Cathy those photos are just gorgeous.  What a looker, there's gonna be a few broken hearts when he gets older.....

Traci, the 'blue steel' look comment made me laugh. I have never seen Zoolander but all the airforce friends of DH's had. At our wedding they're doing a group photo and someone yells "Blue Steel" and there's this photo of them all doing the look and me looking at DH as if to say "wtf??"

Ohhhh my little bear has just done one of those oh so cute moments. DH has a mini motorbike, I'm talking real mini. My friends 3yr old looks the right size on it. Anyway, he saw DH on it yesterday riding around. Anyway, he's just gone off to work to check out the flying schedule and he rode down the path on it. Daniel could here it go past and he stopped what he was doing. Then I said bye daddy, daddy's just gone to work and he smiled and started waving. Soooo cute! Now he's gone to the kitchen door where he last saw DH walk thru and is sitting waving.

Micky, 15 mins sleep? Crikey girl, how are you feeling??

Traci, it sounds like Cole's naps are all sorted, it won't be long until night time is too. Yay for you and Cole.

We went out for brunch thismorning, I feel like a 'grown up real person' again. I even put some make up on. First time in ages. Now that DH is back at work this week and our coffee group will start up again, at least I'll be out once a week now.

That's about it from me. All is quiet down where Daniel is playing so I better go and see what he's up too!

Judy - interesting about the organic stuff. I should read up more on that. Will keep an eye out for more info from your friend.

Andrea - I too have resigned myself to Molly's short (30-45 minutes) a.m. nap and longer (1-1.5 hour) afternoon nap. She is not a big sleeper either (I remember comparing Taylor and Molly back when they were a few months old!!). I too would rather get a short morning nap, do our running around, visiting, whatever we need to do, then be home in the afternoon for the "good" nap. Most days she can go from about 1:30 or 2 pm until bedtime without the catnap so it works for us.
I totally hear you on the being sooooo tired trying to tweak A time only to be disappointed in the end at the short nap anyways!!

Nikki - just being weaned at 2.5 yrs?? Yikes. Mason was done with the bottle at 8 months. We were just reading his babybook and comparing notes on him and Molly. I remembered that he wasn't all that interested in it when he started eating real food. He had 6 teeth by this time, whereas Molly still has none. Reminds me, haven't tried the toast yet this weekend either. Maybe tomorrow morning.

Traci - sometimes men are so darn inconsiderate aren't they?? It's like they just don't think...I know they do think, they just think differently than women!! Nice of DH to take Cole in the a.m. and let you catch up on some much needed and well deserved sleep though!  Way to go Cole on the sleeping better, keep it up...it's time to give Mommy a break!!

Cathy - love the pics!! He opens presents just like Molly does. Way too much cuteness going on in your house! The bathtime one is so adorable, what a looker! LOL @ his seduction shots - it must be hard to be "sooooooo gooooood looking" - Zoolander again (thanks Traci - am giggling thinking of Ben Stiller in that one!)

Kate - the Meal Makers thing sounds fabulous!! Wonder if we have that in Canada?? Anyone know? I was doing well with the cooking every day, making salad to have in the fridge every couple of days, plus a fresh fruit salad to have on hand but with going back to work it's going to be hard to find the time or energy to do anything!!

Well looks like our Molly is sick again, another ear infection on the way!! She was up every hour last night and then up for the day at 5 am. She slept for a whopping total of 1.25 hours (.5 this morning and .75 this afternoon) and we put her to bed at about 5:15 pm. Took her to the medicentre today and they say no infection yet but will probably rear it's ugly head within 24 hours. Gave me antibiotic prescription to hold in case she is worse tomorrow and then I can get in to see my Doctor early next week. Grrrrrrrrrr. Awaiting an appt. with the specialist for ear tubes. This infection will be 4 since the end of October.     She will have a great immune system by the time she hits a year old!!

Michelle, poor Molly! I had an ear infection once and it was the most painful thing ever! I felt like my head was about to explode! I hope it gets sorted out soon and when does she get grommets?

Kate, Meal Makers sound excellent!

Judy, you really are a geek! I did not understand your e-mail apart from the ands and buts LOL   Interesting about the organic stuff. There is no real evidence from my reading so I do not buy organic but make sure I cook my own food as often as possible. I do buy organic cooked baby food only because it contains no maize thickeners or bulking agents. I have a few jars for emergencies!

