so many hugs sweetie.
I am still trying to figure Alyssa out. Her naps have never been great, but I have noticed that she works well with a day averaging 13hours. She used to do 12/12.5hours.

She is sttn.....but taking a while to settle at night and having a few ew's!
Yesterday went
Wake 5.20am
Sleep 10.50
Wake 1pm
In bed for 6.15 asleep 6.45 I had to go in numerous times
Woke at 5.05am I took her into my bed and she fell back asleep again after about 15 mins until 7am. (I got up as soon as she was asleep!)
I think she woke early cause she was cold???
I put her down for her nap at 12.15 and she was asleep almost instantly. So today is the first day in a while that she hasn't played or chatted in the cot before falling asleep at nap time!

Things haven't been going too well.
The night before last she had another mammoth nw, 2 hours she was awake for.
She then took over an hour to settle for her nap and the same for bedtime. Last night I asked our babysitter to put her into bed and she went right asleep but she woke at 5.20 (no nw)
Yest went
Wake 6.30 she had had a nw the night before
Sleep 12
Wake 1.15 but I got her back asleep until 2
Bed 7 and asleep by 7.15.
I have been trying different a times to bed and honestly it seems to make no difference on wakeup or on the length of time it takes her to fall asleep!
Today she woke. At 5.20....i tried so hard to get her to go back asleep but she wasn't tried enough. D you think I need to cut the nap to 1.5 hours?

Amy - what is her behaviour like with these NWings? 2 hours is a long time - bless you!

Is she crying, chatting ??

She is calling for me and then wants to play!! That is why I am thinking 2 hour nap might be too long. She did 1.45 today I had her down by 11 so a time in the am was 5 hours and 40mins. Will have her in bed by 6pm so today will go
Wake 5.20
Sleep 11
Wake 12.45
Sleep 6pm.....well in bed at least.....the babysitter will be putting her down for me as I have to go to hospital with dh (did his back in and needs an injection for the pain until surgery on Sunday :( :( ) so these nw's and ew's are all done by me!

I think its worth a try if you are getting the long NW's Amy.  I think if you cut the nap down a bit you might need to be careful that her A time to BT isn't too long though, as you don't want OT to come & bite you in the bum!

I know when we work on capping O's nap (which is likely to be fairly soon I think) then my plan is to gradually push out his nap from its current 12.30-2.30 so it starts at 1pm & ends at 2.30pm with a 7.30pm BT.  So he'll be doing 6hrs A / 1.5hr nap / 5hrs A to BT.  You might find that 5.5hrs either side works ok too.

I think if you do cap though, I would try & stick to it consistently for a good week or so & keep the same A times too & then you'll get a feel for whether its working or not.

yes agree with this.

It does sound like an UT/OT loop which is inevitable with transitions but I agree that the A time after her nap is crucial to her not getting OT.

I agree too - if you are going to be capping her nap, then you should aim to be putting her down for her nap later to wake up at the same time.
