Karen-Love the idea of the scarfs in the kleenex box- I will try it!

Micky- Hello from Edmonton!! I always hit WEM for a walk indoors now that there is snow on the ground... If you want, next time I go I will let you know???

Babes are up, gotta get them their solids... Im doing bedtime/bathtime duties on my own tonight dh working a nightshift... yuk

Richelle,

Strollercize is an excercize class for moms! It's held in a gym at the YMCA... 2X a week for an hour you run with the stroller, do cardio, squats, kicks, work your abs, butt, thighs, EVERYTHING! you leave their and you are sweating like a PIG ! I love it!
I go with a friend of mind and we both have 4 lbs to lose so we are working to get it off before Christmas... the woman who instructs the class has an 8 month old dd also so she shows you how to work out with your lo's in your arms too! The babes love it because there are about 30 moms running around to techno music and there is a lot going on for them to see.... I can't say enough good things about it!!

Sorry so long!

Great photo Micky, and I love the sunvisor.

While we're talking about carseats, I can't recall what ours is but it's one of the more popular ones here. Cost around $300 I think. It's rear facing.. anyway, the way it's strapped in you have to tighten the strap manually each time. It's got a strap around the base which is plugged in all the time, but the one that holds it in place at the top has a release on it so you can get the baby in and out. Sorry I'm not making much sense. I thought it was really unstable and had it checked by someone at the shop, and they said it was fine. I'm just looking forward to Daniel being a year old so we can swap it round to a more stable feeling position.

I've been getting more adventurous with Daniel's meals. I did up a meal plan, but haven't even looked at it!  Waste of time that was. But it motivated me to explore some ideas. So today he had apple and banana for breakfast. He's had b before, but didn't like it that much, was better today. Then for lunch he had kumara and cottage cheese. Mmmmmm managed nearly 2 oz which is good for him. Seemed to really like it. He takes ages to eat though, about 25 mins. Mind you, that included me talking on the phone and feeding him too! Also, gave him a cruskit to suck on. Seemed to like that too. So we're definitely getting there.

Well, need to go hang out his washing and finish tidying up then my housework is complete. Yay!

Whoa ... I haven't been here since lunch time and there are already 4 more pages to catch up on!!!

Traci:  I LOVE the nursery!  It must have taken you forever to do!  We had a lot of work to do on ours because when we moved in it was all purple/butterflies/clouds and we were having a boy!!!  We ended up putting up paintable wallpaper and wainscotting and going with an animal theme (DH wanted cars because he is an automotive engineer but I won with the animals as I am a veterinary technician and animals are less gender biased than cars!!)

Karen:  Carter just got teeth about a month ago (bottom 2).  I have a feeling more are coming soon though as he has been out of sorts.  My friend's son didn't get any until he was 10months old!!

Erin:  When we need Carter to go to sleep we listen to Sheryl Crow "The First Cut" or the song she did with Kid Rock.  I don't know why he likes those songs so much but it ALWAYS calms him down even if he is screaming his head off    When we go out and leave him with friends we always leave the CD as well!!!  I listened to that CD on my way to work while preggo so maybe that's why he likes it!  Other than that he listens to whatever .. he doesn't seem to particularly like kids music.  He better like Xmas carols though because I am addicted!

Traci:  I know what you mean about hearing the baby when there is no baby around.  In the middle of the night I will wake out of a sound sleep thinking I have heard Carter crying!

Micky:  Love the cookie monster sunvisor!  Sooo cute!!!

I had to go to my work today to pay a vet bill (my cat has been sick lately, he's a himalayan/persian and they have horrible immune systems  :( )  and I got to thinking as I watched my co-workers rush around "I wonder what all the other SAHM's used to do before our lo's were born??  and do they wish they could do that instead of raising children?"  I mean, I used to get up, go to work until 6:00pm, come home make dinner, clean up, hang out with DH for a bit and then it was bed time.  Now my days are sooo much more busy, but in a different way.  It's more hectic at home but sooo worth it too!!  I am not looking forward to going back in Feb, even though I love my job!!  I will miss Carter too much  :(

Sooooo, I guess what I am asking is what were all you Super Moms before babies came along???  I am sure that we will have an assortment of professions!!!

Oops I hear crying ... bottle must be done so bf time then bed for the little man.  I hope everyone has a wonderful night!!!

Micky LOVE the picture!!  You have beautiful teeth!!! :)

Bec I feed the girls at or after 6am and if they happen to wake prior to that I stick with pu/pd.  The other day after a late night Hannah woke at 5.45am and I didn't feel it worth the struggle for 15min... kind of a judgement call there.  As for the 6am ish feeding... I always attempt to put them back to bed after this feed... sometimes they fall back to sleep and other times they don't.

Traci ok - now to remember what my carseat comments were... hmmmmmmmmmmm.... never had our carseat checked out by the fire department but between dh & I those carseats are very secure.  I was really frustrated when we bought our Caravan (I'm a foreign vehicle owner myself) to find out that while it seats 7 the very back seat is not carseat ready.  I called the salesguy and gave him a little 'whatfor'.  I mean really - for the 30cents it would have cost Chrysler/Dodge to install the tether hooks  .  He kept calling me back with suggestions - I finally told him that dh was a mechanical engineer - securing the carseats was not an issue - my point was did Dodge really think it that ODD that people might have more than 2 children?  Being pregnant with twins with two toddlers running around I didn't bother to go look at vans with dh and he, being the slow consumer that he is, didn't purchase a van until the last couple weeks of my pregnancy.  There's very little I like about the Caravan to be honest.  Anyway, dh has the carseats tethered right to the vehicle where the van seats themselves are installed - so unless those van seats give way - the carseats are going nowhere.

