Kat, we just took a shorter night after a late catnap.  Or depending on how late the morning nap went, we did an early bedtime.  We really just played it by ear and cues.

Now, you just need to figure out which option suits your lo ;) that is the hard part lol.

Kat - once you've worked it out can you find the solution for me?!

Isabella woke at 5.30, up at 6.00 and was down for her am nap at 9.20. It took 5 mins or so for her to go to sleep and now I don't know when to wake her. I am thinking 10.10 and go for a 2nd nap at 1.30ish. It will be difficult though as I am looking after a friends little boy at lunchtime. It that goes to plan and she wakes at 3, I will got for a 6.30 bedtime again tonight. I just can't work out how much day sleep she needs 2.5hrs was working great for almost a week and she was waking at 6.45, then it went all wrong! Could it be more to do with A times than nap length?

Hi,
My DD is 9 1/2 months old.Over the past week, she has been waking earlier and earlier, this morning 5:40.She doesn't cry out, just murmers quietly to herself,so I think maybe she's half asleep.Anyway, she had been slepping through till 6:30,after I cut her daytime sleep down, she has 2 1/4 hrs split between morning and afternoon.,say 1 hr in am and 1 1/4 in pm.She was doing 4 hrs A Time, but even though she has been waking up early, she stays awake for ages, this morning, she went down at 10:40,after as I said stirring at 5:40.So I don't know if she's handling more A time in the morning,or she is just in light sleep when she wakes early,so is still getting her rest. She goes to bed at 7 ish every night. Now I don't know whether to cut her sleep down say by another 1/4 hr or cut her am nap down to 45 mins and give her 1 1/2 hrs in pm..would this help?I think she's working towards that 2-1 transition a little early, she's always handled long A times for her age.
Any advice,much appreciated,thanks.

Clare

ARGH.. she is still OT but this morning refused her nap at 9.30 so I tried to put her down at 11.30 as I'm pretty sure she was up at 6.00 (mummy was sooo tired after another night of wakings that for some time it seemed like I could hear a baby crying in my sleep then I realised it was Lily and woke up)  Don't know about her but Mummy is having an early night tonight  ;)  Anyhow she didn't settle till 11.50 after dose of Calpol, Ashton Parson Powders and Bonjela!  So we will see what time she wakes up from her 1 nap.  At this rate her bedtime will be 5.30/6pm till she leaves home  ::)

Kat, sorry I am a bit confused...what schedule are you on right now with your lo?

newmum....funny how we used to know exactly when lo woke up in the am's but now I am the same..."i think it was 6am".  I often find myself guessing as ds is often quiet for a bit before a hear him talking.  But I am also dozing in and out more so get more confused because of it!

After a successful 1 nap day, ds woke at a reasonable hour this am...6:15am.  We are back to 2 naps today.  I am not sure how often to try 1 nap days.  This is a really scary transition isn't it?!  I feel like it's do or die!

GOOD question, LOL!  Who knows?  She dropped a nap for two weeks, then the last two days she has needed a little extra catnap thrown in as she was getting too tired, but it didn't work so we'll keep experimenting with what works for her.  HOwever we have a fun Mom's group thing this morning at 9:30 so that will help make up my mind what we're doing today, LOL!  ;D

Good luck today everybody!!

Clare no real suggestions except to start a new thread on the naps or EASY forum...9.5 months is really way too early to be switching to one nap, but you might get some good advice on how to keep plugging along if you start a new thread.  Good luck!  :D

Thanks Stacy!  I don't mind a later bedtime, but it sure is nice to have that time with DH and to get some things done for myself as well.  I can be flexible, though.

Her absolute hardest thing is the morning A time, always has been.  I will try the morning catnap and see how she does but she LOVES her morning nap the most (it has always been longer than the pm nap), so I might have to go with the shorter night sleep and push bedtime back.  I'll keep messing with it a bit and see how it goes.  She is a grump in the morning (just like her Mommy!  LOL!) no matter what so not sure if I'd be able to tell if it were due to night sleep or not.  ;)  I will just introduce her to the joys of coffee at a young age, LOL!  :)

well as expected, Noah was OT at bedtime lastnight and he woke at 3:15am and was awake til 5am talking and crying out every once and a while. The worse part was that I was awake at 2am worrying that he was going to wake. so I had a 3.5hr awake time in the middle of the night. we then woke him at 7:50am.

so I've laid him down at 12, he's just talked for a bit but I think is asleep at 12:15pm
7pm bedtime tonight, none of this playing outside til 7:30, gosh I need a watch

deb, don't you just hate it even more when its your fault their sleep is buggered, I know I do.

Heres how today panned out, pretty good actually.
6am(ish) wake
9.30 refused nap
11.30 in cot asleep by 11.50
2.30 woke up (however woke up very slowly and very grumpy we had a few meltdowns and had to abandon potty time, one of those 'that was my fault moments' my fault for rushing her when she clearly wasn't awake properly)
6.30 bedtime asleep within 10Min's, its been an hour and she hasn't woke up yet, so we couldn't of got to the 45min OT wakeup zone  ;D

Now hears crossing my everything that she gets a good nights sleep, bloody teeth still aren't through  >:( so we will see

Ah yes, I hate loud dh's!  I have become a noise nazi it seems... i curse the postman, the UPS truck, the lawnmower...you name it!
So, after a great 1 nap day, ds is not all that interested in sleep today.  He woke himself this am after 30min (which never happens) and slept from 1:15-2:30pm....he isn't grumpy or anything.  He just isn't sleeping as much on 2 nap days.

I have ANOTHER question!!

Today was:

5.30 wake (6.00 up)
In cot at 9.15, fell asleep about 9.30 and up at 10.10
Back in cot at 1.30 fell asleep about 1.40 and up at 3.20
Down for the night at 6.50, asleep about 7.10

Now for the question. If she is up at 5.30 / 6.00 should I still be working for a 12 hr day? I get confused. Should I end nap 2 in time for her to go to bed 12hrs after she wakes for the day, or is a longer day ok??
