agreed...good luck

sigh so i was going to stick with the 11:30 nap but my poor dd fell asleep in the car for MAYBE 10 mins at around 10:45  (which by the way she NEVER does so she really must have been tired :/)  ...sigh...figured i'd bring her in change her give her her bottle and put her down for 11:15ish...well she's now been talking and playing for about 20 mins!!!!  ugh was I wrong?  stupid 10 min nap!  I told my mom to let her go unless she starts crying but if she is still talking around 12 (that be like a good 40 mins :/)  to take her out...give her lunch and try again...what do you all think? I'm lost....

Hi Melissa.

I'd probably try at 12.30/1.  I think if you PD too early you will get refusal again, OR she will sleep but it will just be a short nap.  My DS would probably do around 2-2.5hrs A after a 10min nap these days & he is similar age to A.

Well DD napped only 30 mins again. I put her down at 10:45 (3hr45) and she took 30mins to fall asleep. So napped from 11:12-11:45.

When do you think I should try again? If I try putting her with a short a time (2hrs ish) and she doesn't nap, do I try AGAIN or just leave it?

Things are gross here today - still sick and I suspect she is having problems with her ears now... down at 650pm, random whimpering through the night but no real wake ups until she woke screaming at 545am... down for a nap at 940... yuck.

Aidan went down at 12 again today and woke after 30mins but resettled himself in 2 mins, whole nap was 1hr20 mins - again!!
So I offered him a catnap in the car at 4pm which he took but he capped it at 15mins!  First time ever he hasn't done at least 30mins in the car. Not that I'm bothered, just surprised!

Hopefully we'll have a good night but we haven't in around 3 nights now as his gums are bulging hugely and molars are cutting left, right and centre.

Sorry some of you had rubbish days, hope the nights are better x

Melissa - hope you got a good nap.

Smurfette - I agree with Melissa - try 3hrs A & if that is refused try 3.5hrs.  O can do around 3.5hrs after a 30min nap these days.  I reckon tomorrow if you get another good WU I would go with 4hrs A in the morning.  That extra 15mins might mean she'll settle more quickly.  I had exactly this with DS last week.  We were doing 2 naps, he got caught up on the OT & then he started resisting & was taking ages to fall asleep.  I increased his AM A time by 15mins every 3 days & it has helped enormously, though he's still refusing a PM C/N.

I think they all seem to have a big leap in A times at around 13/14 months you know.

Our day has been a really wonky one too.
Wake 5.15am
A = 4.75hrs
nap 10-11.30am (1.5hrs - woke himself & woke happy according to MIL)
A = 7hrs
BT 6.30pm

He totally refused CN at 4.25hrs A after his 1.5hr nap.  MIL left him in bed until 4.75hrs A & it was outright refused - he screamed.  So by the time they brought him home tonight (5.45pm) he'd already had a whopping A time & I rushed to get him to bed for 6.10pm.  Of course b/c he's OT he took til 6.30 to settle.  Can't change it but its not at all what I wanted.  Not sure where to go from here really.

Claire could you keep pushing that am nap by 15mins, if it has worked well for you, so you can get to 1 nap?
How many hours at night does he sleep?  I know you mil had him today but if it happens again would you try for even earlier BT?  6pm?

Claire- I tried 3hrs yesterday and she was up a whole hour before I admitted defeat. :/ We'll see how it goes. If I push it to 3.5 hrs that takes us to about 3:15 which is getting pretty late in the day, but I guess its better than nothing! ::)

Alexandra is still sleeping... it's 11:22am and she went down at 9:40am after only a 4 hr A time... this cold is kicking her butt!  She is totally fine to do a 5 hr A typically first thing in the morning...
