well were in a bit of a rough go, seems it doesn't take much around here. should of listened to you Stacy, but it was DH in charge today, I was stuck at work!

yesterday with the short nap was asleep by 6:45, but then woke this am at 6:15, out of crib just before 7
nap was 11:55, but woke at 1:40,
windown at 6:30, and in crib for 6:40, but he is upset and haveing a tough time going off to sleep, so I think its 7 and he may be asleep now. So he is OT
I am really hopeing for a 6:30am wake-up at the earliest, but somehow I think we are in for a NW for sure. :'(

Good luck Deb, go to bed early yourself!

So, who wants to hear how stupid I am?? :

Well, Adalyn has never been a great napper.  She had her great week or two here and there, but pretty much goes like a roller coaster of getting OT easily, then catching up and doing well for a while, and it starts all over.  So when she's been waking at 1 hr or so, I just say "it's better than 45 min!" and go get her.  Well, for whatever reason I didn't go get her right away (we have a video monitor, so I dont' wait for her to call out to me normally.  I just get her after a bit).  She sat up rubbed her eyes and patted the blanket like she was putting it to sleep.  30 seconds later she laid down for another 20 min of sleep.

Who knows if she's would've done that all along!   ::) I learned a valuable lesson today!

thats great Andrea,
Noah stays in his crib for as long as he will have it,
ie . sometimes its 40min in the am,
I always try for at least 2hrs for nap time, so even if hes woken after 1hr30, then I try to keep him in there for the full 2.

Well, going back to one nap has helped the NW bigtime - we have 1 if any.  But still early waking since she was on the 2 naps GGRRR.

Due to trips away and daycare she has had several days of 1hr naps (not in a row though), plus school holidays and she just will not sleep if she can hear the kids next door, so things not going that great.  School goes back tomorrow YAY ;D I am sure that will help things.

She did take a 1.5 hr nap at daycare today.

Also, I am finding that she takes her best naps if they dont' start before 12:30.  BUT, with a 6:30 normal wakeup time, that is a 6 hr A time already, seems so soon to me.  With her current wakeups (which started on two naps) it is more like a 7 hr A time....so I am just going to play this one by ear.

With the shorter naps lately, we have been putting her to bed early, but I think this may also be reinforcing the early wake, so tonight she has gone down at 7:30, I think she is almost asleep, so should be asleep by 8.  If she sleeps til 6:30, I am happy, and think i should be able to get a 2 hr nap out of her tomorrow. :-\

We are back home.

First morning he slept til 7  :o .Took 2.5 hour nap yesterday and was bed by 8, sleeping by 8.20,  it was a bit too late.Last night was struggle to get him to sleep.

Yes, efka there are.   Andrea, my dd does this too.  Everytime MIL sees dd ask to have a nap, she freaks out on me!  Telling me, she doesn't know what i did, but she has never before seen a kid ASK to go for a nap!!  It makes me laugh.  I think dd does it because she knows that sleep really isn't an option...it has always been made available to her and IS a part of her day.  So if she wants to go, she asks...sometimes i have to wait to put pj's on her at nighttime...or she wants to go to bed right then!!  lOL!

Andrea again~
Always always give your lo time to MAYBE go back to sleep.  I too leave dd in the crib for as long as she will take it or the routine will allow, iykwim?  If you don't ever leave them, you arent really giving them the chance to go back to sleep...and in the same respect, they might not realize they can.  I wonder if because you usually come in to get her so fast, does she have trouble going back off after a NW'ing...could be something to think about??  (PS- i have no recollection how she goes back off after NW)

Deb- better luck tomorrow!  blarg.

So yesterday wasn't too bad.  With a final wake up time of 750am, we began our day.  The first A time wasn't that bad and dh and i went for a drive to Tim HOrton's to distract and give her some car time.  This helped loads.

750 awake
1230-2 nap
645 in bed, was WAY too crabby for human interaction
710 asleep!  AH!

The second A time however, was not fun!  Thank goodness dh was around to help diffuse the grouchiness.  I limited her nap to only 1.5hrs because i wanted her to sleep at bedtime.  After her short previous night and the shorter nap, she had a hard time getting thru the afternoon.  Dh took her for a bike ride, to again give her some rest right at her grouchiest!

When i put her into bed i kinda hoped she wouldn't fall asleep right away...mostly because i didn't want to let her sleep 12hrs.  She was very quiet and still (nothing like our playing marathons) and finally went to sleep at 710pm.

I did not hear a peep from her the whole night.

At 630am, my alarm went off...feeling a little bad about having to wake the monkey...i decided to wait till 645am.  That made me feel a little better, but ed off at how easily i gave her more sleep.  Anyways, i was happy i waited because she woke on her own at 640am...11.5hrs!!