Cathy, Carter is gorgeous! The Zoolander reference was so apt and too funny!!!

Hayley, 8 weeks is a long time for dh to be away and you should really be around family and me! Am looking forward to catching up with you and Daniel when you head up this way.

Sam is quite skinny-about 20 pounds but long. Cannot work the conversion into inches, sorry! He is still in some 3-6 months clothes but mostly in 6-9 months.

Andrea, still waiting for you to post that pic...

Naps, I don't wake Sam and we have vary between long am nap and long pm nap. They are usually about 1 hour minimum (doing Kate's antijinx dance).  We do not have timed naps, just go on cues and A time.

Traci, that Cole is just too mobile! Sam is trying to climb but is nowhere near Cole's league. Would love to see a pic.

Ankie, how was your night?

Back to work for me tomorrow. I have just had a week off and am quite looking forward to going back to work. Have a great day/night all and am sending out sleep vibes, get well soon vibes.

Hayley-that is just incredible!  I cannot wait til cole does stuff like that.  I guess he's so focussed on the physical he has no time more mental gymnastics:) Not to mention...I don't really work on hi and bye and stuff that much.  He does a mean "high five" though

Kate-Haven't heard of meal makers but what a GREAT idea.  hmmm, new canadian business idea if there isn't one here...

Michelle-poor little Molly-that is just awful.  Hope you get in to see the specialist soon.

Not sure how to emphasize this so I'll just do this: BREAKTHROUGH

I didn't tell you girls, but last night I left the room to make him cry.  cruel I know but he just kept playing and playing.  Anyway, it broke my heart after 3 minutes, i did PD and he went to sleep.  Tonight I planned bedtime for 7:30.  He just kept playing and playing so I left again and said you can do it, time for sleep while standing outside the door where he could see me...he cried for a minute then started playing.  i went downstairs for a few minutes.  when he realized i wasn't there he started again.  on and off for a few minutes then pretty hard.  i counted SLOWLY to 100.  do you see where I'm going with this  (insert happy dance emoticon) anyway, i just stood outside the door and said you can do it time for sleep a few times.  he calmed in a couple of minutes...started babbling...dadda, nanna, bababababab....and fell asleep WITHOUT ME IN THE ROOM for the first time in about 8 LONG weeks.
 :D  :)   8)  :P

not sure what kind of night we'll have because i think 8 is kind of late but we'll see.  turns out DH isn't reading tonight so we're going to spend some time together. for now though, here is the series of pics i took of cole stealing the ornament yesterday: ( i resized the first two...not sure why it didn't work...sorry)

Holy cow - go Cole on stealing the ornament!!!  :)  And how awesome on the breakthrough Traci!!  Kaia will occasionally let out a big cry as I leave the room. I find if I keep going and just say "time for sleep" she lets out maybe 1 1/2 cries and then stops right away.

Hayley I love that story of Daniel going over to wave bye to daddy - melts the heart!!

Love the pics of Carter - sweet man.  LOVE his hair.

Well - it's 8.38pm and I'm exhausted so, I'm going to bed :)

OK, I'm back, both kids are up from their naps, Nathan's having a snack, DH decided to give him some prunes and didn't really think about the fact they each one was actually equivalent to an actual plum - so he's scoffed 4!  Hopefully it's not too many.

Wow Cole, he's actually UP on the table?

Love the pics of Carter, what a cool look on his face.

Michelle, I think the kids having the bedtime bottles were really just in lieu of a dummy really I suppose.  Nathan had his final bedtime feed when he was 14mths old and self-weaned from breastfeeding.

Hayley, that's so cute of Daniel to wave to DH.

Hey everybody,

No sleep again here for the parents. Arwyn slept though. Not straight through but she slept   in 2 hour-ish lengths of time.

Down at 6:30 and had a few stirrings until about 10:30... all is quiet... I think she may not wake... but she does so at 12:30. Fed because she didn't have a good BF at 6:00... doesn't go back down. DH takes over... get this... I hand her off, he sits down and falls asleep with her until 3 am :?:  :?:  :?: Friggin' hell... we are never gonna get this under control. I feed her again at 3 am and she only sleeps until 5 am. DH puts her back down with no problem and she sleeps until 6:30. It must have been a worse night due to no P.M. nap (well, 20 minutes doesn't count). Yeah... I could probably find a billion reasons why her nights are so screwy... none of them are really a good enough reason for me to keep getting up like this!!! Ladies, I feel like swearing!

