... Kaleb will be fine, and you'll forget too haha
