I keep forgetting to say WELCOME, Nome and Beata, so WELCOME!!

Bec - Sophie did this at the breast starting around 3.5 months.  I tried pumping to up supply, different foods ect...and at about 4 months i packed it in.  The ped. said it was probably a case of teeth, she did get a tooth soon after and she also said impatience due to hungriness/growth spurt.  She did take a bottle though but by this time was used to it as I pumped ect...HTH

Traci - When MIL came to stay and visit with us and be all proud of her boy as a papa, they were giving her her evening bath when Sophie decided to christen Nana in the tub.  As we were trying to empty the bath ect Sophie weed all over daddy!!  What a mess but still very funny to this day! LOL about fishing them out with a net!!!

Must run I am at work (of course!)

Thanks for the tips on the babysitter-I need to suck it up.
Bec-Ben has had similiar situations when he is overtired
(right before bedtime), overstimulated or after I have excercised. HTH
Richelle-The people who are talking must have never stayed home with a LO.  You are doing an extremely important job at home.  AND if you really miss it you can always go back it seems like you will be greatly missed.
Traci-Ben doesn't have a lovey but I also haven't tried to give him one.  I would love for him to have one.  He does have 3 bears in the crib so maybe he cuddles with them when I am not looking.  He is eating 5TBS of cereal not including BM and 5TBS of fruit/veggies.  i am going to increase it tomorrow.
Hannah-Ben was given a prescription for the flouride as well.  I asked the doctor why he was getting the prescription and he explained in a very sarcastic tone that only the malnurished babies need it!!!  I am supposed to give it to him first thing in the morning but often forget.
Nomi-I have been on the "mini"pill for 5 months, have soley breast fed and haven't had a period yet.  I have been taking test every month just to make sure I don't have a surprise on the way.
Have a great weekend and hope to talk with you at the chat.

Hi Ladies - wow you gals have been busy/chatty! I can't even remember where I left off.

bec refusal to bf - could very well be teeth.  I remember my older girls being very fussy about sucking when teething.  Zoe was 9months   when she cut her first tooth so already on bottles by then and if the temp wasn't JUST right she'd refuse the bottle completely and even with a good temp she wouldn't always drink much.

Nome hmmm, have you been feeling broody all along or is this a recent thing?  I ask because I am over the top broody while ovulating.  My periods never returned though until about a couple weeks after I completely weaned my older girls.  That said I've had friends who've started their periods just a few short months after birth -while exclusively bf'ng.

As for solids -   I was so pleased today because the girls actually ate all but a spoonful of 2tbsp of cereal.  That's 2 tbsp BETWEEN them!!    These girls are boob addicted and afraid to be sucked in to the world of real food!! :)  Kaia ate probably 3/4 of what they consumed.  Most meal feedings end in lots and lots of tears.  They don't just happily turn away - they just start to cry :(   It's been a really slow process but I'm thrilled they consumed a reasonable amount today. :)  I usually don't measure their food at all - but started yesterday just so I could gauge what the were actually eating.  As for veg... haven't even gotten one icecube of veg consumed between the two yet.

Hey girls,  Thanks soo much for all the kind words.  It really does help. :D  I think we are over the hump here. Claire is still making "grunting sounds", but   I pretty sure we cleaned her out good.  I guess we'll see.

Beata - Thanks for the advice about the prunes.  Slow and steady. :)

Traci - About the belly.  Me too    I'm wondering though if it doesn't have something to do with our los eating solids and decreasing the amount of breastmilk they are taking???  Maybe we aren't burning as many calories any more.  I don't know, just an idea.  I definately need to lay off the chocolate.  But it tastes sooooooo good.

Micky - Sorry to hear about DH's shingles.  A woman I know had it and she said it was very painful.  Hope he's doing OK.

Nome -  I'm still fully breastfeeding (more than I'd like at night),but it doesn't seem as though she's as interested  since starting solids.  I guess she's interested in latching on and being close, but she really doesn't take that much.  I don't think anyway.  Maybe she's just really fast now. Have been thinking about going to just a morning and  night feed and I guess an over the night feed, but not sure how I feel about it yet.   :?

