I agree.  Zara often naps only 40 mins to 1 hr here, it brings bedtime a bit more reasonable, like 8/8:30, but I have stopped worrying.  We have a bed time, and a nap time....and she does what she does.

well he did go back to sleep today and woke on his own at 2:15, so we will see what the morning brings....DH put him to bed at 7:50pm and he was asleep in 10minutes---so hope thats a good thing
seems like 10ish hours or a little less is perhaps OT and 10.5hrs is well rested---so we are always somewhere btwn not tired enough and OT---hard to figure out..

Stacy----hope the day goes well with a nap and supper etc...

Noah was up a little after 6--so no surprise there--another 10hr night.....

so 2hr naps---9hr nights
1.5 hr naps---10hr nights
so what 1hr naps---11hr nights????

hmm, just wondeing what strategy I should take....

seems he probably won't nap til 12:45 again----so I could wake at 2 and try bed at 7:30

what do you guys think? cut the nap to 1hr 15minutes to start and then 1hr?
or should I move his 10hr night more like 8:30-6:30am and then cut the nap down a bit???

I know I am overtinking this but thats just me...

so I've layed him down at 12:15pm--he was watching big comfy couch (his favorite)---I told him it was nap time and no protest at all---he ran right to his room and got into bed...

but now hes running around his room and I've basically decided to get him up at 2pm either way---if nap is 1hr then hes asleep early and will hopefully extend his night..

hes discovered how to open his closet which is not good at all....I've been in there once and I'm not going again----its just a game of pull everything out of the closet and get mommy back in here! aargh!

I'm going to have a huge mess to clean up and Mike will have to put some sort of a lock on the closet tonight...

Hee hee Deb, sorry but you make me feel so NORMAL for overthinking all this. Misery loves company, so they say. I have been way too chicken to wake PJ through all of this and as a result have some short nights/very short nights as well. those days of 11 hour nights are over around here.  UNLESS I WAKE HIM UP!  but I am too chicken.

Good luck tonight Stacy.

We are getting on an airplane in 2 hours and if PJ isn't up in 30 min I will have to wake him, throw him in the car and race to the airport.  Then run through the airport and hop on the plane.  Luckily we are flying first class (we aren't paying for it!) and have already done webcheck in so we are in good shape there.  Then off to WA to do house hunting for the weekend.  no time for naps - it will be hell.  then start all over on Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone!

well I don't think 7hrs is actually normal for Noah---just a matter of playing and getting distracted in his room...going to go buy the closet door lock right now...

I saw a couple of eye rubs and yawns at 10:50am----so its not like hes not tired at the 6mark that I am trying..

Mike does not have this problem...Noah doesn't play and muck around----so hopeing this wares off if I am consistant with it....

we'll see what the night brings---part of the problem is that I don't much want shorter naps and 7pm bedtimes--no thanks!

all I need now is a 6:30 wake and everything will be bac on track a bit...

8:30 would be too early asleep for Zara after a 2 hour nap - she too probably wouldn't ahve been tired enough to sleep later.

Here a two hour nap usually means not asleep til more like 9:30 (but even as late as 10:30, man do I get some reading done LOL).

We are down to the only way she will fall asleep for nap now is if I sit with her (unless it is like 3-4pm then she can fall asleep on her own, but I prefer she doesn't do that LOL).  Nap length varies. On a 45 min nap, still not asleep til about 8:30, but will then sleep later, usually 7/7:30.  Long nap say 2 hours, and definitely not asleep before 9:30, could be as late as 10:30.  Wakeup the same.

Just rolling with the punches here.

Frustratingly, am already at the stage of early 2-1 days with Hugh - to fit the naps in, need shorter nights, or need at least one of the naps to be short.....he isn't quite 8 mo yet. and it is SO NOT FAIR that I have to deal with both of these transitions at once!

So Stacy, how was it????

Noah was fine, acted like a bum at Kacz Kids---saying I want this and that---like stupid decorations hanging on the wall etc.
but played nicely and acted well at home....

good predictions thoug---asleep at 8:20pm...thats all I have to say.

Well, the days of a nap not interfering with night sleep now seem to be over.... Maren napped at daycare today (of course!! ::) ) and is still up as I write this, a full two hours after we put her to bed (9:00 now)... She's in her window seat, singing out the window, yelling for us occasionally to bring her water or change her pull-up.

How long is this 'phase' going to last?  I wouldn't bother with offering the nap if she didn't turn into the devil's spawn after a few days without it! ;D
