Hi Claire, yest was the first day of the 11.15 nap, she work after 30mins but sitter managed to get her back asleep. I woke her at 1.15. Se struggled again to fall asleep at bedtime but was asleep around about 7pm she woke at 5.15. Today she napped from 11.15 until 12.45. It is 7pm now and I think she is asleep but she could just be lying quiet for a few minutes!!

Just a little update. So we have been slowly pushing forward and yesterday we started with 11.45 naps, having done 11.30 and 11.15 over the past week or so. She woke yesterday at the 1 hour 10 min mark and my mum went into her and she went back asleep. So she slept for two hours yesterday, I put her in bed at 6.45 but she was still awake at 7.30........ But then she went asleep. She woke at 6.20 this morning which is great.
Today however she woke after an hour into the nap, my sitter said that she thought she was OT as she was showing tired signs at 11.20 ( which would have been 5 hours after wu) I will stick to the nap at this time for another few days, but I am struggling to get a good bedtime. If she sleeps 11.45 to 1.45 then 6.30 is too early for her, but today she only slept to 1pm so what time should I do bed time? I would like it to be the same every night??

Hiya Amy.  So definitely sounds like the later nap is helping her wakeup time - yay!  WRT BT I'd say yes 6.30pm is probably too early now the nap starts at 11.45am.  When we did this with O it was at this point that we started to push BT later too.  After a 2hr nap we did 5hrs A time to BT, so with an 11.45-1.45 nap that would be 6.45pm BT.  Once the nap got to 12pm then BT was 7pm & so on.

However, O was 16 months when we did this, & since then his A times have jumped & now at 19months he is UT at BT with a 5hr A after a 2hr nap - this may be why C took a long time to settle yesterday.  So she might actually need a longer A to BT.  This is where it gets a bit tricky though, as the longer A time means a longer day which can lead to OT.  This is why we have started capping O's nap at 1.5hrs, as he started waking early again with the 2hr nap, so we are now trying

Up: 7am
Nap: 1-2.30
BT: 7.30

WRT the mid nap WU's - yes they do sound like OT & it is probably down to you pushing the nap later - it really did make O quite OT too.  I know you would like to keep a consistent BT & you can if you dare & just try & ride it out, but I have to say if O only slept 1hr I'd do EBT or he'd be shattered.  Probably at 6, definitely no later than 6.30pm.

Hi

Things had been going really well, I had been waking her after two hours the majority of the days. Night times are still a battle, however she woke a few days ago early, had been doing 6.30/7am wake ups....and now we are back in OT land....it just really es me off how one ew can throw everything off kilter.
Today she woke at 5.30am I did nap at 11.30 and she woke 12.50 which is OT for her. Lst night was a 1hour 30 min battle to get her to sleep, have been doing wi/wo at bedtime since Jan and it isnt working.....yesterday she woke at 5.......
Yesterday went
Wake 5
Sleep 12pm (wanted to keep nap at normal time)
Wake 1.10pm
Bed 5.30
Sleep7.10

The day before she took a 30min nap!
She is so miserable in the mornings wanting me to carry her around, anything less than a 11hour night and she is a walking misery!
So today she woke at 5.30
Sleep 11.30
Wake 12.50
Will aim for a 5.30 bed again, but I struggle to get her to fall asleep.....don't know what else I can do, she settles fine at naps!

That's tough going. I'm not sure what to suggest. The only thing that jumps out at me is that regardless of the EW and OT, it looks like she may need more than 4-4.5hr A time after her nap and that's why she didn't settle yesterday. So, although I know you're trying to get her to bed early to keep her day short and avoid OT, I think it's backfiring as it's too early for her, and then by the time she does settle she's probably OT  :-\

Has she always done long A times? It could be that she needs 5-5.5hrs to bed, even if her nap is on the short side.

Honestly even now at 19.5 months I still don't know whether she is short a in morning or in afternoon. I also don't know if she is high or low sleep needs! She keeps changing some days she likes long a in morning but other days she likes a short one........I am well and truly baffled!

Amy I thought I posted on your thread earlier but it has disappeared!?  Basically I was saying the same as KayDee that I thought she might be a wee bit UT at BT, leading to OT by the time she eventually settles & that IIWM I would probably try BT after around 5hrs rather than 4.5.  I'm finding with O he really isn't tired at BT anymore, & have kept on trying short A's b/c of fear he's OT.  But it is also backfiring & he just takes even longer to settle.  Seems to be a very common occurrence with LO's at this age though so I suppose in part may be developmental.  If it is, I hope they all snap out of it soon lol!.
