Your DD isn't teething is she? Has she got her canines or 2nd yr molars yet? This sounds just like how my DD was a while ago and it turned out that our week of awful NW and BT refusal was actually down to teeth!

She hasnt got her 2nd molars yet. We're trying pain meds before bed tonight to see if that helps. Something is definitely bothering her but she's fine in the day so its a bit confusing. Pain at night is always worse though isn't it

Yeah with my DD we had no clue in the day she was teething with her canines but nights were awful. It wasn't when they cut so much but worse afterwards when the final widest part was coming through. If the pain meds work then you know something is going on. Hope you have a better night.

Thanks, me too. How long did they take to cut? Did your LO need shorter A times when they were cutting?

Well the canines were weird and so different to any other teeth. All other teeth we had awful NW where DD would be so upset and inconsolable for ages. Then the very next day she would have a new tooth just cut through. With canines we had 2nights in a row with a couple of NW but resettled quick, nothing major and I was amazed to see the next day that 3 canines had all cut at once, when the 4th one cut we had no NW at all. But then about 2 weeks later NW were awful for about a week and when I looked, all of the gums around the 3 canines were red and swollen. Pain meds really helped though once I worked out what the problem was!!! Oh and yes DD always needs about 30 mins less A time when teething and EBT too.

I think teething must be the issue as she slept from 7.20pm until 3.30am (woke up crying and took half an hour to settle) and then was up at 6.30am. So the pain meds helped.

When did your DD's canines cut through? It could well be 2nd molars if she doesn't have them yet. They are supposed to be quite bad! Have you managed to have a look or feel at the back of her mouth? At least with the pain meds working you know what is going on though.

Her canines cut a couple of months ago. I haven't been able to have a good look yet, she'll never let me feel her gums. We've done pain meds again tonight (night 5 of bad NW's) I'll try and get a good look tomorrow to see how far along they are. I'm sticking to the longer nap for a bit, she needs it atm.

Totally agree with that longer nap hun, if she is teething or ill in some way DD will likely need to catch up on sleep for a bit.

She woke at 6am this morning - not sure why. She seemed tired at BT so Im wondering if shes OT? We've stuck with the 1.5 hour nap from 12.30-2 but shes not been settling until 7.30 at BT.

NW's last night were only 1.30am briefly so that was good.

She's at the childminders today and Ive asked her to let her sleep for 1 hour 45, we'll see how she does. If that doesnt happen then Ill try for an early BT

She only slept for 30 mins. Her childminder tried to put her down at 11am because she seemed so tired but that didnt happen so she kept her going until the usual time and she only slept 12.45-1.15!
She looks exhausted so Ive gone for the earliest BT possible and she was asleep at 6.45pm (a record) I cuddled her until she was drowsy and she settled very quickly.

It could well be that DD needs more sleep and shorter A times because of the teething. She will likely get OT more quickly so I am sure you are right. We often get EW with teething and also OT too. Fingers Xd the EBT works for you.

Yeah its a shame she only had 30 mins yesterday BUT
She sttn! 6.45pm-5.50am

Should I still go for a 1.5 hour nap today? Or just see how she is? It was so lovely having an undisturbed night, I really needed it! And BT was lovely too!

You could go for an hour nap again but I would see how DD seems first. Sometimes they STTN after a bad day just from sheer exhaustion so maybe not something you could do everyday. It might be that every few days or after a bad night you need to let DD have a longer nap to catch up yk?