Yippee.  This bodes well for us.  A great start already.  i might just keep the nap at 1.75hrs instead of 2hr for now...and the night at 11.5hrs.  I want to keep her falling asleep relatively fast.  Might try this today:

640 wake
1130/1145-130  nap
7 in bed the latest
730 asleep

Then im hoping (but now because ive said it, ive jinxed us) that tomorrow we can have a 7am wake.

Listen to me...im going insane, eh stacy?  LOL!

Good napping VIBES to all today!

thats great Sami!

with the 1hr40min nap yesterday, Noah was alseep by 7pm, no NW but woke at 6:10am, so not too bad, but still early, not sure what to do today,

I may try for a 5min car nap, sometime around 10:30, maybe that will delay the main nap til 12:30ish.
then bed can be more like jut after 7, asleep by 7:15 type thing, hopefully waking coser to 6:30.

if no car nap, then I'll do a 11:45 nap.

deb,

i think if he maybe stayed in the crib till 7, you could definitely push for 1145am....

but i guess you'll have to just see how he is.

Wind bad your way too??  Major rain here as well...yuck!  Good napping day however......

Sounds like some progress is being made on this thread. Yipee!!

Isabella seems to do best with A time for her 2nd A time, but worst with her 3rd.

So 1 = 2nd, 2=1st, 3=3rd

Therefore, do you think it's ok. If I stretch the first 2 out a bit and leave the last one short. The last 2 days we have done 10-10.35 and then 2-3.45 (it's 3.36 at the moment so I am guessing!). yesterday she went to bed by 7 and couldn't have stayed up any longer. She woke at 6.20 this morning. Is it ok to do this, when she wakes at 6 or should I also be working on her last A time as it is after her longer nap?

Thinking back to before we started this, she always had a short last A time. Sometimes nap 2 would end at 5, but she'd be asleep again by 7!! Since starting this and tweaking her routine it appears that stretching that last bit may cause EW here. Is that possible?

Things are definitely better since coming here and learning to cut nap 1 short, but we are months and months away from 1 nap I'm sure! Still, if things settle I will like this routine, means she can cat nap on the go in the morning and I still get to go out for lunch!

Ok. It's now 3.48, need to go and wake her!

oh yes Sami, wind and rain quite bad. my sister lives in Cochrane, she was saying her patio set was completley blown over, and the kids toys were getting blown all over the place. Our patio set is luckily still standing  ;)

Noah is soooo grumpy, basically walking around the house crying at everything. I honeslty had had enough by like 8:45am, tried distraction and change of scenery, but I've just layed him down at 9:25, he was squirming to get out of my arms and in to his crib and din't cry when I left. so I think he wants to sleep, ---I'll see in a few minutes whether or not he is sleeping or just chewing on his lovey.  ::) ok, nope now he is talking, I don't care, he and I both need a break!

LOL Sami,
its 9:40 and I thnk he IS asleep, so I'm going to get him in 10min, and then lay him down at 12. there was NO way he was going to make it to 11:45, so hopefully this works out okay, and we can do a normal, asleep by 7:15pm bedtime.

ooh big thunderstorm here and lots of rain :)

so yesterday Kubko slept well for naps (and the pm one was at ILs-was afraid of how it'd go as dh couldn't get the travel bed setup  ::) so he was just on a regular bed) 15 min in am and 2hr in pm..

but had trouble getting to sleep at bedtime (6.30) didn't fall asleep til 7.45.  And now that you've been talking about 'waiting' I've confirmed my thoughts last night- that I should've left him longer to 'work it out' on his own.  He was standing in his crib and crying, but nothing major, iykwim. But my friend and her fiance were over babysitting so dh and I could go out and I was afraid to leave with him like that, so I went in and I think now it's my fault-- I probably prolonged it more..  I think it's also because we had a very busy day yesterday, spent the day at the ILs and then went straight from there to a 1st bday party for 1 hour.
He cried out a few times in the night, but went back to sleep, but didn't seem to be sleeping so soundly, iykwim.. and he woke around 4 and would not go back to sleep with my talking to him from bed and I had to go to him and saw that his Grover was on the ground.  I gave it to him and soon after he went back off.(around 5!! agh!) woke at 6 for the day (which is good for us)

Sorry for that play-by-play thanks for listening if you have :)

good luck
Kristi

Kristi,
is it possible that the 2hr pm nap was just too late in the day, really I would not want it starting any later then 12:30. ending by 2:30 for a 6:30 bedtime.

well so much for my 10min am nap and pm nap starting at 12. its 12:25 and he is not so happy to be in his crib. I hope/pray he does choose to sleep soon.

yes, I agree. He was to go down at 12.30 but because of the travel bed trouble it was 12.40-2.40
