Cracked it?  Yeah right!!!  lol  You know how it is - something works for a few days and then it is gone.  I should enjoy it while it lasts!!

My LO didn't fall asleep until 8 and he woke at 6.  The later bedtime seems to make him wake earlier no matter what.  So I don't know how to set up the day to avoid it.  We already limited his nap yesterday too.  I am still going to go with the 5.75 A, since he seems to sleep with that.  But with a 6 am waking, we don't have to worry about an 8 pm bedtime.

How are things going with you Laura?

We have this problem and this is why we never do late bedtimes!

Well last night we had even more weirdness and you know my DS is KING of sleep weirdness!!  He napped 1.5hrs yesterday went down at 6.30pm as he was shattered (I was worried about another 4am wakeup like last week) he woke at 4am for about 45mins (which for him isn't too bad!) or so (I went back to sleep) and then we woke him up around 7am!  He has then been refusing his nap for my mum - apparently finally fell asleep at 12.05pm when I asked how long he slept she text back and said "it's complicated, I'll explain later"  which probably means not very long, or interrupted!!  Honestly he really is SO SO SO unpredictable.  He does seem to be a little better in himself which is good though.  I'm secretly hoping it's the weaning him off the reflux meds and in 4 weeks or so he'll be sleeping through!!

Wait, so he dozed in and out for the last hour?  I am sorry this is so frustrating.

So where are you at with the med reduction? How long has he been on a lower dose or off of them?

You could just be trying to battle natural biorhythms at the moment....I mean, he was getting his best sleep when he was doing 630ish - 530-6am ish, right?  And it could be that he is just a naturally early riser. The late bedtimes won't help at all in this case, even when they are gently pushed forwards and the rest of his routine is done up to suit a later bedtime and later wake up, kwim?   If this is the case, it might be that you have to live with the early beds/wakes to get the long night sleep in....  (sorry) xxxx

Mashi, I know you are right.  He has been like that for ages.  However, we do seem to be ok with a 7/7:30 bedtime.  Actually, it is the rare days that we get later wakes of 7, that we get an EW the next day, because the bedtime the night before was so late.  He seems to like long A times, so the day is just naturally longer and this doesn't work with a later bedtime (8 pm).

My predictably inconsistent LO only slept 1 hour 15 minutes.  So no worries of a late bedtime!

My DS is the same in that we always get the best sleep if he is in bed by 6.30pm but lately it has been more like 7pm due to increasing A time and the total night sleep has gone down. It is frustrating isn't it as you feel good when they go to bed later...well I do but it hardly ever means a later wake up in this house. x

You know it is funny, I don't like 8 pm bedtimes.  I like quiet time in the evenings without my LO. But I could go for 7.  All I want is a 7-6 kind of thing and my LO won't cooperate.  lol

yes I think 7-6 is good but 6.30pm just seems sooo early. 8pm would be too late here as well as I like my evenings too :)

We have been stuck at 6/6:30 for months and I agree it is too early.  We have been getting more later bedtimes lately, because he seems to like longer A's.

What do I make of this?: my LO is taking ages to fall asleep - at least 45 minutes every night.  I don't think he is OT because it is every night.  He can have a really great nap or a short nap and it takes this long.  He has been doing a 6 hour A before and after the nap every day.  I have been aiming for a 5.5 hour A, but he doesn't do it.  Tonight he actually sat up and started babbling at 7, when DH put him down at 6:30.  He fell asleep at exactly the 6 hour mark.

Do you know what Kara I am wondering if your LO is more like Lucy's Daisy than we thought.  What time is it nap at the mo?  Maybe push it back a little more and limit it and see what happens?  Depending on what DS does today (as we had another marathon 2hr insomniac stretch last night) I may try a similar routine to Lucy - but have the nap an hr (that is if he does that long!!)
