Yey! It must be hard watching 2 at the same time, how about giving things like that one at a time, give one something you know they are safe with then you can just watch one. Remember it is highly unlikely that they will choke on it, they may couh and splutter but thats them working it to the front of their mouths.

Wow Vicky!  That sounds great.  Do you mind sharing your risotto recipe, it sounds like a wonderful option.  And I never would hve thought of lentil and cream cheese sandwhiches.  That would be good for my big kids too!

Lu- Meghan does that with the skin from the pear too.  It always comes out.

Well it's not really a 'recipe' as much as 'throw whatever's in the fridge into a pan and add risotto rice'  ::) but yesterday's version goes something like this:-

Fry up onion and garlic in a mixture of butter and olive oil until soft.  Add chopped carrots (chopped really small) and let that soften for a couple of minute before adding any vegetables of your choice!  In addition to carrot, this one had courgette, mushrooms, broccoli and spinach.  I fry that up for a few minutes than make a 'hole' in the middle and add the risotto rice.  I let that absorb the flavour for a 2 minutes then start adding veg stock (which in my house just means the cooking water from last night's vegetables!)  A little way in, I add some beans or pulses (black eyed beans, soya beans or cannellini beans work well).  Just keep adding stock as it gets absorbed until rice is nice and sticky or for length of time it says on the packet (normally 20-25 mins).  I add grated cheese right at the end to make it extra sticky and for extra calories for the babies!

Lyn and Alissa, thanks for the info about posting other links.

Alice has got a cold, she's been grizzly and snotty all day.  So can't imagine she'll want very much in the way of food in the next few days.  I'll keep with it though and see how she gets on.  I gave her some grated cheese today.  She picked it up, but then I realised it is actually very difficult for wee hands to get it in her mouth.  I was thinking about grating cheese over some pasta, but I don't think she's not quite ready for it yet.  Still needs to learn to mush food first.

Alissa, do you think that J could eat the plantain prepared this way?

I just noticed there are a lot of 7 month old babes on here, including Marina, Sylvie & Inez! I am right behind yall so this is great!

J attacked my banana at breakfast and ate half of it! He is also a pro at eating broccoli and carrots. I fished the carrots out of my chicken soup for him. The broccoli was boiled. I lost my steamer :(

I have a great picture, but don't know how to post it.

Love the pic of Alice eating courgette!

Lovedtodeath - don't forget Meghan and Alice. We are all right around the same age. Many of us post regularly in the 6-12 month birth club, if you are interested. We are a very chatty group!

I do tend to give them food, like the plums, one at a time. It's too hard to keep my eye on both of them with something "dangerous" like that.

Went back for more Indian food today. Wanting to introduce beans to the girls. So they had kidney bean curry with their brown rice and moti roti. LOVED it. Poor waitress. I tip well to make up for the BLW mess.

I figured out the outfits. I put a t-shirt over their outfit. Plus now Sunday's outfits are their official "curry" outfits...since they already have curry stains on them.

Sometimes... I post... and I don't think.  That is how I would prepare it... for ME!   :-\  I think a little olive oil wouldn't hurt for moisture, but I'd skip the salt & pepper.

Official curry outfits.  Lu- you never cease to crack me up!!!

I've noticed that Alice mushes up her food in her mouth, gags and then spits it out.  Nothing is actually going down.  Has anyone encountered this, it's almost like the food gets so far and she doesn't want to swallow it.  She also gags and chokes on the water too.  We've had a few occasions where she's not breathing and then coughs everything out.  I don't feel scared by it, I know that it's a natural reflex, but it would be good if she could get past it.  Not sure what to do to help her start to swallow the food without the gagging.  She's not put off by it, she keeps coming back for more, she's just not downing anything.  Is it too early to expect her to swallow just yet?

Also, she is very snotty and so by the time we get to eating, she's exhausted too and just cries, so have to put her to bed instead.

I'll probably look back at this in a year and see how far she's come.

I tried plums to day, but she was just exhausted and so put her to bed.

I hate it when she has a cold, it really knocks everything out.

Pauline - when they aren't well, they are really off food - many LOs just want milk...  I would offer it to her but not expect her to eat much until she is well again

Hope she is better soon!!

Thanks Bryony.  She is certainly a very grizzly girl today.  I hope so too.  How is Katie?

Pauline, Jake was off food for about 5 days, but his cold has been 10 now. So maybe give it a short break. Hope she is better soon!

I think I will check out the birth club, thanks for the suggestion Lu. Can you link me to it? I cannot find it  ::)
And the official curry outfits... good idea. I do kinda the same thing, if something is already stained, but I would forget if we are going out.

Could someone direct me to a post that will tell how to insert a picture? Obviously, I am having trouble, and I have already tried to look for help. Thanks. :-*

lovedtodeath- instead of using the quick post function at the bottom, hit the preview tab.  It will bring you to more advanced options.  Then there is a little thingie under the text pane that says... Additional Options.  Click on the plus sign and you'll have an option to load pics.
