Goodmorning!

Holly, well done, we all knew it would get better for you and it looks like things are improving greatly. Soon you won't remember those sleepless nights, they'll be a distant memory.

Erin, I've just realised how silly some city/town names are.... You're off to Buffalo, we live next to a town called Bulls... you'd think town planners could be more original! Actually, Bulls was the surname of some guy from around here, but his first name was James. Why didn't they call it Jamestown, sounds so much better than Bulls.

I keep thinking I've missed reading posts when some stuff is talked about (maybe I have) or do things get talked about in the chats then brought back here? Hopefully, that way my brain isn't too mummified. EG the Black, white and grey comment. I guess I'll just have to get with the play and join in the chats so I don't miss out!

We had a terrible night last night with Daniel awake EVERY HOUR! THismorning I see he's sneezing and got a runny nose, so at least that explains his terrible night. Hopefully it won't last long as we're flying on Friday. Funny thing is that he's going NUTS thismorning. Full of energy, bouncing of the walls. The only thing I can do with im to get him to sit still happily is put on Baby Mozart. Even still he's shaking his toys, squealing, getting frustrated cos he can't crawl etc. Oh great, what a crazy day ahead of me I've got. My coffee group is meant to be coming here tomorrow, I better pre-warn of the runny nose.

Crikey, I just wiped his nose and you'd think I'd turned off Baby Mozart!!! What a performance!

I better go give my little man some cuddles. See you later.

Early mornign nappy brain has set in today and I forgot to ask a question :?:

Is anyone elses lo's resisting sitting in highchair, carseat?  James has learnt to fully extend legs and cry when being put into these.  I distract him and he sits down.  Don't you just love the little developmental milestones that they do.......... :?  :?

well, James is still asleep - it is 6:10am.  Does anyone else get worried when they suddenly change?  Soemtimes I get too scared to go in and get DH to do it  When does the risk of SIDS end?  :(  Is is after a year?

Hey girls,

Internet was down all day until now so I've not had a chance to catch up.  I think I smell a poop in the exersaucer but I'm sure it can wait a few moments.

Thanks for the tips on the bottle.  I gave it a whirl today and he took 3 oz. of formula.  YAY!  Wouldn't take more though.  Not sure why.  Tried and tried and tried again.  He seemed to want to hold it himself so I just helped balance it.  But than later he didn't want me to help at all so you can imagine how successful that was.  Oh well, baby steps for my baby:)  He then took a quick feed off one side.

Last night he slept from 6pm until 12:15am!  I fed and then he was up at 4:30, fed and down until 5:50.  So he switched his longer feed window.  Weird.  I was really hoping he might surprise me and go all the way until 4:30.  I don't think that will happen until I introduce some protein into his diet.  I think I might start with tofu...good idea girls! Do you mash it up?  Combine it with anything?  It's pretty bland as I remember.

I'm up for changing the chat too.  UK chat is friday but they should be off by 9EST, if not then they're just crazy!

OH YA-I think Cole has started saying mama!  Not sure if he knows that it's my name...but he'll say mama and I'll turn and say "yes Cole" then turn away and he'll say it again.
of course, DH was feeding him breakfast this morning and from upstairs i heard mamamammamamamam, so I guess it's not directed at me.

without the internet i had a chance to work on some photography projects.  I've printed off 3 black and white prints to go in these 3X3 frames we have.  One of his hand holding my finger, one of his feet and one of his face close up.  Can't wait to put them up!  Maybe I'll include a pic of the pics.  oops, he's going up the stairs.
bye

9pm est would be 2am in the uk, so yes they would be nuts if they were still on, no biggie if they were, it would be a good way to meet other mums again.
Hannah, thanks for the support on the new job. I am going to try and cut my hair on friday, I tried the other day but it was super busy. I will try to put up pic tho.
It sems so weird that I will be going to work, but it won't be at a coffee shop, I feel all grown up starting an office job.
K...bum duty and supper is awaiting me....just a quick q...do you steam asparagus when you cook it, I tried it at the restaurant the other day, thought I would try it at home. If it doens't work then it is mixed veggies for us....I sooo suck at cooking.
Later my fine mummies. I just thought, Jessica and Lisa, I would love to see your pics...hint hint!!

naomi-really quick.  I made asparagus and it turned out well like this:

spray Pam or other non-stick spray on a cookie sheet.  Set oven to broil.

spray pam or olive oil over asparagus spears spread out on sheet, sprinkle with salt and pepper and broil about 5 minutes, turning half way through.  they turn out just crunchy enough  YUM.

Lisa - SIDS risk decreases after 6 months and is pretty much gone by a year according to what I've r ead.

Hannah - I've foung that when I put Katie in bed with us in the morning, she sleeps WAY longer.  Once until 9:45!  Hard to not turn that into a habit.  Does throw the whole day off though.

Hayley - Hope Daniel feels better.  We've got a cold here too.

Hi Girls.

Killer day yesterday.  We went to get christmas pics taken with my 2 nephews (18 and 20 months) and then went to bro and SIL for dinner with the whole family and it was nuts!  2 boy toddlers running amuck screaming at the top of their lungs!
Taylor took it all in stride though even after taking 2 45 min. naps!   she hasn't taken 2 of them in months so I think it is time for a change in her routine   :?:
Anyhow, eventhough she was an angel all day, we paid for it last night in MULTIPLE wakings (lost count at 10).  So the stimulation combined with the runny nose cold/teething thing (wish I knew which one it was???), she was a mess!  and so am I.  Anyhow, nuff of that.  Today was our last day of Baby Dance class and got a phone list together with some other potential mommy friends so I can get some non-virtual friends!  Not like you are all not enough

Naomi-GOOD LUCK my dear friend at your first week.  You will do great and will probably really enjoy it.

