jeez louise guys!  Well I too have posted 9 times today Traci, but all in the nap forum!  Does that count?

Who asked about music?  We play Jack Johnson to Taylor alll the time and she loves it (you too Richelle huh?)  Actually we are HUGE jj fans and that was taylor's first concert!  I was about 13 weeks pregnant when we went AND, we named her Taylor after one of his songs.  Crazy nuts huh?    For anyone who hasn't heard of him it is really mellow surfer/Hawaiin type music LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Also, we play the Martha Stewart lullaby cd which is GREAT!  it has an awesome rendition of Close to You by the Bare Naked Ladies.

We too have the Britax Marathon but need to buy a 2nd one because DH is tired of switching back and forth...I am debating about spending the cash on a 2nd Marathon or getting a Cosco brand which seem nice as well.

Judy-sorry about the bitten nipple.  ouch!

Traci-love the nursery---you did a great job!  Taylor's is what we call the "sophisticated nursery"-OK, Candace Olsen actually called it that beccause we stole the idea from her!  it is yellow with white and black toile and accents of white/black and yellow/white gingham.  Decked out with a chandelier and all!!!  For those of you in Canada do you know Candace Olsen?  I love her!!!

Nicki-gosh I guess I shouldn't be gossiping!   see how rumors get started!

Don't really want to relive last night and our attempt to drop the dream feed, so will just move on!

Love the pics Micky and Richelle and Hayley.  I showed DH the picture of your handmade toy and he started cracking up!

BTW, l was an account manager for a clothing company in my prior life.  Now I am Founder/President of a baby clothing company!   always wanted to be a president of something!

allright girls, getting carpel tunnel from typing too much.  good night everyone!

Holy smokes, ladies... have a bad day with short naps, dash out to yoga and this is what I come back to!!  :D

Anyhow... carseats... I know that BCAA and ICBC (the provincial car insurance company) have a carseat inspection service. If anybody is nervous about the installation of theirs, you could look into something like it where you live? Ours is a Graco something or another. It is not the top of the line nor the cheapest. We bought it before Arwyn was born, thinking we would use it from the get go. NOT! The thing is huge and we got some advice from our friends that it would be hard to move a sleeping infant... so, we purchased an infant seat.

Poor Arwyn... no solids today except for breakfast. We went swimming and she was asleep for lunch... and then we went out to get Christmas portraits done and she was a MESS when we got home so, straight to bed. This is our second day of no solids after breakfast. I am such a bad mommy.

Alright... going to bed. Bracing myself for some pu/pd tonight! See you guys tomorrow.

Oh... before I forget. Micky, love the picture and the cute visor on Jackson! Traci... beautiful nursery!!! Andrea... yours sounds beautiful too! Poor Arwyn, she got some Wal-Mart Winnie the Pooh stickers  .

Good Morning

Traci - One of the only 'words' I have had with MIL was about the carseat straps.  Sophie hated her carseat for the 1st 4 months and MIL said once her straps were too tight and that I was making her cry!  I snapped I would rather her be uncomfortable than through the windshield!  Yikes, those hormones!!  Also when Cole starting crawling did know he was going to right away or did it just happen all of a sudden?  I feel like Sophie is going to any second, well as soon as she figures out the legs which I fear won;t take long - she already shimmies and rolls to get places but I am paranoid everytime I leave the room.

Hope you had a good night Ankie, Holly Traci and Judy.  Are those girls still superstar sleepers?

Holly - I have given Sophie some roast chicken as a start, then I tried a few of the gerber meals with meat and she seems to like them.  We tried a scrambled egg yolk yesterday but it didn;t go over very well, the texture maybe.  I will try it again in a few weeks.

I am getting truly stressed now that the end of month is coming.  I have 2 weeks and one restaurant left to wrap up - the biggest hardest, most hectic one.  It does on average 1000 covers (cruise shippers) for lunch between 11AM and 3PM!!  Talk about hustle bustle, for example there are 8 ships in port tomorrow with about 3000 passengers each aboard, I have a headache already.  I am trying to organize the house for packing and moving on the day that I leave for Canada, which I have nothing warm for Sophie to wear and worry how she is going to react...oh oh and of course the IL's are coming to visit (staying here) at the end of the month as well.  I know I am rambling and I never used to get stressed out like this but I honestly am giving myself a rash....sigh....at least I cleaned the house right?

Phew..maybe I should get of the computer and go get some stuff done before work...LOL!

i will post about our night later. I'll keep you all in suspense

Richelle-two things for you.  First-Cole would get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth.  To be honest I don't quite remember exactly how it happened   I have the worst memory, this is why I log absolutely everything!  The first time she actually crawls she likely won't go too far so don't worry too much.  maybe take any plants and other more dangerous stuff out of the room now.  You'll have to very soon anyway.  Second-what size is Sophie?  Please let me know. Give me her size and maybe her length.  I will go to the second hand store here for you and pick up just a couple of things for you to make it to Saskatchewan.  Was it Sask?  Alberta?  I don't remember, sorry.  When you know your hotel let me know and I can drop them off ahead of time.  I am still hoping to meet you but given it will be midweek and Cole is still not taking a bottle I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to

gotta go shower. DH kept Cole up too long and I didn't carry him around for much of a wind down so i'm expecting a 45 min. nap.