Hannah - Claire's ped prescribed flouride also, but she said just to use it until Claire gets used to the sippy cup, then she will get her flouride through the water. :?:

Richelle - Re:  staying home.  People really don't know how insensitive they sound sometimes.  If its what you want to do, then go for it.  I haven't regretted a minute of staying home with Claire.  I do crave some adult contact sometimes, but you all help with that.

Judy -  LOL on the booby addicts.

Have a great day everyone,  I'm off to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of this grunting business.

Judy, good to see you back!!!  Solids are overrated anyway :)  LOL on the booby addicts.

Jessica, glad to hear all is well with the poops :)

Hey, some time back someone was talking about how hard it is to pat/shh now that mattresses are lowered (for some lo's)...I got a mag in the mail the other day from a company called Design Within Reach. http://www.DWRjax.com  Artists/Architects etc. who have had kids have designed "superior" kid gear.  Anyhow, I just remembered there was a crib in there that was oval shaped and actually had a door on the front of it.  This crib would definately solve the sore arms through the crib slats problem!!

Thanks for the flouride feedback.  When I told dh, he immediately brought out all kinds of info on flouride "the slow poison"  so I had to ask.

I guess that's all for now.  I have been lurking...waiting for more posts. (expecting you all to keep me entertained :)  Things do get a little slower around here on the weekends...all you ladies must have had more exciting Friday nights/Saturday mornings than I...pizza and a movie with dh.

Hey ladies... just lurking lately... no time to actually post as we are a sick bunch over here.

Just a few comments...

Judy... Arwyn is very hit and miss about the solids. Some days are passable and others, it is very clear that she didn't get much at all. I was told to just keep offering it and they will eventually take it. :) on the booby addicts!

Hannah... LOL I know the song. We've lived the life too... our Cat is back! We shared the same Friday night/Saturday morning! Pizza and a movie... Sahara.

Micky... thinking about you here. I hope Jackson's surgery goes well. :( about DH bringing home the chicken pox virus. How is he doing? I understand that shingles is very painful.

To all the mommies of constipated LOs... I am glad some of the remedies suggested here are working. We haven't needed to go there yet but I am sure glad I know where to come for some advice!

Nome... were you asking about length of time spent nursing? Arwyn has become a super efficient nurser. She only needs 7-10 minutes now and she has to be VERY hungry. The only nursing session that is longer is the one right before bed.

Richelle... another person on this forum has this saying attached to her signature..."You can always go back to work, but you can't go back to having a baby." I take it to mean that the time is now, to spend time with your little one. Congratulations on your decision to stay home. If we could afford it, that would be the route DH and I would take. Unfortunately, we can't at this time but I am still hopeful that one day we can.

Karen... I am glad to hear that BF twice a day is going well for you. I hope to do this too... I know Arwyn will be a different baby when I go back to work but I really want to continue to BF.

Have a great weekend everyone! See you at the chat on Sunday!

Hannah-Ben's ped. is super silly and knows i worry a bit.  I was nervous when he prescribed the flouride drops and asked if he prescribes it for all 6 month olds.  He replied in a sarcastic tone that only the malnurished kids get it.  Meaning of course he prescribes it to all babies around this age.
Hamburgers and 1/2 of a movie for a crazy Friday night here!