Jody-have fun at the BW meet up

Someone else was asking about defrosted BM and YES, it does smell different!  How weird you say that because I was just thinking the same thing yesterday and in fact threw a bag away because it didn't quite smell right eventhough only 2 months old.

Traci-I am reading a book recommended here on this site called Baby Talk which teaches yuo about babies communication and how to make the most out of teaching them comm. skills.  And not to break your heart but mamamama is one of the first strings of constanants they learn to say.  soon he will be saying the harsher ones like babababab or dadadada.  it is them practicing, so eventhough he may not be directing it at you, he is doing something quite valuable :)

what else my friends?  hummmm....can't quite remember what else so will say ttfnmfl!

Hannah-so is Friday night the new chat night?

Hello everyone!  We've been out at the mall all day and there is lots here to catch up on!!  Carter routinely says dadadadada and DH is sure that he knows what it means (ya right!).  The only time he says anything that resembles mama is when he is full out crying and then it is more blubbery like mmmmaaaaammmmaaaaaa   :(   Oh well, we all know who he loves more!!!

My sympathy goes out to all of those who have sickies at home.  Carter had a stuffed up/snotty/runny nose for over 2 weeks!!  During that time he had night wakings, short naps, and was grumpy ALL day.  Luckily he maintained his appetite the whole time.  I just kept giving him tylenol, we put the vaporizer in his room and we elevated his mattress.  Thankfully when it was all said and done he went right back to his regular routine (except for some short naps  )

Holly:  Do you find yourself getting drawn to the NASCAR races.  DH says he will make a fan out of me yet!! It was pretty exciting though because DH's company placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th out of only 5 drivers!!!

Anyway, DH is on his way home so I'd better start dinner.  Making beef and broccoli stir fry tonight so I hope it turns out ok!!

Oh ya, Fri pm is ok with me for the chat (even though I was only there once it was fun)

Friday night chat/ Saturday would be fab!! TRACI, what does 9 pm est make it for us Kiwis? I have lost that link on time around the world you sent..
Oh I almost forgot, we have a tooth!! I did not even notice he was teething.   :D  Tooth number 2 looks like it is on its way.
Kate, Ryan's leap pad ball looks great but I have never seen it sold here. What is it called again? Must look for it. Anyhow, bought Sam the fridge magnetic farm for Christmas.
Hooray for Cole taking 3 oz via bottle.
Naomi, I do asparagus just like Traci does but I skewer them so it makes turning them easier..like a kebab KWIM? Oh and good luck at work this next week!! Post a pic in your new do and garb.
OMG Andrea, forgot till just now, BLACK baby clothes....awesome idea!! Just saying the other day how difficult it is to get black clothes for babes. My favourite colour(non-colour???) is black and if it was up to me, Sam would be dressed entirely in black.
Hayley, when you are up here in Auckland, we should try and catch up. Text me if you get a chance while you are here. Where does your mum live? Did I give you my mobile number? I will PM you it.
Hooray Holly! The man under the tree is Rip Van Winkle...I think.
Just to say, what great sleepers we have despite the occasional glitch..a girlfriend of mine has 3 los. The los, her and dh sleep in the same room. She is on the floor with her 1 year old (feeding 3-4 times a night still!), the 2 older girls on the bed and dh on a futon!!  Thought I would share that so we know we are not doing badly at all.

also, Cole is for sure getting a pair of these for christmas.  Not necessarily the Cdn. flag pair, but I think they are awesome.  I was wondering how to keep his feet warm in the carrier.

is it okay to post links to stuff here?  hope it is....

Hi, thanks Karen, got your mobile. I'll call you.

Traci - yay for Cole, he's doing much better than Daniel ever did. Well done Traci.

I'm fine for the chat on Friday 9pm EST. In NZ it's 3pm Saturday. I may not always be available, but I'll try.

I took Daniel to the doc to make sure he didn't have an ear infection from his swimming. I wouldn't have worried so soon, but as we're flying on Friday I wanted to know now if there was any potential problems. He's fine, just a little red, hopefully the Ibuprofen the Dr's given us will help.

Oh and remember when we were talking about things that make our LO's laugh... well I've discovered a new game. The medicine dropper I use has quite a wide hole at the bottom and when I gave him some medicine yesterday I accidently 'sucked' it on his tongue. You know, squeeze the end as if to release the medicine, then it automatically causes a suction back. WELL, Daniel thought this was fabulous. I did it again today and he was in hysterics. Makes giving medicine fun for him. I thought I better check it on my tongue to make sure it wasn't too strong, but it's fine, just a like a little tickle really. Very funny.

Better go, laundry to be done.

Hey Traci... those little booties are cool. They are in a store here locally... apparently they are based out of West Vancouver. Very cute!

We bought Arwyn a pair of Robeez booties. They are just adorable on her little feet! Robeez is based out of Burnaby.

Good thing I love shoes with all these baby shoe places based out of here ;)
