and we have had two naps again today...although on longer A times than yesterday, but she had 5 NW last night, just not feeling great with this cold poor girl, and now I am unwell too.

Having said that though, her nose is runny (not blocked, so she can breathe fine) and she has a little bit of dry cough...and she had been given pain relief (I have very achy muscles I assume she does too). No Fever.  I am not convinced that she is ill enough for 5 NW....and the NW have increased the more 2 nap days we have given her. So, maybe she needs to be pushed back to one nap?

Don't know what tomorrow will bring....daycare.... ::) :P That will surely result in less daysleep LOL.  In fact, I am going to tell them if there is no nap at all by 1:30 to ring me and I will come and get her so she can nap at home ;)

Grrrrrrr!!!

In bed by 6pm last night and then awake at 5.30 again this am. I was please with an 11.5hr night, but then she was knackered by 7 and wanted to go back to bed. I never know what to do in these situations as I feel cruel keeping her up and as I am tired too, it's really easy to just let her. Anyway, she went straight to sleep and slept til 8.30 (so she needed it, right??). I then put her down at 12.30 and she is still there now at 2.20. I will go wake her in 10 minutes and aim to have her sleep for 6.15 tonight. Does all this mean she is now OT?? I am so confused by all this. Please will someone just come and stay with me til t his is over??!!

Rinajack - It does sound as though the 2 naps combined with the cold are throwing off the night. Let us know how it goes with nursery.

Deb - That sounds like a good day. Hoping you get a 12 hr night.

Lila I'll come stay with you, LOL!  We can take turns figuring out this nap thing.

Bethany slept 12 hrs last night, we were going to keep her up until 7pm but she was struggling so much we put her down at 6:30...so I think we'll do a two nap day and just go for less night sleep, hopefully she won't need that night sleep like you mention, Stacy...

Have I mentioned that this is driving me potty?!

Well, she was asleep by 6.30, so we've had 9.5 hrs A time and 3.5hrs sleep since 5.30 this am. Does that first 1.5hr nap count as night really? She woke at 8.30 which up until a couple of months ago was near to her true wake up time anyway.

It's the EWs that are throwing me off. She just couldn't have made it to an "acceptable" time for nap 1 today.

Stacy - you've answered the question I came on to ask! You really are psychic! I was thinking about what Kat said and was wondering whether to go that way myself. Just follow her cues and live with the short nights, but I was worried about quality of sleep and wanted some opinions. You saved me the bother! I will try again tomorrow for 9.30 & 1.00 naps with 6ish bedtime. Although Isabella is also grumpy when I wake her.

Kat - Just let me know when you are coming!

Just wondering who was nice enough to send the Teething Monster to our house, LOL?  DS is working on 2 molars at the moment and we have had lovely NWings (which we haven't had for a long time), fussy eating, eczema flare-ups, interrupted naps, and general fussiness.  So nice!

Anyway, just wanted to commiserate with everyone else having so much fun with teething.

On a happier note:

Happy Canada Day to All Canadians  ;D

Well we had 6.30 bedtime and he was up at 5.30 with no NW. Which is good for him as he has never done 12 hour night.
Today I really pushed his A times and he was in bed sleeping by 7.20.
Will be interesting night.

I have found that with am nap , he will not go to pm nap before 3 or 3.30 and if he wakes anywhere after 3.30 he will not go to sleep at 7.30 which means struggle with bedtime and he will be asleep after 8 or something which means he has early waking. ::)

Thanks Stacy. I am seriously going to go back to 9.20 / 30 - 10.00 & 1.00 - 2.30, bed for night at 6.00. Once we get back on track I can work on shifting it all on an hour. I just want to fix everything at once and I know I can't.

Question though, if she is desperate to go back to bed at 7ish in the morning what do I do? Will it make her OT worse if I stretch her to 9ish? It doesn't help that the weather is rubbish, being indoors makes her want to go to bed (and me!).

Sounds like a lot of struggles!  Teething, sickness, screwy schedules.  I hope we all live through it.

Looks like I'm going to have to push to one nap.  Two nap days are useless.  she had 2, 45 min naps today.  It seems like no matter how we do it, we get two not so good naps totallying 1.5 hrs.  Then an early bed time and she'll sleep only 11.5.  Last week she pulled a 13 hr and a 12.5, but those were on one nap days.

So even if she acts tired we'll do 1 nap.  Maybe slip in a 2 nap day every other day, or every third.  I hope to this to avoid any NW or EW.... keeping my fingers crossed!

Is it the case that too much daysleep can cause NW?  I thought it just caused EW?  But I am happy to be wrong I guess.

Anyway, last night was fewer wakeups, but longer LOL.  So long, that in fact we finally fell BACK to sleep at 5:30am, and slept til 7:30am (unheard of in this house).  Should be really easy for her to make it to one nap time today - especially since she is at daycare.  But it will no doubt be a short nap.  Oh, and that is assuming she will sleep for them at all! I have left instructions to call me at 1:30pm if she hasn't slept yet, so that I can bring her home for a late nap.

So far so good today with one 45min nap and one 1.5hr nap...she's getting cranky but we'll try dinner (it's dinner time) and see if she can make it tonight for dessert at a friends' house - we're going to have to eat and run, LOL!

That was our original problem, too much daytime sleep.  She had been getting only 10-11 hrs at night instead of 11-12.  But then before we could switch back to shortening the first nap, she decides she doesn't want to take #1 at all. So here we are.

Good luck to all