I don't mean to brag, but we had a rockin' Friday night of scarfing down dinner and then hitting the mall to buy dh some new work shirts so we could get back in time for bath, boob, and bed.  Fun!  (Btw, if you have to do any ironing or, as is my case, running back and forth to the dry cleaners, Brooks Brothers makes these Non-Iron shirts that you whip out of the dryer just before it's done and hang up...done!  No ironing or dry cleaning!!!  A bit more expensive at the outset, but will save us $ in the long run.  Just fyi)
We're still having lots of trouble going down for catnap and bed for the night.  He is SO tired, but won't settle down. Yesterday, at the catnap, I was in tears as I stood by the crib trying to help Ryan calm down.      That hasn't happened in a long time...my tears over his tears, I mean.  After 20 mins, I finally nursed to calm him down and then he went back in the crib and settled himself to sleep.   :?   It made me sad b/c I could have done that at the beginning and saved him the 20 minutes of being upset, but was trying to break the boob habit.  But, didn't have to do it at night...hooray!!!  We kept him up for 2 1/2 hours and fed him RIGHT before popping him in to the crib and he went to sleep with minimal fuss...will try again tonight.  Oh, poop!  I'm actually going out tonight   so will have to see how it goes without the safety net of the old boob magic hangin' around.  I'm sure dh can handle it.
Oh, yeah, just as we were talking about dh's playing videos/watching tv to entertain, this came up this morning.  Ryan was having a blast playing in the empty laundry basket (thought of you, Hayley!).  Dh says, "Oh.  That'll be good tonight for him to sit in while I'm playing video games."      He will actually play with him most of the time, so I guess I'll just enjoy girls night out and pretend it's not happening.
Later, girls!!!

We had a great day yesterday (routine wise) and think I know why...will post later.

Also, we had a friend over for dinner who is currently co-sleeping and wants to continue, but needs to improve naps so she can have a life.  So of course I will be hitting you all up for some advice to give her.

Hello Ladies!
Hope ure all okay, just got back from Guy Fawkes night and thought I'd have a quick look in. The panic is over as far as ovulating goes I have begun my period , part of me is a little sad that I am not pregnant but I am more happy becuse after having been regular for 3months then having nothing for 2months I was worried that I would'nt start ovulating again until I had weaned DS which I am nowhere near ready to do yet!

Judy - I have always been broody since I meet DH when I was seventeen, I thought that when I actually got my baby though the feeling would go away but it hasnt! Also LOL at your boob addict babies, can you blame them?  :)  DS still has all his breastfeeds plus three square meals a day including pudding and his still as skinny as a rake! They all go at thier own pace.

Jessica - I think my DS is somewhat similar to your DD, he only really snacks at the breast and I think he is more reluctant to let go of the comfort he gets from it rather than needing the nutrition. But I love feeding him as I'm comforted too so DS and I make a great pair he'll still be nursing when his three at this rate! Although I think DH is getting fed up of my boobs being a no go area LOL  :P

Micky - Your poor DH I caught shingles whilst working on an elderly ward for my nurses training, it is horrible. I hope he gets better soon!

Taylor's Mommy - I have jsut sopped co-sleeping with DS (when he lets me) any questions send them my way

Going now to watch film and gorge myself on pizza!

P.S could one of you tell me how to post piccy's, I have done it once but know I cant seem to do it, must be doing something wrong but what?!

Hannah- I have to laugh.  Do you feel the same way as I do then...let down when there aren't any new posts?  Seems silly but I'll check my email and if there isn't a notification i'm a little sad and go searching the other forums for something to read.  I should really be doing something around here but I'm addicted

Andrea...very very curious to find out about your routine and what changed.

thanks everyone for posting your food intake.  I was just curious.  Given Cole's intake I was certain he'd start sleeping through but it's still not the case.  It seems I have my baby back though.  In addition to teeth his bad week is due to the time change.  He was really close to moving to 9 and 1pm naps and no catnap.  Now he has reverted back to his old routine.  I guess he'll adjust over a couple of weeks hopefully.

okay, DH is feeding Cole dinner and loving it.  He eats way better at dinner than he does breakfast.  DH usually does breakfast and Cole is just not interested in the morning.  I guess I should go.  Get him ready for bed and whip out the magic boob.

I might be back later for a bit.  Looking forward to chat tomorrow.

How do I join the chat? As I too seem to be addicted to the BW Web site, and all the support, whether directed at me or not! Maybe once dd starts sleeping somewhat decently in the night (I don't have big hopes for through the night for anytime soon!) I'll have to wean myself from BW.com!
