Meg, he might have woken early from nap because he's sick also. Now that mine is off the runny nose, I can see how much it affected him. I didn't realize that the runny nose could have made that much difference at the time because he was mostly sleeping ok and happy while awake, but now there's definitely a difference in his ability to ride out those wakings where he's had enough sleep to wake up and notice he's uncomfortable, but not enough sleep to be happy. Maybe because of the big sleep last night, he woke a little more than usual at the 1.25 transition, then couldn't go back because he wasn't feeling great?
MRenton -- when they're first transitioning, a lot of us have found that they need a snack or a bit of distraction to get over that 10 hump of when they used to take a nap. So, that's a another thing to to try. During this transition, I've been doing both of the things you mentioned...when LO wakes up late enough to make it to the time for one nap, we go for the later nap; if not, or the nap is short, we'll offer the afternoon nap, and if that doesn't work, we go for early bedtime. As far as lengthening the naps, some of the others on this board will be more help there, since I also have one of those guys who doesn't seem to need as much sleep as others, but I can say that the more and more his schedule seems to be settling in, the longer the naps seem to be getting.
Good luck to everyone today!
