Here's a pic I just took of D playing with her ball/slot toy and I just missed her doing some "multi-tasking" - she was posting a ball and pumping the spinning top toy at the same time!   8)

Andrea... Thanks so much. You really made me feel a lot better and I am now a teary-eyed mommy. You're awesome. We'll be housebound and in perpetual mental anguish together.

Nikki... Danielle is super cute & super smart! Multi-tasking already? She'll make a great business woman one day!

About the meat... I plan on steaming chicken breast, plain to begin with. I have tonnes of puree veggies left so, I am planning to chop up the chicken in the chopper so that there is some texture left and then add the veggies. I sure hope Arwyn likes it as we are struggling to work through the mountain of food I have made. Eats so poorly, that one! According to my friend, there is "clean meat" vs. ??? (I can only remember the clean meat part) and those are the non-processed kind... straight from the animal I guess. So, no hotdogs, sausages, etc. I think. I think I will do chicken, pork and then beef. I had wanted to start with turkey as I will have lots left over but ???

Congee is rice porridge... my mom says that that is all I ate when I was an infant before progressing to mushy rice. She thinks it is ridiculous that I am starting so very late for Arwyn. She just brought me all the stuff she used to make my baby rice. I don't have one of those fancy rice cookers that make congee so I have to use a pot. I am still working on getting it right... I currently end up with mushy rice each time. Karen, on second thought, please PM me the recipe too!

Good night all... my DH has been very proactive tonight. He has been checking on Arwyn all night and moving her back to the middle of the crib before she bonks her head and wakes herself up so... no DF again. I did make her eat tonnes at dinner tonight and my fingers, toes, and all other appendages are crossed for a good night. On that note, good night... it is midnight over here.

Nikki-How cute is Danielle! Sienna is on the move at last, but she still ain't that good at sitting...she topples sideways!!
Any ideas girls.?? Sienna is refusing to Bfeed....ie

Bf at 7am and then won't take another feed until 12 than maybe 4 or 5..Today she has only taken one side at both feeds, so I am feeling it OOWWWW..
NOT self weaning I hope!!!
May have to post this on BF boards sorry..
Hoping it is her teeth.
By the way anyone else been bitten>??Thats her other trick..Now I've heard girls are more prone to biting than boys, could it be true??

Bianca biten? Oh gosh yes!!  A LOT!!!  more often when they are working on a tooth coming in.  The other day Hannah chomped down and wouldn't let go.  I had my finger pushing down on her chin and was saying "let go of mommy.  That hurts" as calmly as possible but I'm SURE she heard the pain in my voice! :) But instead of opening up she pulled off without releasing her bite!! YOUCH!!!!!  Kaia also bites my face! Comes in for a nice sweet kiss that ends with a little bite of my chin or cheek.  I fall for it everytime because I love those kisses so much.  But actually I just say "oh no biting mommy please that hurts" and she's eased up a bit (although a tooth just popped through so it's likely more that her gums are fine now and less that she has any regard for what I'm asking - but I like to live in my own dreamland sometimes :) :) )

Nikki Danielle really does sit up good and solid.  K&H both topple within a few minutes.  Hannah does the combat crawl but Kaia can't be bothered.  My girlfriend has two little ones and niether attempted to ever crawl - just went straight to walking around holding her hands when they were ready.  Her youngest is 10.5months and her oldest 3 and she's as smart as a whip (if we were judging and labelling kids that is ;)).  I think it's quite brilliant really, not to crawl.  I think she sees that there are better ways to get around than lying your face on the floor where everyone puts their bums and feet :).  And here on this side of the ocean crawling is no longer considered a developmental milestone anyway.    I personally, didn't walk till I was 18months old.  Barely moved.  I was tooooo fat!!  Now I'm tall and thin and walk really really well :)  My grandfather asked my mom if I was retarded! but as far as I can tell I'm not :P

Ankie, gosh girl I've been thinking about you lots.  Hope things smooth out over there.  Being tired is just about the worst I think!!!! IT SUCKS!!

Karen - got your ecard :) thanks.  How funny - you and Ankie picked the same singing guys - Zoe is THRILLED!!! :)

I posted a pic in the Photo Gallery of the girls for anyone interested... it's the same as my new avatar but well bigger :)

Ankie LOL at the vaccum comparison, my DH said the same thing - oh well there will plenty of that to come!  HUGS to you and Arwyn!!

