OK, I've done a catch up, but no time to post, I've got Nathan on my lap wanting to play "Tractor Tom" games online.

Quickly, Traci, I will PM you a recipe, it was for chocolate brownies, is that ok?

Andrea, LOVE the clothes, very groovy.

Very cute pics everyone, including the wee knitwear (I have gotten SOOOO much knitwear from my grandmother and it's about 2yrs too big and she's been complaining to my mum why the kids don't wear it!).  It's not like I can even take them around wearing it since the seasons totally don't match, I think she thinks that babies need to be wrapped so warm all the time.  Then when they do fit something she's forgotten she's given it to them. Bless her.  :)

Bec, the picture of the possums reminded me of one lady off a pregnancy forum saying her new pregnant nipples looked like possum noses!! LMAO

I too struggle with other mums who say they're leaving their babies to CIO (mainly off another forum I visit rather than IRL), esp when they say how proud they are that they've gotten "tough" and can now leave them to cry (at all of 3-4 wks) - I ususally come back with "don't feel like you need to get tough and leave them to cry, I really like the BW method because it means you don't need to do that."  It kind of gives them the benefit of the doubt that they are really softies and they feel they need to give in to what the rest of society is telling them and it's giving them permission to be soft.  Although I know that that's not how they have meant the comment.

OK, will check in later, we have  playgroup this morning.

Here are our snowy day pics.
Hayley, can you see Ryan's pj's?  They say, "A Little Bear Bum" and I think of you and Daniel whenver he wears them. He has a matching cap, too (like old timey pj's, I think).

Ryan's grandma bought these overalls while I was pg and we didn't know if it was a boy or girl.  They didn't seem so male until we put them on him.   :)  (Cathy, not trying to compare mil outfits. You would clearly win that one.    )

Great design, Andrea! Taylor is a picture perfect model... look at that smile! I hope you and DH are feeling better. I bet the shower helped

Too cute pictures, Kate! Isn't it so adorable when the lo notices something out the window? And the pj bum is positively "smackable"! and 120 Christmas cards? How do you keep up? If that were me, I would have to start November 1st!

Traci... keep at the night wakings! About naps, are you watching cues or the clock? I have noticed that Arwyn conforms to the clock, almost no matter what time she gets up in the morning or from her last nap. Worth a try?

Cathy...  it is cute though, in a very loving, MIL-made way.

Nikki... thanks for that comment... am storing it in my "tactful box" as I have a tendency to stick my foot in my mouth!

Well... since we are talking about outfits, I have an abundance of asian knock-off-y type stuff that my mother bought from Hong Kong.  She keeps asking why Arwyn is never wearing some of that stuff. I keep telling her the clothes are too big. I am hoping she will forget.

Kate... I have an addition to the ellipse (...) and I can't stop it. I think it is because emotions are so hard to convey in print??

Kate - beautiful pics of Ryan and the snow - I think your snow is headed our way as we have some in the forecast

Michelle - hope the flight went well - and thanks for the reassurance about day care - she hasn't even been there two months yet, so I guess her immune system is still adjusting -- DH and I went to Victoria on our honeymoon (and Seattle and Vancouver) - lovely place

Ankie - SO hard to bite your tongue at the mom letting her tiny LO CIO like that...I for one couldn't handle that.  When Katie was tiny, DH would say, just wait 5 minutes before you get her when she cried (wihch was quite a bit at first) - I usually lasted about 1.5 minutes if that, just didn't feel comfortable.

Andrea - hope you are feeling better - love the outfit, can't wait to see more.

Katie is sleeping - it's 5:15!  We were at the mall all afternoon, so no naps happening there.  Had to put her down for some sort of sleep or she's just too much to deal with at bedtime.

Hey y'all.  I made it through the first day.  I am racing to post and get outta here to pick up the babe.  Just hoping I can get home intime for her dinner so she doesn't loose it on the way...
Had a great first day.
Loved reading all of your posts today, loved the pics...laughed out loud at soooo many things.  OMG.  Just too funny.
Can't wait to chat tomorrow.
Don't know if I'll check back tonight or not.
DH sent flowers and chocolates  to me at work today...so sweet so I definately want to give him some attention tonight.  He has been wonderful with the transition.
Talk to you soon.

Hi, great news Hannah, so pleased for you that it all went well. Chocs and flowers.... very impressed!

Andrea, cute outfits, very original. You must be getting close to launching, how exciting.

Bec, I love it. Isn't it funny when they discover the camera.