Hey, girls!  We are doing well over here.  I was afraid that Ryan had ringworm...round, reddish spots on his neck and back of legs.  Went to the ped. yesterday and it was only ecxema (I know that's spelled wrong!)  Phew!  So, for those of us heading into winter, beware of it...he said to lube Ryan up (well, he didn't put it that way) after bath and in the morning and not to use baby lotion, as it doesn't do much.   :?   Just an FYI

Micky:  I REALLY laughed so hard when I read about Jackson "Pulling a ryan"  My husband had to come check what was so funny and he thought it was hilarious, too.  So honored to be known for something.

For music, we listen to NPR in the car.      We also have a great Jerry Garcia/David Grisman CD and a few Baby Einsteins.  Our favorite kids CD is by Hap Palmer (I think that's his name).  It is so fun!!!  He does the classics, but with a twist.  Our favorite is "The Elephant" (which isn't a classic, but still) and, at first, it goes really slowly like an elephant and Ryan and I stomp around then when the elephant has to go fast to scare away the mean hunter the music gets really fast and we do this fun polka around the room and he laughs and laughs.  Too much fun!  I'll check out the name of the CD...I think it's going to be my new baby shower gift...along with a copy of BW, of course!

In my former life, I was a 2nd grade teacher and now I am the Assistant Director at my mil's preschool...really I just do whatever she wants and make sure no one runs away.  It's actually a pretty cool school and I designed a very basic website for her.  If you're extremely bored, you can check it out at:  http://www.applehillacademy.com

Hope all the kiddies did well with sleeping!  Talk to you soon!

Kate-plesae find out the name of the CD and let us know; it sounds cute.

Richelle-gosh hon, sorry you are so stressed out.  I hope you make it through the next couple of weeks and come here to vent all you want.  BTW, what do you do?  It sounds interesting.

Traci-let us know about Cole's night ASAP!

last night we tried to drop the df (I know we said we were going to wait until the weekend, but oh well).  She didn't do her usuall waking at 10ish yeah! :D   but then she woke at 12:10 right as I had gotten into bed   she did this HORRIBLE screaming like she was possessed and did PU/PD for about 10 minutes and no feed.
She woke again at 4ish and DH went in but didn't have to do PU/PD; she was doing a lot of mantra crying.  she settled back down after about 5 minutes.
woke at 6:48 am so I fed and was prepared to start the day, but she fell fast asleep and I had to wake at 7:30.
:?: Do any of your other lo's seem to want to sleep past 7:30?  I feel so bad going into wake her, but if I don't she doesn't ever take a good first nap.

:?: Also, do any of your other Lo's strain a lot when going poop?  It seems that even when she is not constipated she is pushing and straining so hard I think she is going to pass out!  ever since solids it has been that way.

TTFN!

BTW, Naomi, what does RFLMAO (or whatever it is) mean????

ROFLMAO, is rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.
Andrea- Riley has begun to strain when she poops, I guess it takes a lot of concentration for her
Also I let Riley wake up on her own, she is no later than 8am in waking.
Oh yes, my life b4 riley, I worked at tim horton's doing the back shift. timmy's is a donut and coffee shop in canada, it sucked so bad working 11pm to 7am and having Jayson, I missed out on so much.
Oh well at least I know that will not happen with Riley.

Any of you know the chorus to camp songs that go... "First verse, same as the first, a little bit louder and a little bit worse!"?? From 3 am onwards, that sums up our night.

3 am waking... back to sleep in 35 min.
4:24 waking... louder screams, back to sleep in 8 min.
5:01 waking... louder screams, back to sleep in 14 min. (bless DH's heart for taking this shift)
5:45 waking... lots of shifting and snuffling sounds... went in to settle her.
6:00 waking... DH gets her, changes her diaper and tries to put her back down
6:30... mommy gives up that DH will be successful and we are up for the day.

SO, at least she didn't get fed from 6 pm to midnight! I dropped her dream feed (waking her to feed) and decided only to feed if she woke up. All the other times were pu/pd. Phew... we are now into minute 56 of the morning nap!!! (Am I neurotic or what? still counting the minutes after all these months!)

Music... I listened to classical music while pregnant. (Don't look at me funny, I actually did before I was preggo too!) Anyway, if Arwyn is fussy in the car, we can tune it to CBC 2 and she calms right down. If that doesn't work, we turn on her Baby Einstein CD. Otherwise, we listen to our radio station. It is so funny because she lets us know when she wants her music... she will make this funny noise, like a cross between a bark and a quack... if we change the station, it stops. If we don't she continues until we do! Demanding child I have  .

Richelle... take it easy... once you get to Saskatchewan, you'll be home and maybe you'll get a break because your mom will be a "baby hog". And I love the way you cleaned the house yesterday, popping on and off the forum... it's kinda like cleaning with your friends over, isn't it?