Traci - also good point on how tightly a child should be strapped into their seats... most people I know leave the straps so loose it amazes me - I mean their child could literally fly right through them.  I think that's why the babies have taken so long to take to their seats because they're in so freakin' tightly!! :)

So, it's Tuesday and Kaia and Hannah actually ate today.  A reasonable (for them) amount of cereal, Kaia had a few bites of squash or was that Hannah - gosh hmm... yup it was Kaia who also had a some applesauce.  Hannah - nope!!  Just cereal.  First time they've been willing to eat since last Tuesday - wonder if it's a Tuesday thing ;)  And yet I offer food 3times a day every day...  *sigh*  Hannah!!  That little tart ;) bit down on my nipple today and *wouldn't let go*!!!  I was trying to be really calm and ask her nicely to stop biting mommy but holy cats that's a sharp pain.  AND Kaia took a bite out of dh's earlobe tonight which pleased me only so that I could get a bit more understanding for the nipple nawing.

LMAO (sorry Judy) with Kaia biting DH's ear.  Danielle's taken to clamping down lately too - fortunately no teeth!

I also have my kids seatbelt straps really tight across their chests and amazed at the people who don't!

Hayley, our big carseat (which I'm yet to fit for Danielle) seems to move sideways at the base quite a bit even with the metal clasp thing that holds the lap bit firm, but with the tether I know that seat's not going anywhere!

I don't play kids music here either, the radio's on all day though since I don't have any daytime telly on until the end of the day when it's a nursery rhyme/baby einstein DVD.

Jo, I've passed your comment on to Teddy, and she sends you a big thank you for your kind words.

My girls play kids music all the time.  In fact I gave up the idea of listening to the radio b/c as soon as I turn it on they switch it to CD mode and pop in their music.  They love it - they run and dance quite often to it.  Then again, they stand at the player and fight over who's turn it is to pick a song.  It's a wonder any of their cd's even work anymore the way they get tossed around and walked on. :)

I rarely play children's music in the house when Zoe was this age though.  In the car we listened to it all the time - it was the only way to keep her happy.  And in fact now it's either their songs or their Baby Einst. DVD in the van - I don't get to listen to my radio unless they're asleep.  In their defence though I like talk radio (CBC Traci!! :)) which is pretty dull I'm sure.

My goodness you ladies have been busy, I need to get all caught up on whats been going on. I was on this morning....but....apparently while I was trying to nap, you have been typing away. So I'll go get caught up soon.  My MIL came over this afternoon and allowed me to get some much needed sleep.  Brady slept for 1.5 hours this am and 1.0 hour this pm...Yah!!!!, went down tonight at 7:30, but took till 8:30 to get him to sleep.  So here's hoping for a better night.  I've spent some time with dh this evening so I haven't been online much.  I'm off for now to finish our show together, and then I'll get caught up and be back on later or tomorrow morning...Have a good night ladies...

okay, this is my 9th post today LOL.  yes- I went back and counted :D

Holly-what time does Brady's catnap end?  I'm just curious.  Is he hard to settle every night or only every now and again?  I wonder if the catnap is running too late or if he's getting too much day sleep.  Is it only nighttime when you're having trouble with settling?  I think you said it took an hour last night too....hmmmm, just trying to think of things that may cause it.
We can always chat about it thursday when we meet.

good night and good day everyone.  I'm heading out to buy milk in a jug tomorrow to make a great toy

Hi Traci

I'd like to say that having a hard time putting Brady down at night is off and on, some days only, but as of late it seems to be every night, maybe his naps are too long. I know I have been trying to deal with that lately, but I though his naps today were good.  But he didn't go down for a cat nap as the went down for his afternoon nap at around 3:30pm, up at 4:30 so I didnt' do a cat nap.  maybe I should have, I dont know. He seems easier to put down for naps then at bedtime. :?   yes maybe we can talk more on Thursday as well.   :)

Quick question for anyone out there, Brady is 7.5 months +, and he has yet to try meat.  I have bought some organic baby food meat to try, but not sure when I should start this, does anyone know at what month they should be trying meat?  Just wondering.

Thank you all for your carseat comments (and keep 'em coming) - and Traci, you are SO right about the installation....and about the tightness of the straps.  I always check the straps after putting Katie in (sometimes I have to loosen them to get her in b/c of a coat or whatever) and I'm amazed at people who don't.

Micky - I have read that the teething/diarhea (never can spell that word) connection has to do with the fact that they're swallowing excess saliva from all the drooling they do when teeth are coming in, so yes, it can be a symptom.

For whoever was asking (Carter's mom perhaps?), in my former life I was (and still am!) a special ed teacher - I was working with 8th graders before I went on maternity leave.  Now I am working part time with college students with learning disabilities and training adults in teaching dyslexic people to read.

Ugh, past my bedtime.  Night all!

Micky- my girls poop non-stop when the teeth are coming in! I can always tell when another tooth is coming through (5 each now!) because they will wake from a nap with a yukky butt.

Cathy- In the "old days" ( which I may go back to in a few months  ) I was a Personal Financial Officer
(mortgages/investment/accounts pretty boring math type stuff- loved it!)
I am really looking to start something from my house soon though- needing ideas  !!

I would love to write a childrens books for twins- Judy what do you think?

Holly-
as for the meat question- I have given the girls the heinz beef/veggies, chicken/veggies, turkey/veggies, but never the "strained" heinz meet- it looks awful doesn't it? The girls LOVE the beef and veggies, but gag ( and I'm talking first bite- every time they taste it!) on the turkey and chicken food! I don't know why but they do!
