Erin - regarding daycare...Mason was sick with chronic ear infections and general colds for about the first 2 months of daycare. After that, he rarely got sick and even now very seldom gets a full fledged cold. I can't even remember the last time he had the "flu" and actually threw up. So, hang in there...she will be fine in a few weeks!

Cathy - love the outfit!! ROFLMAO!! Poor little guy! Molly loves the Robeez too. We spend $30 a pair and she rips them off her feet only to chew on them. Sheesh!  I'll try to post one of her going to town on hers too!
And YaY for DH getting home and being able to give you a break!

Bec - those possums are too adorable! Their eyes are mesmerizing. Love the camping pics too, can't see your LO too closely though.  :(

Well, we are off to Victoria, BC today. It's only about 1.5 hour flight so am not too worried. We leave at 5 pm though and if I can't get Molly to at least catch a catnap on the way to the airport...eeeeeeeek!!  Oh well, will try not to worry about it and just go with the flow. We have taken her to Victoria once (DH's parents are there) but he was along, this time it's just me. Hopefully they can give me an empty seat beside if the plane isn't full. Please send some good flight vibes our way!!!  On a positive note, last time we went Molly slept wonderfully the entire time we were there. Must have been the ocean air?? Difference in sea level or something??

I hope to keep up on this thread while I'm away but HUGS to everyone and thanks for being here!!

P.S. Got my Christmas cards done last night/this morning. I feel so proud!

Howdy Cowgirls,

Michelle - Molly is adorable!  The postage to Cayman is international and I will be there for Christmas.  A nice relaxing Christmas just DH, Sophie and I! ~~~~~~good flight vibes~~~~~~

Judy - Technically it takes 3 days to watch your dog run away.  and thanks to Traci for clearing up any and all geographical confusions!

Kate - ROTFLMAO!  You are toooo funny.  My dh makes comments like that to random people, we get some pretty hilarious reactions.

Cathy - LOVE LOVE LOVE the outfit  , gotta love those gifts  !  Sophie is obsessed with chewing on her Robeez as well.

So - I still have  a week left here and I am going nuts.  This house can be chaos sometimes ( I have a 17 year old brother and parents who are involved in and do way too much) and we are runnning a car short and it is freezing and I am stuck in this house and blah blah blah......

All that talk my last post about Sophie and not feeding herself, well after I posted I made her lunch no purees.  Eggy Bread, scrambled egg, cheese sticks & mandarin orange.  She picked up everything herself and fed herself  .  I helped only a little, she loved it - ate tonnes and less than half was on the floor and /or her head (she is forever putting stuff on her head).  This girl LOVES the cheese sticks and mandarin orange, which i am glad about so I can substitute this as a snack as opposed to a biscuit.

i went out with some friends last night and it was fun catching up but I stayed out to late *insert yawning emotiocon here* so am going to have a nap while she does.

We woke up this morning to SNOW!!!! Our first of the year. And it's 18 degrees outside, so I've declared a "snow day" for Olivia and me--no housework, no laundry, no "have-to" work of any kind. (Luckily, most of the housework and all of the laundry got done earlier this week.) I took a long, hot bath this morning during her nap, we're both dressed in our warmest, most comfortable clothes, and I'm planning a long day of cuddling and general Christmas fun--hot chocolate, Christmas movies, wrapping presents, and I might even make some Christmas cookies this afternoon. These are the days I LOVE being a SAHM.

CATHY--great picture! I love the outfit! We have some of those, too. I usually just put Liv in it one day when we're home all day and take pics to send to whoever gave us the outfit. That way everyone is happy.

Have a great one, girls! Off to snuggle with my LO.

Okay I have missed about 20 pgs on here... but going to catch up now...

sorry to "bud" in...
I did however go back and peek at Kates joke about little butt smacking... I almost died laughing  ... reminded me of what I said one day and I think I almost killed off an old bird at the mall who heard me... (it was between Makaylee and I, not intended for the old lady's ears so it was her own fault he she suffered any long term effects  )

We were heading into the mall doors and Maky had made herself gag (you know fingers so far down the throat they almost poke out their butt).. well I calmly said to Maky "don't you go dyin' on me today we have a lot of Christmas shopping to do..." (I giggled to myself my I don't think ol g-ma saw me) This lady gave me the most horrible look  ... I just shrugged my shoulders and said "well it's true we have a busy day!?" she just went "humffff" and shuffled away.