Judy - Your girls are beautiful!!  ROTFLMAO, at you as a big fat baby and your grandpa's comment!!

Holly - welcome back thanks for the poem!

Traci - how was your night?

Nikki - Sounds like you have a philosopher on your hands!  My mom told me that I could talk in sentences before I could walk, we used to have conversations about it  !

Also Sophie is the spitting image of me as a baby  8)  and I got this pic when I went in to wake her from her nap yesterday.  There are a tonne of pictures of me as a baby, sleeping like this, I guess it isn't just our faces that look alike!

Judy - that pic is gorgeous.  I'm impressed that even Hannah has a big smile on her face.  Katie has that same fleece that Kaia does.  I love how coordinated they all are.  (I said to Katie - "Look Katie, your friend Kaia has the same fleece as you" - you guys must all think I'm nuts.)  I too laughed pretty hard at your Grandpa's comment.

Richelle - that's a great picture.  I love how her little bum is sticking up in the air.

Ankie - fingers crossed for you - hope all went well.

Traci - how are you feeling?

Bianca - I've gotten bitten too, especially when teeth are coming in.  With her nursing less and biting, do you think she's getting some teeth?

Holly - good to see you - and thanks for the lovely poem!

That's about it - I'm off to finish my Christmas shopping as I just found out that a bunch of stuff I ordered online isn't going to make it by Christmas after all (despite them saying it would initially) grrr....stupid online ordering.

Not much time to catch up...love all the pics!

Sorry, I didn't have time to really read (just skimmed) but HUGS to everyone having sleep (or other) issues. And high-fives to those having a great time! I hope everyone is managing to get things done for Christmas. We had a crazy day yesterday, finishing errands and Liv decided to be VERY clingy. So I didn't get much done once we did get home. I can't decide if she's starting to get sick, or is just thrown off by all of our craziness (seems we've been on the go since Sat). I tried to spend an extra few minutes playing with her in her room this morning, and she seems to be doing better. So, hopefully she just needed a little extra "mommy time."

Didn't get a lot of sleep last night...I was up late finishing Christmas stuff, then Liv decided to wake up early. I'm not sure why. She had soaked through her PJs...maybe that was it. Changed her, fed her, and back to bed for another 1.5 hr. But it still didn't seem like enough. And we have more running to do today! DH and I are doing our Christmas tonight, PLUS I have to clean the house, pack, and still buy a couple presents before we leave on FRIDAY MORNING!!! Aaauuuugghhh!!! Better get started!

Have a great day, girls! I'll try to check in later.

Hi again. Molly just went for her a.m. nap and didn't fight me on it at all so I am having a few moments peace, eating my cereal, drinking my coffee and reading about my friends and their wonderful babies!

Holly - nice to "see" you back and that poem was wonderful. Thank you for thinking of sharing it with us!

Judy - you are too funny!! Too fat to crawl eh?? LMAO!!  And Grandpa?? Oh my gosh, that would have had me splitting a gut!!  Molly is only sitting as well, no crawling either. She doesn't like to have her face where the feet and butts are either I guess!! LOL

Nikki - Molly and Danielle sound about the same. Yup, both are intellectuals!!  Heeheehee.  She waves, says "DaDa" and "MaMa", plays peek-a-boo, says "Shhhhhhhh" and also loves to stack her little blocks. My son was exactly the same way though. Didn't crawl until 10 months and then rarely did, only when he absolutely had to. Then walked out of the blue on his 1st birthday. They seem to be "old souls". Have to watch and investigate everything very thoroughly before jumping in I suppose.

Richelle - LOVE that picture. Such a cute squishy bum poking out.

Well, we are off to brave that huge mall again. Forgot one present for my Mom. If we get there when it just opens it isn't too bad. Hope everyone has a great day/night. It's the shortest day of the year here today...the day where we get the least amount of hours of daylight.   After today though, the days start getting longer!! Does that mean summer is right around the corner????

OMG Richelle I had tears in my eyes laughing at that pic of Sophie!!  I am so like that - grabbing the camera for pictures of funny things.. and hurts too. Bloody nose?  Fat lip?  Ok first I make sure the kid's ok but then I rush off to get the camera and snap a shot!!  Aren't I just horrible?  Have to capture these memories... :)

Oh man that is too cute!

