Hello everyone!
Hannah... by the time you read this, you would have finished your first day at work. I am sure everything went well for you as you were so sell prepared!
Oh... price difference of baby food in the Walmarts across Canada? Somebody is paying $0.43? I pay $0.28 and why is there a price difference like that? Maybe they adjust their prices to match the demographics? What's up with that?
I will get DH to take a picture of me feeding Arwyn with her chopsticks. Actually, she will eat anything off of my chopsticks or her chopsticks but hers are narrower and she doesn't have to open her mouth as wide. BTW, does anybody else have a lo who barely opens the mouth to eat? Arwyn does that and it drives me bonkers... it pushes the food to the end of the spoon and she hardly gets any.
Also... she is not eating very much... nowhere near what Sol or Cole is able to do. She is just not interested and throws a hairy fit if I try to continue. Should I be worried? Perhaps she is not a big eater? How do I know?
WARNING... LONG VENT!
Okay... non-BW friend... well... she claims to have read the book but
So, she visits one day when she was pg. I have Arywn on her BW routine and my friend was here through 2 naps (basically, all day). I pu/pd and pat/shush Arwyn into a long nap each time. I tell her all about how great it has worked for us, she sleeps on her own from awake, in her own crib, sleeps through the night, no letting her cry, etc. I show her the website, tout the wonderful support I get, etc. etc. etc. She is the kind that takes a WEE BIT OF INFORMATION and goes with it and I know that she only read the intro part about EASY in the first book as I was pat/shushing.
SO... she has her baby... he is obviously an angel baby and falls into routine on his own. Everything is great for the first while... then she comes to visit at 10 weeks and proudly tells me she started sleep training at 8 weeks. (This is after confirming that I didn't start until 11 weeks... about 3 times. WTF? This isn't a competition.) She tells me she put her DS down in his crib and leaves. He started crying and she left him. According to her, the crying gets so bad she has to TURN OFF THE SOUND TO THE MONITOR and watch the lights only. He finally stops after 20 minutes!
I couldn't bite my tongue and comment, "Wow, that is so not BW!" to which she replies, "Oh, I don't care about that! But listen to this... he falls asleep on his own now!" Apparently, she let him CIO for all his naps one day and the next day, he slept on his own. Lately, her DS has been taking short naps when he is at home. So, to solve her problem, she takes him out and schleps him everywhere and claims he sleeps much better when he is out. He is now almost 14 weeks old. I would like to see what he is doing in about 2 months for naps! And what techniques my dear friend will try to correct them (or, maybe she won't need to?).
She is a very good friend of mine (we've been friends since 5 years old)and it breaks my heart that her little one had to cry it out at 8 weeks. He was such a wee one then. I mean, I don't believe in CIO at any age but 8 weeks is so very little. I told DH but all he said was, "Well, not our problem. We can't let Arwyn CIO, she'll just keep crying." (insert kiss my DH emoticon here). Whew... long vent sorry. Thanks ladies, I needed to get that out.