Oh man I smiled for hours thinking about what she must have thought, and who the heck she was going to tell it too!!!

Well the girls are finishing up their 2nd colds in 4 weeks.
Makaylee is deciding she only needs one nap a day   :x - she is a happy pappy when she is up for 5 hours - so I cant complain. Mais still needs 2 naps. no alone time for mummy I guess.

Makaylee was up screaming bloody murder twice last night??? no idea what the heck is going on... back teeth possibly?? anyone know what comes after the first 6 teeth... 4 top 2 bottoms, then what? She screamed like she was dying-really I was scared because she NEVER wakes up and hasnt for months-it's always Mais. Don't know what it is, hope it doesnt happen again tonight.

Micky- great cards- you keener!! you made them didn't you??? I was going to make my cards but I had 57 to send out and I really don't think most of my relates would appreciate the hard work!!

Anyone wanna here a fun story of Micky and I??? Okay well your going too!!
We have actually met before when our babes were getting their shots! We talked and everything. Dh and I left the clinic and we couldn't stop talking about how absolutely gorgeous Jackson is!! Weird- small small world heh!!

OKay my girls are NOT napping and I have to go get them..

SO SORRY THIS IS SOOO LONG- it's been a while!!

Richelle-hooray for Sophie!  good for you for trying something new and it worked :D

Cathy-OMG...soo adorable.  a little "carcheezy" but hey, what do you expect in a little knit outfit.  I have MY own little pink outfit that my grandmother knit.  so hoping to have a girl next to put her in it :D

Lisa-DH just started settling Cole at night and the next day he had a sore back, aching tummy and a cold.  So he's getting a few days rest.  He has a low back issue so he won't be able help too often with all the leaning over but thanks for the suggestion anyway.  Oh-and I hear you on the 5am thing.  but really, it could be worse, just keep reading   and btw, don't worry about venting even though your situation doesn't seem "as bad" as some of us.  As Judy and Holly have both said to me when I've made similar comments, we all have our own realities and are thrown off when they change (or similar such statements)

Nancy-sounds like a lovely day, enjoy!  And good for you for not pushing BW too much.  IF they ask then I offer, otherwise you just have to bite your tongue.  Just think how you'd feel if someone offered unsolicited advice, regardless how great it might be!

Love all the pics with the Robeez!  Cole will suck on his until I get them on his feet.  If his socks are thin enough he can't get them off.  Isn't that supposed to be the advantage of Robeez is that the los aren't supposed to be able to pull them off???

Michelle-good luck with the flight and have a great time.

Nikki-hope you can figure out Ds grumpiness.  Also, could you please PM me the recipe for that gluten free cake you made?  We're having a christmas open house next weekend and a girlfriend and her son are allergic to wheat.  Thanks!

Well-our night.   Great sleep from 6:50pm-1am.  Didn't wake to feed at his normal time so I did DF at 10:40.  Not sure if I should have just left him or not :?:  Then I think I got 45 min. sleep sometime between 1 and 5 but I'm not sure.  Gave advil at 1am thinking it would work-nope. Fed at 3:30, didn't help.  Fed at 4:45, finally slept 5-7, which of course has thrown our whole day off so now bed won't be until 7.    So much for my resolve, i really just needed to sleep!  And he wasn't crying hard or anything again, just couldn't sleep.  would try and try and try to sleep but just kept getting up.  Oval finally seemed to help-didn't give it until just before 4:45 feed though.  i got to thinking in the middle of the night that I didn't drink much water yesterday, and I ate spinach a couple days in a row.  He had hard poops this morning so I am guzzling water and told DH no more spinach.  He said "it's good for you" and I said, "it's not good for cole"...boy, did that take restraint :!:

okay, i got my US and international cards done so hopefully off to the post office today to send them off.  Maybe a good excuse to get out in the fresh air, it's about a 15 minute walk away.