We have been having a rough coupel of days lately  :( .  I think it is teeth but ... who knows anymore.  We have had 3 days of 30 min naps where Carter wakes screaming and can't be calmed unless I bf.  Then last night we were up EVERY hour from 10:30 until 4:30 (well I was actually, DH was sound asleep in bed).  He wakes up and in seconds is hysterical.  I have no idea what is wrong.  His top tooth is halfway in and teh 2nd top tooth is making an appearance but he has never been this fussy for teeth.  So far today (it is noon) and he hasn't had a nap at all.  I had to go to a Dr's appt in the U.S and he didn't sleep in the car  :(

I went to the ped yesterday for 9 mon check -up.  Carter weighs in at a whopping 18.5 lbs and 30 inches long.  I thought for sure he would have been bigger than that.   That's kinda small compared to all these other Mar/Apr babies!!  I asked teh Dr about all this fussiness and he didn't believe me.  Carter always "hams" it up for the ped because he loves going to the Dr.

Also, he seems to be developing major behavious issues.  Isn't he too young for that???  He lunges and tries to bite our faces.  Also, lately he wants to poke our eyes, ears, nose, mouth and if we say "no thank you Carter, Mommy doesn't like that" he goes nuts and tries even hardder to do it.  If we redirect his hand away he gets more determined.  I am hoping that it is just his teeth causing all this weird/crazy behaviour because I miss my little snugglebutt!!!

I only had a chance to skim the last few pages because all I hear all day is whahhhh whahhh whahhhh and my brain is fried but here goes:

Micky : Yeah for the casts coming off!  What a trooper!

Hayley:  Love the new box!

Richelle:  Carter sits in the front of the shopping cart and loves it.  I just have to make sure he doesn't pull things off the shelves.

Nikki:  Carter doesn't move much either.  No crawling here.  He will push himself backwards on his belly but that is about it. He just learned how to go from sitting to belly and he still bangs his head on teh ground most of teh time when he does it.

Ankie: Hugs to you!  You are definitely tough for dealing with this for so long.  I am a wreck after 3 days!

Karen:  Love the pic of Sam and Santa

Erin:  I too am having problems with online Xmas gifts.  I have  abunch that aren't going to make it on time!!  I got your card btw ... love the pic!  Katie's eyes are so blue!!

Ok, that's it .. I am done.  Going to try and put fussy pants down for a nap.  Totally off schedule right now.  We have to leave for Toronto tomorrow for Xmas holidays whcih should be fun with a cranky, fussy baby!!

Cathy, as hard as it is at times, keep in mind that YOU know that biting and poking hurts.  Carter doesn't get that.  He's just gaining more control of his hands (and mouth ;)) and putting them to use.  AND he'll take your reaction and read it totally differently that you intend perhaps and that will motivate him even more.  Seems they love to see that they can create reactions in their world.  And so they should... it's just that we expect them to understand when we are upset/hurt and not do that thing anymore and this isn't usually the reaction it gets from them.  Heck Zoe at 3 1/2 is just starting to care how her actions affect others and sometimes she's thrilled to bother people (moreso if I'm around... when her and Sarah went to my girlfriend's when I was at work she was always concerned that her sister be happy and healthy and not hurt.. but when I'm around I swear her mission is the opposite. )

I wouldn't be surprised if it IS teeth.  AND can I just say I find the phases of the moon really does have a big affect in this house....  for about4 days or so around a full moon the girls are wild and very irritable.  I've read up on it and seems the full moon does affect body fluid levels and such so there's possibly something to it...

Hello all.
OK, you know your addicted to the bw site when you think "If only my family/friends/husband/child would leave me alone for a cotton pickin' minute then I could really focus on what's happening with the March/April thread!!!"

So, my sister called yesterday while i was posting and that just set the whole evening in motion....with no time for me to get back on.

Gorgeous pics Karen, Nikki, Bec and Hayley.  The box is precious.  Danielle's hair is precious!!  And Sam's smile..yummy!  Bec, do you crresspond with Nirinjan?

Micky hope you are getting all geared up.  Good for you for taking advatage of MIL's help.  I totally KWYM I used to cringe about MIL taking Sophie and now I am sooo thankful to have her she is absolutely a lofe saver.

