We skipped the eat and run, we were out looking at a house and she started showing signs of being tired at 6pm so we canceled and went home.  We're such BW nerds.  :)  Then of course she sat in her crib and sang until close to 8pm!  (I had her down at 7:05)  ::)  But I think we're close with the 45min am nap and 1.5-2hr pm nap...will give it a go for a few days and see how it goes!

Zara had one nap today at daycare - for just one hour!

She seems fine this afternoon, we are about to shower, then eat dinner, then she won't go to bed cause daddy will have just come home, so she probably won't be in bed til 7:30....daddy comes home at 7pm.  She will be asleep by 8 is my guess, and then we will have to see how the night goes... ;)

I need a video monitor!!

Isabella woke at 5.30, but DH went in and gave her her buuny and she went quiet until 6.15. He then went in again an she went quiet until 6.30. I can't be sure, but I assume she went back to sleep the first time.

I put her down for nap 1 at 9.30 and she went straight off..... well so I thought. I went and looked in at 9.50 and she is just lying here stroking her bunny. She is facing the wall, so is she asleep or awake??? How can you do 2-1, when you don't know how much sleep they are getting. Maybe this is where I have been going wrong. I was planning to wake her at 10.10 and now I don't know if I should??? Maybe just go for it and follow her cues for nap 2. If she's really tired (she's been ok this am) then I'll have to assume she didn't sleep as long as I'd intended and put her down earlier...that will be tricky though as we are off to meet friends at a play area when she gets up.

We had a not bad 2 nap day Saturday but 2nd nap was only 1.15 and she was OT by bed at 6.15pm woke up 40Min's later and was very restless all evening but then slept through till 7.00am YIPPEEE!!! on sunday.  I kinda guessed sunday would be a 1nap day but put her down at 10.30 anyway and she wouldn't sleep, no biggee I though will put you down at 12.30.  As we went upstairs at 12.00 for potty time she just started crying so we skipped potty and went straight to booby, she ate but still crying every so many gulps  :'( and got her in bed by 12.15.  She woke up at 1.30 on the dot.  So was in bed by 6pm went lights out for 10Min's then woke up and took 20Min's to get back off.  This morning she was awake at 5.50am  :( she's currently on nap#2 today lets hope its a long one or we back to early bed, early wake again.

One good thing the NW seemed to of stopped even tho teeth still aren't through, so maybe the NW were more about OT than teeth  ???

Isabella's Mummy - I hear you on the video monitor I have thought the same thing so many times just recently, how do you know how much sleep they have had if the little buggers are just laying there quietly  ::)

Stacy, that was great info on nap lengths when Kaleb was 11 months or so!  That is what I aimed for yesterday with Matthew and it went really well.  The only tricky thing right now is that Matthew is teething like crazy, so is waking up early, early.  Sometimes he can go back to sleep and sometimes he can't.  This morning was a good morning, he slept until 6:50.

Thanks!

Stacy, that makes sense, thanks.

Kaleb and Matthew sound alot alike in sleeping (or lack thereof) habits!  Is Kaleb a redhead?  I couldn't tell for sure on the pic.

Well we had EW here - 6:00 and this from a girl who loves to sleep until 8am!  So...we're going to do two full-on naps today and see how it goes.  I'm perplexed because I really don't think she was OT yesterday.  She woke up asking to eat so maybe she just didn't get enough in her yesterday?

I would try aiming for 2 at most 2.25 day sleep and 11.5-12 night. Try and fit t hat in!!!

Yeah that's what we did yesterday and it seemed to work great - one 45min nap and one 1.5hr nap and a 13hr day, not bad right?  So who knows what that was this morning.  I aim for a minimum of 4hrs after her afternoon nap or like you said she won't go down.  5 hrs is ideal for her but if I squeeze in 2 naps that's usually not feasible.

kathleen,

i would say that if you are having a two nap day, maybe cut the pm nap short from 1.5hr to 1.25hr...just for that day and put down to bed at same time.

should make her slightly more tired for bed.

US~
I have to limit today's nap to no longer than 2hrs for her one nap, soooo sucky!  She hasn't been falling asleep till 8pm (gives us an automatic ewking), and waking 615am the last few days.  I am pretty sure it is due to me giving her 2.25hr for nap.

Guess we'll never get to have long naps......

Sami, we are also finding that 2hr naps vs 2.25hrs leads to like a whole extra 1hr of night sleep. so totally worth it, more sleep overall.

I decided to leave her to 10.20 as I thought she maybe wasn't asleep until after 9.50, she took a while to wake and was tired when she got up. I took her to the play area and she loved it but yawned ALOT! We got back for lunch and she was back in bed at 1.20, I don't know what time she fell asleep, but she woke at 2.30 with a fever of 38.7  :(. I gave her nurofen and she has been fine since. She ate all her dinner, but didn't really want her milk before bed. I put her down for the night just before 6.00, it's now 6.15 and I can hear her moving about, but I don't know if she is asleep or awake!! I am seriously considering a video monitor, it just seems a little late at 14 months!

Anyway, I was hoping for 2.25 in naps and in bed at 6.45 in the hope of a lie in, but looks like it will be 5.30 again!!

Kat - I know exactly where you are coming form. We can't work the EWs out either and Isabella is also an 8am girl! I think it's too much day sleep so I fix that, then I think it's OT so I fix that, then I think it's not being consistant, then I think it's her body clock gone wrong and then I think it's teething (we still only have part of each of the 4 molars), then I think it's too much A time before bed....and so it goes on.... get the picture?!

Sorry, no time to read all the other posts right now.  Feeling a bit desperate too.

Today was not good at all.  One nap, only 40 min or so, put her back down, and it looked as though she was going back to sleep, but no.

I put her down at 12:30, which I realize now was too late.  But last week dh put her down at 1:15 and she took a great nap, so I thought she'd do just fine.

So if she's up at 6:30, when should I try the first nap?

Rats.  Here I am again...

So things have been going great for us doing the 20 min AM nap, 2 hours A time, then long PM nap.  Forever.  And I KNOW my kid is almost 17 months old and this bliss can't last forever, but it really is a perfect arrangement for us.  It prevents OT, it allows us to go out and about for lunch b/c the PM nap usually starts between 1 and 2, and it allows my kids to both rest AT THE SAME TIME so I can have a little downtime and keep my sanity.   ;D

The past 2 days, she has had MAJOR trouble settling into her PM nap, when she used to fall directly asleep for it.  Today, she's been up there talking for almost an hour, and still no sign of slowing down.  ? ? ? ?  So what to do??

Shorten the AM nap to 10 or 15 min and shorten A time again between them?  Or just blow it off altogether and go for one nap?

She can handle long A times in the AM but NOT in the PM without having EW's or NW's.  And if you put the nap off much more than 4.5 hours usually (after wake up) it is too short.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!    :-*

Babyre33, if it was us I'd try 10:30 (4 hours A) for the first nap but I can't remember your history so that may not be right for you... sorry you're frustrated.

Yes, frustrated.  she recently decided she didn't want to take her first nap.  Sometimes we can get her to do it, but it'll be like 30-45 min only.  So it needs to be somewhere between her original first nap (9:30-10) and 12:30.  I also don't want the pm to be too long before bedtime.

Oh yes...very frustrated.