I have to admit-I don't like 6am waking...but i do like 6pm bed.  My day seems like it will be soooo long with him up until 7 today.  DH never gets home before 7:10 so it's always bedtime routine by myself.

okay ladies-have a good one

Hello everyone!

Hannah... by the time you read this, you would have finished your first day at work. I am sure everything went well for you as you were so sell prepared!

Oh... price difference of baby food in the Walmarts across Canada? Somebody is paying $0.43? I pay $0.28 and why is there a price difference like that? Maybe they adjust their prices to match the demographics? What's up with that?

I will get DH to take a picture of me feeding Arwyn with her chopsticks. Actually, she will eat anything off of my chopsticks or her chopsticks but hers are narrower and she doesn't have to open her mouth as wide. BTW, does anybody else have a lo who barely opens the mouth to eat? Arwyn does that and it drives me bonkers... it pushes the food to the end of the spoon and she hardly gets any.

Also... she is not eating very much... nowhere near what Sol or Cole is able to do. She is just not interested and throws a hairy fit if I try to continue. Should I be worried? Perhaps she is not a big eater? How do I know?

WARNING... LONG VENT!

Okay... non-BW friend... well... she claims to have read the book but ??? So, she visits one day when she was pg. I have Arywn on her BW routine and my friend was here through 2 naps (basically, all day). I pu/pd and pat/shush Arwyn into a long nap each time. I tell her all about how great it has worked for us, she sleeps on her own from awake, in her own crib, sleeps through the night, no letting her cry, etc. I show her the website, tout the wonderful support I get, etc. etc. etc. She is the kind that takes a WEE BIT OF INFORMATION and goes with it and I know that she only read the intro part about EASY in the first book as I was pat/shushing.

SO... she has her baby... he is obviously an angel baby and falls into routine on his own. Everything is great for the first while... then she comes to visit at 10 weeks and proudly tells me she started sleep training at 8 weeks. (This is after confirming that I didn't start until 11 weeks... about 3 times. WTF? This isn't a competition.) She tells me she put her DS down in his crib and leaves. He started crying and she left him. According to her, the crying gets so bad she has to TURN OFF THE SOUND TO THE MONITOR and watch the lights only. He finally stops after 20 minutes!

I couldn't bite my tongue and comment, "Wow, that is so not BW!" to which she replies, "Oh, I don't care about that! But listen to this... he falls asleep on his own now!" Apparently, she let him CIO for all his naps one day and the next day, he slept on his own. Lately, her DS has been taking short naps when he is at home. So, to solve her problem, she takes him out and schleps him everywhere and claims he sleeps much better when he is out. He is now almost 14 weeks old. I would like to see what he is doing in about 2 months for naps! And what techniques my dear friend will try to correct them (or, maybe she won't need to?).

She is a very good friend of mine (we've been friends since 5 years old)and it breaks my heart that her little one had to cry it out at 8 weeks. He was such a wee one then. I mean, I don't believe in CIO at any age but 8 weeks is so very little. I told DH but all he said was, "Well, not our problem. We can't let Arwyn CIO, she'll just keep crying." (insert kiss my DH emoticon here). Whew... long vent sorry. Thanks ladies, I needed to get that out.

Jody and Traci... while I was writing my novel, you both posted!!

Update on the cards... awaiting Santa picture reprints. I don't like to print photos on the printer. I will pick up the proof on Friday and get them reprinted right away. Hopefully, they won't be long and I can get the cards off next week. Sorry to those overseas... they will be late!

Hi Ladies!

Well after a very logn day and a half of the stomach flu for both DH and I and here I am reading through 6 pages of posts while I still haven't changed out of my clothes, brushed my teeth or washed the dirty sheets from our middle of the night puke session!!!  Okay, I know that was way too much information!      But seriously, I got on and just couldn't stop reading.