Cathy, I know this is probably kind of annoying to hear but it really could be his teeth.  I have heard the top two can be especially difficult and painful.  Hugs to you.  Hope your day today and night tonight go better!

Bec the heat!! Crikey! When we were in chicago this Junly it was even hotter than that and it was really hard on Sophie....although that was pre-bw and I suspect she was chronically overtired too...but still I hear you about the heat.  Good idea to hang out in the pool.

Traci, yeah for your dad being home for Christmas.  and congrats on the bonus.  We had a double BE day yesterday too....hmmm....that Julie Aigner-Clark sure does take good care of Sophie on her cranky days :)

Erin-lol about showing Katie her "friends". Sophie found my basket of cards today under the tree so I showed them all to her..."and this is Ryan...isn't he cute?...He's your friend in.... And this is katie...look at those eyes..." You get the picture.  She loved it.

Richelle.  Good for you for the potty.  I would be doing the same if I was at home, although Sophie is not a predictable pooper.  LOL Ankie at it being like getting a vac for your birthday!!! SOoo true!  And the picture! What a cute little tiny girlfriend bum.

Judy...lol about their being better ways to get around that dragging yourself across the floor where people's bums and feet go...eeewwww.  And you retarded?  People are too funny.

OK, as for me, I am NOT going to get cards out in time, obviously.  I feel horrible because I have so enjoyed all of the cards.  I have been trying to get a picture of our family which is hard because brendan is only with us on occassion etc etc...In retrospect i should have just gone with one  already had but I wanted it to be "Christmasy"  Sooooo anyhow, I am still planning on sending them, but they will be Happy New Year cards instead.  I hope that's OK.  I probably should have opted out because of going back to work etc...but I am glad I didn't becasue I love all of the cards and pics.

I am off today to make cookies over at Amy's. Sophie will come with me and nap there.  Gingerbread yum.

Finished shopping yesterday yeah!

Another call...pesky friends...I'll check in later.
Hannah

True... no more obvious than in a school! Around full moon, those little ones just go nuts and all weird.

Cathy... Arwyn is doing that too. She doesn't do it hard but she loves to poke in my mouth and tries to go up my nose (gross) and everything. I usually nibble on her finger if she is being gentle. If not, I do the same as you, and tell her it hursts, etc. She also bites anything she can access when the mood strikes her. Yesterday, she bit my cheek, shoulder, the ball of my foot, DH's leg and arm. She would have bitten more but we noticed before the chomp.

Richelle... too cute! I love the bum in the air!

Judy... what a comment from your grandpa! And hee, hee on being too fat to move when you were little... my sister had the same problem.

Molly & Nancy... good luck with the shopping! Some of our online gifts didn't make it either and I am not holding my breath.

Bianca... Arwyn is not super thrilled with her 11 & 3 BF either. I have tried moving it back and it helps but she still doesn't take very much. I noticed that supply is down due to that. Biting... yup... I feel the pain across the ocean. Arwyn did that for a long while, after she got her first two teeth. I was quite adamant about her not doing it and stuck my finger in her mouth the second I felt the bite. It made her cry but did not deter her from BFing within seconds of it so... I did it for about 3 days and the biting stopped shortly after that.

Night was better. Whew... no night feeding. She woke at 12:38 and I put her back down by 12:49. Stayed in the room until 1:00 and she was good until 4 am when DH went in to re-settle her after she got stuck. So, feeling a renewed positive attitude here that we can lick this night waking thing without feeding.

Here is my question... we know that Arwyn is sleep-crawling and waking herself up. What can we do? Last night, DH took the pro-active approach and kept going in every 1.5 hours to pull her back down to the base of her crib to give her crawling room. So... if we keep doing this, she will probably never learn not to crawl in her crib during the night. On the other hand, it prevented her from waking up about 4 times last night. Our gut tells us there is nothing we can do about this sleep-crawling thing. The book BWSAYP just indicates random wakings are developmental and doesn't say anything more about it. What do you girls think?

Woohoo. the mail came right after I posted. Thanks for the card Bec and Andrea!

Hannah... no problem on the card. Just makes me happy knowing there will be more mail for me later on!!

Andrea... did you make that picture yourself? I love it. I wanted to do that for our cards but nobody offered a design like that. So... knowing you, you probably did it yourself!!

BTW, Micky... I love the handmade card. Gorgeous.