Quick update here, as I need to make DH coffee (he made lunch). Daniel slept from 7-7! Yay! He grumbled/called out in his sleep a few times but when I went to him he was asleep. I think he was too hot. So less clothes again for him tonight. I first heard him at 7.15am but think he was awake before that. We had problems getting him to sleep for his first nap. Ended up being awake 4 hours. I think somehow we missed the 'window', but the 'blinds' were closed on both of us so didn't get him down at the right time. I ended up giving him his bottle and he then went off to sleep. He was close on 4 hours since his last. He's now been asleep 2h 20m. I think part of the problem is because he slept thru the night for 12 hours he wasn't tired when his body normally wants to go to sleep between 8.30-9am, and then he just couldn't figure it out. Also, I'd left him with DH while I went to my friends for coffee and he may not be used to DH putting him down as it's been a couple of weeks. Anyway, I'm sure we'll get thru the day fine, just may need a buggy walk thisafternoon for another short nap.

He's skipped his normal lunch time, so I'll give him that when he wakes. Mmmm very strange day it will be for Daniel.

We saw THe Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe last night. Really good. I wouldn't say it's a kids movie as there's a couple of big fight scenes it it. Great scenery and costumes. For those of you who don't know it's by a NZ director in conjunction with Disney Studios. And filmed in NZ. One of the scenes was filmed in one of the airforce hangars where we used to live. Anyway, well worth the viewing I thought.

Gotta go, as DH has just let me know the jugs boiled.... mmmmmm I think he really wants his coffee!!!

Bec-hilarious pic!

Kate-congrats on the sleep, will try to remember you as inspiration tonight sometime around 2am.  and love the pics, the bear bum is so cute :D

Ankie-so strong you are not saying anything.  CIO on a baby so tiny. that makes me very sad

Ankie-maybe I'll have to look at the clock closer.  I am truly confused now.  For his last A time the other day he fell asleep at 3.45 A and it was 5:30...the last couple days he hasn't gone down until 4:20 A.  Wonder if he's way overtired at that point   I just don't know what to do really.

Hannah-how lovely about the flowers and chocolates.  so happy it went well for you.

For Micky and Lisa-do you guys use different sippy cups for water, juice, milk...or the same one for all three?  Just curious as I tried to trick Cole today into taking formula from his sippy.  He took about 1 oz before he realized then was having none of it.  Might try breast milk tomorrow if i can get enough pumped.

naps today were 1:15 and 45 min.  figured the 45 was okay as it put us on track for 6:30 bed and 4 hour A time.  He didn't go down until 7:00.  again, 12 hours after waking.  I'm not sure what to make of it.  Maybe he needs to go down earlier...might be overtired.  He's all over the place this kid.

Anyway, after the last couple of nights I figure it can't get any worse.  Going to try not feeding him at all again.  Not sure how long he would have gone last night if I didn't do a DF at 10:40.  So, you heard it here.  I think DH is feeling better too, so he can help, if not at night then at least in the am so I can sleep.

gotta run and have dinner now.

Hello, all! We had a wonderful snow day today. We snuggled and played and she watched a children's Christmas video while I made cookies. THen I watched part of White Christmas (my favorite Christmas movie) during her nap. It was a great day!

ANKIE--I know how frustrating it is to watch a friend put their child through that. It's so hard to not jump in and say something. I think you did great! I agree with NIKKI that so many people think they're SUPPOSED to let babies CIO. I was reading "What to Expect the First Year" and I was surprised that they advocate CIO. It actually said, "It will be hard at first for you to let your baby cry, but he/she will eventually go to sleep." I couldn't believe it!!!!

Kate--cute pics! Did your snow last? Ours is starting to melt already.

Hannah--congrats on your first day at work, and way to go to DH for remembering to treat you extra special on your day!!!

I know there's been some discussion on how many feeds you're still doing. We're at 5 now, with the DF, but we're in the process of dropping that. Within a week or so, we should be at 4. My question is...those of you doing only 3 feeds, when did you drop the 4th feed?

hi girls

olivia...we are still on 4 formula feeds a day.  I don't see any end in sight to drop it down to 3.  Jack's bottles are sometimes smaller after his solids but he is still wanting the 3 oclock snack.

Traci>>> we are using the nuby for all formula feeds (I only have one....I'm going to buy more and then probably use the nuby for everything)  For juice and water we are using a straw and cup.  Although he does get very excited when he sees the straw so I might just stick with it and maybe find a bottle with a straw. I have to make sure the straw is short enough otherwise Jackson will give up after awhile if he figures there is nothing in the cup to suck hard enough.

To everyone who posted pics, just love them, I so enjoy seeing all of them, keep 'em coming

Kate - congrats on the sleeping....yeah!

Posted: Thu Dec 08, 2005 7:50 pm    Post subject:

Ankie - OMG I could never imagine CIO with a baby so very young...wow, my heart aches for the lo.