So I have missed you all and it has only been one day!
Kate-soooo funny about the smacking comment and Jody too!  don't go dying on me

Hannah-here's to hoping your day went well.  I am thinking of you!

Nancy-It is SOOO hard to sit back and watch how people raise their kids with no routine I know.  And it is so hard not to be judgemental, I have to tell myself all the time.  Do remember that I am in a moms group with 5 other ladies who are on absulutely no routine at all and I have tried to inform them, but no such luck.  One said to me "It is not unbearable yet, when it becomes unberable I will do soemthing about it."  ???  By that time she'll be 9-12 months and who knows how in the heck you will be able to get things sorted out!  Oh well.

Trac-yes, it was T that was starting to recognize Goodnight Moon and she did it again last night.  It is too cute!  BTW, stay strong girl.  Remember that now is about the time they start to realize the effect they have on us so can manipulate...I know it is so hard to thinkof these cute little things doing such a thing but they are smarter than we give them credit for sometimes I think.  YOU CAHN DO IT!!! (yes, Kate I saw the movie)

yogurt-I give yo baby when I am feeling lazy or plain full fat with a apple cube mixed inwhen I am not.  The milk thing being ok has something to do with the way it is broken down when cooked so okay for the tummies versus regular milk still being too harsh I think?

Can't remember waht else...sorry!

Okay, think I may have soem things figured out about the naps and have a great consult written up from the other nap moderator that I will post later...seems to be helping.

Gotta go brush these teeth, I cacn't stand myself anymore!

Oh Yay!  here are the Taylor Made pics I promised.  Only of the designs.  I am going to lighten up the pink part of the paisley a little bit.  If you can't see it, there is also silver metallic outlining the paisley and designs.  Very groovy and Bollywood at the same time!  Anyone watch America's Next Top Model?

Also, Molly, Holly, and Bec, great pics!!!

big hugs Andrea.  I also had to LOL loud a bit because you made me think of a new thread.  "you know you're addicted to BW when you check for posts before..."

...brushing your puked covered teeth!
...washing your puke stained sheets!
...showering or eating breakfast.

continue on ladies!

interested to see the nap info.  Cole wouldn't go down just now so we stared out the window for 10 minutes.  I didn't say or do anything, then walked upstairs, put him down and voila, asleep :D

Hello, my friends!

Hannah:  Big (((hugs))) to you.  You DID it!!!  Can't wait to hear all about your first day back!

Andrea:  WOW!  So beautiful and different from anything I've seen out there.  You're going to make a killing!  Get Well Soon!!!

Crud...see, that's all I can remember.  What is wrong with me?
Oh, yeah!  Traci:  Sorry for the rough night.  It's almost more frustrating when they don't cry, isn't it? Good luck tonight!

Ankie:  Good restraint...it's so hard to NOT be preachy, but you did a great job of keeping it in.

Nancy, we are having a snow day here too...well, we are only a few hours apart, so I guess that's pretty obvious to you!      Ryan looked so adorable staring at the snow.  He was jumping up and down on the couch.  I took some pictures that I'll put on later.  Cute!  Cute!  Cute!

Our night was sooooo much better.  Each day is getting better, thank God!  I gave him Baby Advil at 7:30, so figured I'd only have one night waking that way (as opposed to 2 with Tylenol).  He woke at 11:18, so too soon for more meds.  I just went in, gave him a long hug while he was staning in the crib, then put him back down.  He rolled over and went back to sleep!      I was back in bed at 11:22!  We didn't hear from him again unitl 6:40.      So, good night, but only a 45 min. am nap, but we're almost at a 2 hour pm nap, so who knows?  This kid is a bit nutty, that's for sure!

Oh, yeah!  I sent out our cards yesterday!!!  (Well, yours anyway. We have about 120 to send, so they go out in shifts and you all were first!  I am going to monitor to see who sends us one and cut down for next year...I'm too tired for this!)  I can't wait to start getting some from my international friends.

Later, girls!
P.S.  After re-reading this, I realize I have a serious addiction to exclamation points.      I'll work on it!  (D'oh!)
Kate,
