I did think it might be standing on a chair - but I don't think Alice would reach the sink from a chair LOL!

How funny is Callie - eating lentil curry off a spoon cos she couldn't wait.

If Ciara puts the spoon to her Callie's lips she purses them, turns her head as far away as she can and closes her eyes! LMAO

I can picture that - it's exactly what Alice did this morning when I tried to get a spoon near her mouth - she pursed her lips, closed her eyes and spun her head til it was nearly back to front - DH and I were POSL  ;D

Just posted at the same time as you and Ang - ROFL at Ang being the clean police too!!

Awww bless him Emma! He looks like such a cheeky little chappy  ;D

LOL, J wouldnt entertain the spoon at first either, but is fine with it now. We even have a little fork too, one from Boots weaning range. Thats the only thing with BLW....they have to learn how to use cutlery sometime, right?

*chucking my mars bar behind the sofa* :D

We went the puree/mush route with Ciara but she moved herself to finger foods pretty quickly.  She managed a spoon and a fork no bother, right about the time that other kids did too.  Callie loves cutlery and will eat off spoons and forks but she wants to hold them herself!

Harry just wanted to say thanks for the apples and cinnamon idea - he ate 1/2 an apple!

I'd like to say it was my idea - but it's stolen from another Mum on here (can't remember who tho!)

Great news that it did the trick tho - and I will have to try again with Alice - I think she would live on bread rusks, baby corn, banana muffins, cherries and the odd bit of pasta if it were up to her!

Warning: the clean/sugar police are always watching!!!

hope they're not watching my house - I think I'd get cautioned on both counts  ;)

will try with the spoon again - but my stubborn DD (where does she get it from?!!) probably has other ideas - tho am happy for her to use her own spoon as, like you say, she will have to learn some time.

I think tomorrow's going to be the day....  ;D

I know I said 6 months, but she was very late, and if you have to adjust back for a preemie, surely you adjust forward for a lazy heffalump? Anyhow, she's trying to grab everything food like from my hand and shove it in her mouth - you should have seen her trying to get her head in my ice cream carton  ::) ;D so delaying any longer is getting to be just cruel, and besides it's going to be 2 weeks before she actually works out how to bite and swallow isn't it...

Have I justified myself?

What did you lot start with? I read somebody (Angela?) saying that carrots seemed to be big gag stuff, and maybe for my nerves I'd like something that doesn't instantly make me think I've just killed my child. Avocado? Bannana? Rice cake? Hmmmmmm

Can you tell I'm excited?
Katie

Yes Katie, carrots have always been a bit of a gag fest here  :P

I started J on banana and sweet potato. Avocado good too! Very exciting, less us know how your greedy heffalump gets on  ;D

DS did well on avacodo as a starter food.  Also VERY ripe pear was an early fav!

Alice wasn't a fan of banana - it seemed to make her gag but I think it was the texture more than anything.

I started with ripe pear, cucumber and baby sweetcorn - tho it took Alice months to master the technique. Sounds like your LO isn't going to take so long tho  ;)

Can't wait to hear how you and your little heffalump get on  ;D

We've been to my parents today and Alice had her lunch there - Grandma and Grandad were amazed at how well Alice could eat (they were VERY cynical about the whole BLW thing to start with). However, today she sat in her high chair and demolished a bread rusk, half a banana muffin, 10 blueberries and a couple of Organix tomato rings - and apart from a few crumbs around the high chair you could hardly tell she'd been eating  ;) She even took a gulp of water from her sippy cup to finish off. I was very proud of her  ;D

Good for Alice, what a star! I'm not even going to tell my parents, or more particularly MIL about BLW - it's just asking for conversations I don't feel like having. Will just wait until I can present it like a fait accomplis.
