Great that it is down a bit. Bear in mind he Will likely need more sleep to recover so i would let him have as much as he Will take. K had an early 1.5hr nap today and was in bed asleep by 8.15ish in the end. Hoping for 11hrs.

Barbara, I hope F is feeling better. I wouldn't give Neurofen as a dream med. It's hard on the tummy. I normally give Neurofen at BT as DS 's stomach is full and Calpol in the night. Xx

Oh boy ladies. asleep by 7:55pm and woke up at 6:30am. Think it was b/c her sister was crying. Sigh. She said Alyssa woke her up. ::)  if she naps, I am going to let her sleep 1.5hrs.  I feel so down today b/c things were looking better then all of a sudden I have two los now who woke early. I can't win. Alyssa has started to wake earlier now and am not sure if it is UT or OT.
Just need to rest my head today.

Oh sabs, it's the same thing at my place. Last night shreya went to sleep by 6, but this morning woke at 5, because bunny had got lost under the covers. The first time ever. Of course after 11 hr sleep she didn't go back to sleep.

And she didn't nap today either cos DS had a short pm nap right when I was putting S to nap. I am so glad today is over. I had two os kids by 5 pm. I had no choice but to give her nearly a 13 hr day today. They were both asleep by 6 pm. Heaven knows what tonight will bring or what time they will wake tomorrow.

never ends. My parents were over this morning and of course she was refusing to nap. She was getting cranky at 1:30pm, passed out at 2pm. I let her sleep for 45mins. Is 8pm bt a good time?

I can't believe that I am writing on here but Lo, who is 21 months, has been dropping her nap. I put her to bed and she just plays for the whole 1.5-2 hrs!! If I try to go in there all heck breaks out and I just let her out of her room. 2 weeks ago we had 3 days of no naps with a bt of 5:45-6pm she slept 14 hrs those nights and then napped on day 4. Last week she napped everyday. Yesterday and today she hasn't napped. She is in her room right now reading books and I will go get her right away. I don't know what to do, she has to be too young for this right?

I don't think it is odd at all. Can you post your routine? What is her temperament? What time do you aim for nap?

in bed and asleep by 8:05pm. Fingers crossed ladies.

?? Okay- Nick has JUST turned 4 yo, and so is above the age for this thread, but I want your wisdom, please.

He's superbusy so I've kept the nap as long as possible- lucky me, he was taking 1 hour naps until last month, BUT his bedtime was coasting way too late 9-10PM!!
He USED to do this;

wake7:20AM, nap 1:30-2:30PM, and bedtime 8:30PM.

Now he's nap skipping- I'm totally okay with it, BUT BUT BUT!! His nights are now only 10 hours long and NO NAP???
Mama's kind of tired here... so 5:30-6AM waking and awake till 8:30/9PM. ??? yet still happy!! HELP

She is 100% spirited,
 her routine looks like:
wakeup-8am
nap-12:30-2:30
bt- 7:45pm

If she gets up at 7am she naps at 12:00pm, if she gets up at 8:30am she naps at 1pm
I think I may need longer A times but I don't know.

Cath, try earlier bt!  He should be way OT at that bt.  Good luck!

Sorry to be MIA due to pneumonia.  DS has been sleeping kind of well!!  After that super late night with almost 12h sleep, I got him to sleep arund 11h or shorter if he has 1.5h nap.

He couldn't fall asleep earlier than 9:30 last night but with 8:30wu and almost 2h late nap, that's understandable.  Now at 8 I only just heard th first cough, with piles driving for an hour right in front of our apartment, that's pretty good!!

I have yet to write it all down to analyze a bit before I can say I nail a good A time for him.

Cathie, how many days a week is Nick having a nap and how long ? Or is it no nap the whole week ?

Lily, it doesn't sound like she is dropping the nap. Is she having NWs, EWs or refusing her naps at all ?

Koe , good news about the longer nights :)

I agree, it doesn't sound like nap dropping.  I wonder if you pushed that nap out a little. If she is waking up at 8am and nap falls at 12:30pm, that is only 4.5hours. I think at this age it is very difficult to manage a 2hour nap and 12hour night for them.  What if you pushed the nap out to 1pm, will she still resist? This of course would mean bt would be moved a little later. Not sure how you feel about that.  My only other suggestion is to move her wu time to 7:30am, with a 12:30pm nap. If you don't like to move her wu time earlier, I think you may have to move bt a little later.

Koe, get well soon.

our nights are getting shorter again.  Sigh.  after a 45min nap yesterday she was asleep by 8pm and woke this morning at 6:40am.  Here we go with the OT cycle again.
should I let her do a nap of 1.5hours today. If she naps. LOL.
why are her nights getting shorter again. Mind you when I woke her up yesterday she was just miserable.

joining this thread.  the 1-0 transition is WAY harder than the 2-1 was!

DD is 2.5yo (31 months to be exact).  she is touchy/spirited and has never been an awesome napper.  about 6 months ago her naps started to get longer (2-2.5 hours) but her night was getting shorter (10 or less hours) and she was always waking in the 5am hour.  at first we thought her little brother was waking her up, but then he stopped waking at that time and she just kept on.  we tried to move naptime, bedtime, etc. but nothing was helping...and she was so tired by 9am that she was asking for a morning nap!  yikes.  she goes to school 8:30-11:30am M-F so i was worried that she was too tired for school.  finally this summer on vacation she started taking 30 minute naps in the car/stroller while out and about and we were putting her down to bed btwn 6-6:30pm...and she was sleeping until 6am the next morning!  things are so much better that way, but it is hard to stay on that schedule for various reasons.  since school started back up she has been sick twice already so i've let her nap as long as she needs.  currently i am allowing a 1 hour nap but am only getting a 10-10.5 hour night, which isn't horrible but she is taking 45 minutes to fall asleep at night and getting up at 5:15/5:30am.  ARGH!!  plus she is a bear when i get her up during the day.

i KNOW she does better with little to no nap...she sleeps at least 11h30m at night those days...but it just is hard to stick with it, and she seems so young to have no nap.  sigh.  i know you all know how i am feeling, just looking for support!!!

Cath, try earlier bt!  He should be way OT at that bt.
LOL- I put him to bed at 7PM, BUT he's not asleep until 8:30- just happily singing, talking to himself, etc etc. It's like his brain won't shut off.

Cathie, how many days a week is Nick having a nap and how long ?
Last week it was maybe one 30 min nap every 3rd day, and now it's just NO nap and late night/short night. Last night 8:30, he woke at 6:30AM...happy. no major whining, behavioral issues, just wakeful...
thanks girls- geez, sleep has always been our battle, ykwim? And not in a fussy way, just a low sleep needs kid or something...