Phantom baby... ALL the time!! Especially if I don't have the monitor right in front of me, on full blast!

Hannah... I forgot to comment about this a long time ago. About wiping the face after eating... yes, a warm facecloth heading towards Arwyn's face is grounds for squirming, whining, arm flapping and eventually, screaming. Apparently, she thinks it is a form of torture!

Baby up! Gotta run.

Kate,
prety sure we have a spot of excezma, yeah can't spell that one either, on Sophie too.
Did your ped recommend a certain type of lotion? ALso, I've heard that timing is really important.  make sure you lube him up :) right after bath, like while he's still moist :)

Andrea..et al, we are Jack lovers here too.  Actually, we must have seen him on the same tour because he was Sophie's first concert too (in utero).  He's brendan's favorite too.
Just got a mag in the mail yesterday called music for little people.  Dh adn I are so excited to stock up on some fun kid/adult cd's.  The website is mflp.com....

Now be careful not to type in milf.com  you never know what might pop up :)

Ankie, your lo sure is giving it her all isn't she?  Hugs to you. And yes I know the campsong...good description.

Sophie strains all the time with poop, in fact sometime she's like an all day pooper...she just poops a little and I change her then she poops a little more and I change her and on and on...she rarely pulls a Ryan any more :)  That is too funny LOL.

Cute picture Micky...I have No idea why but I pitured you very differently.
Cute idea about the books for twins...very cute.

OK, I was and will VERY son be again a 4th grade teacher.  I go back Dec. 8th.  My sahm days are numbered
 :(

I have a question, what do you all feel comfortable cleaning with now that you have lo's around?
I finally cleaned sinks this morning with comet but find it to be really fume-y.  It's just yucky...but I've tried other more friendly cleaners and they just don't do the job as well.  Any ideas?

Have a great day.  I am off for a run and then to the mall. Yay!!! Except our mall is sooooo lame.  But I guess it's better than nothing.

Had a ton of fun at IL's last night. Sophie was a total hoot.  They ahve all these really annoying doll things that sing songs etc. when you press their hands (KWIM??) anyhow, I hate them but Sophie of course loves them.  They have this teddy bear guy thing that sings When I'm 64...She lays on her stomach and "sings" and taps her feet and watches this guy.  MIL and FIL were getting such a kick out of her.  It's fun to watch them adore her so much.   Oh yeah and the clapping thing..she cannot stop clapping.  It's hysterical.  She just wants to clap all day long:)  Crawling is going to be a bear!!!

Me again...with more burning questions for you ladies.

How much do you care of your child has a clean face/nose/clothes etc.?  Are you willing to put your lo to nap with traces of lunch still smeared on their face?  If you know they have a huge booger that's got to making it somewhat difficult to breathe, do you go after it? At what cost?

I feel like I am abusing my child every time I go to wipe her face...

I realize this is kinda silly, but I thought I'd see what your thoughts are.

Ok I am answering all the questions

tell me if miss any

crying?? - I hear dd crying everytime I am in the shower- but she is always with dh and I say 'What was she crying for" and he said "she wasn't"

old job?? - I monitered apprentices and trainees at their worksites blah blah blah fairly boring

cleaning stuff?? - I use Vanilla Fridge Wipe now as it is safe for food surfaces and smells good great for the high chair which i hate cleaning :x

music?? - dd listens to my music in the car - The Tea Party mainly because I LOVE THEM. At home she has a dvd called Baby Bright but it's more like numbers, colours. shapes etc not really music.

dirty face etc?? I used to worry about dirty clothes but not anymore. She hates having her face cleaned so sometimes I don't get all of it off. She gets a good scrub down at bath time before bed.

was that all the questions???

oh yeah nearly forgot - she pulls all sorts of faces and strains when doing a poo - kind of looks like this  been the same since starting solids

Hannah, I am really bad about wiping faces after eating!   I don't bother changing her clothes if dirty with food unless we've got a special visit somewhere - if I'm just popping down to the shops or my parents or good friends I don't bother.

LOL at milf.com (just had to do it to check!)

In my former life I was a Project Administrator/Coordinator - worked in HR and the energy industry.  I'm now studying towards a diploma in Editing and Proofreading so I can freelance from home while home with the kids.  Hope to be completed in about 6mths.

Judy, did you ever figure out what the problem with Hannah (or was it Kaia) and her pooping?

hi girls!

I just wrote a long post then my darn internet went down and lost the whole thing!

Jody: Let me know next time you go to the mall.  I'd love to come and join you for exercise/adult interaction!! :D

We went to Jackson's music class today.  We've been going for about 2 months now.  It is all different ages of babes from newborn to 9 months.  It is mostly just singing to them and tapping the beat or bouncing them to the beat.  It is supposed to teach them to be able to hear the beat in music.

As far as music goes--we too are listeners to Jack Johnson---I love him!!  We also listen to a CD that came with Jackson's music class--Music Together.  Music together is a program and I believe they have a bunch of different CD's.

Pooping-yes Jack changes colors, veins buldge, and he grunts.  It varies in severity depending on whether or not he is constipated!

Cleaning stuff--who cleans??!!??