Hannah-yes I'm so happy I met Traci at the mall that day

Traci - sorry about your night sweetie, hoping tonight is better, and as for Brady's bum, still rash and still very raw and sore.  :(

Thanks for all the info on the yougurt ladies.... :)

We didn't have a great night either, although I think Traci's was a bit worse last night it seems. We had wakings about every 45 minutes or so, almost like he just couldn't get passed that window... :?  :?:  I don't know. I'm so hoping for a better night tonight.  I wish my dh could help out at night, but it just can't happen here, although he does help out on the weekend so that is good, but...his hours are so long and hard that it just doesn't seem fair to wake him to help out, I'm home and can nap when Brady does etc...so for now its Brady and I and the night.... :?

Brady had his PED appt yesterday. He's growing well, reflux is acting up a lot today, lots of spit ups and some choking episodes.... :(  but he is doing well. Great news....the lump I was concerned about is apparently a gland forming....hmmm silly me you'd think I would have known that....I feel so stupid, but its not quite where our glands would be swollen on the sides of our neck, it was the size of a pea, hard and on the base of his neck at the back, where his neck and head join, anyway, as you know I was a bit concerned, dh and my mom told me it was nothing, but glad I had it checked anyway, makes me feel stupid I didn't know it was a gland, but glad thats all it is.

I haven't done my Christmas cards yet....I"m so far behind.... I need to get them done soon to get them all out!!! Although had a bit of a set back today, all those nice prof. pics I had done, well they won't be in now...not for Christmas cards anyway....the film got ruined and I'm sooo upset, I have to have them redone, but that is going to take forever.  :x  I'm really bummed about the whole thing.

Well, off for now.

Holly, nothing silly at all about getting that lump checked out.  I wouldn't put a lump on the back of the neck down to being a gland - didn't even know they existed there?  Anyway, pleased to hear it was nothing, at least now you can put your mind to rest instead of always wondering.

Hannah, so sweet of your DH to send flowers and chocolates.  :D

OK, off to cook something for the kids for dinner.

Bec-she really is a doll!  my gosh she looks a lot like daddy don't you think?
Yay for Brady!

BTW, in case any of you were wondering, we did not continue to sleep on the puked on sheets...I did get up and change them and they were happily lying on the floor waiting to be washed while I posted this morning!      didn't want you guys to think I was totally nasty!

So to continue with Traci's game...
you know you are addicted to the BW site when:
you contstanly think in your head DH and DD/DS MIL, ROTFLMAO and all other acronyms as you have conversations with people!
you're so consumed with reading posts that you completely miss the obvious sexual advances DH is making at 11 o'clock at night!
Ladies, please continue...

So thanks for all the compliments on the outfit.  We think it is pretty jazzy!
Traci-I had the screen printer do some of the more complicated artwork designs first and now he is doing some of the funny sayings.

Oh yeah, I finally got Taylor to drink h2o out of a cup today.  I finally got a Nuby and made the water ice cold and she loved it!  she would drink and then get all smiley and giggly...soooo cute.

We are taking our christams cards this weekend and should have them completed by Tuesday or Wednesday, and mailed out by next weekend...so some of you may get them in time and some may not, but you will all get them I promise!

BTW, so glad your day went well Hannah!  Can't wait to chat tomorrow night and hear all about it.

Hi girls... OMG I forgot to tell you all, Daniel's crawling forward!!!  :D He started yesterday. I thought he did it in the morning but wasn't sure, then just after DH got home he did it again a few times. Yay! So exciting. No more frustrating grizzles cos he can't get where he wants to. Still only moving a few 'steps/crawls' not far yet, but that's fine. Giving me a chance to work out what's going to have to be moved. And I found him in his sleeping bag on hands and knees in his cot today! I guess we should probably drop the level of the cot down now then. Or do I wait until he's pulling up/standing?

Holly, yay for Brady, watch out it might not take long. Daniel's gone from sitting happily to crawling in about 3 weeks.

Kate I forgot to say how I loved the little bear PJ's. There's a few Little Bear things over here, but I'm hoping to get them for Christmas as they're from Pumpkin Patch therefore expensive. If not, I'll just have to splash out and get them.

Andrea, good idea about trying really cold water for Taylor. Something different I guess.

Holly and Traci, just keep telling yourselves (and your LO's) it can ONLY get BETTER. And it will. Thinking of you guys I know how hard it is.

Better go bathtime awaits. DH is out doing the grocery shopping, getting my Xmas present and picking up pizza for dinner, all things I'm really happy he's doing!     So don't mind doing bathing.

night night ladies and little ones!