Well... today, she was ultra clingy. We think it is teeth. She is trying to bite my cheek, shoulder, chin, fingers, etc. She actually connected and chomped my chin (ouch!) and managed to nip my shoulder too. She had a great BF at 6:30 tonight but wouldn't let me put her down. DH goes in to put her down and she is asleep in a minute flat :!: I wonder what is going on with her? :?:

Anyhow, my doctor told me to let Arwyn CIO. I don't want to and won't... however... what am I going to do when I go back to work  :?:  :?:

Ankie you're made of steel girl!!  When I'm low low LOW on sleep like that - I want to put my head through the wall.

Wish I could help you out...  I know the girls here are going through seperation anxiety pretty heavily right now.  At night though, I give my standby chamomilla - great for teething and sep anxiety it seems.

Btw - I got bit on the cheek and the shoulder this week too.  Oh and teeth marks left in my finger...  their like little nippy puppies!!

Seriously, I'm no good at the cooking thing...maybe better than Micky, though
.

Traci: I was reading in Annabel Karmel's book that they don't recommend homo milk before age 1 because it doesn't have enough iron in it.  But you can give it to them in cereal, cooking, etc., just not as the main source of milk.
And YEAH!!!!  for cole going to sleep without you!!  Just remember they usually have a regression about 3 days later....but keep strong....your doing great!!  :)

  too cute hayley!!
Jack's afternoon nap wasn't much better....only slept 45 and woke crying..   we then had to go to DH's aunts for dinner (Ukranian Christmas dinner.....YUMMY!!)  he fell asleep on the way there   but then he played and smiled like the trooper he is the whole time we were there and then promptly fell asleep in the car on the way home!    Here's hoping for a good night (anti-jinx dance!!!)

Ankie, Jack did this to me today too!  I think I got bit about 4-5 times.  Pretty hard too! once on the shoulder and 3 times on my cheeks!    I can't imagine if he was nipping me if I was still BFing!!!    YOUCH!!!!

Cathy - the Carter is quite the looker!  Love the hair!  So blonde!

Traci - LOL at Cole, wow is he mobile!  And fingers crossed that you're at the beginning of a long improvement in nighttime sleep!

Hayley - so cute of Daniel!

Ankie - ugh....and (((hugs))) to you.  Hope those teeth come in quick and relatively painlessly....you've still got a few months before you go back, so don't panic yet!   Could you switch nights maybe - so one of you could actually get a full night's sleep and then wouldn't be so wiped out to deal with her at night?  I can't imagine how hard it must be for you and DH right now with so little sleep!  Stupid doctor.

Michelle - poor Molly  :(  Hope she feels better soon!  Katie's one ear inefction was no fun, can't imagine 4!

Kate- never heard of Meal Makers or whatever they're called - have to check into it and see if anything like that exists around here.

Interesting about bottles.  My nephew turns 1 next week and my sister is determined that his bottles will all go away at that point.  Of course, she puts him down for naps/bedtime with one, so I think she'll have quite the fight on her hands with that one.  I can see how she got there though - such an easy fix at the time!

Interesting too about the organic viewpoints.  Always love to see what others have to say.

Oh, we've been doing short AM nap and long PM nap here too the past week or so - you would think all of our LOs are talking to each other too - babywhisperedbabies.com?

Well ladies, I think you'll be seeing a lot of me this week (not like you don't already!) as DH is off to Vegas tomorrow morning for a sales meeting and won't be back until late Thursday.  Ugh.

Micky-I give Cole iron supplement since i'm still breastfeeding.  And he gets cereal with 2 of 3 meals...that is iron fortified.  I wonder then, why couldn't I just do HOMO milk and supplement still?  I thought the 1 year recommendation had to do with allergies as opposed to iron.  that would make sense to me.  I'm really leaning towards starting him...but will talk to my ped this week.  I mean, it only has to be one milk feed...just so i can get out of the house and I can start to wean him, in case it takes a while.

an update...heard him stir a couple of times but no wakings yet.  been down 3 hours...

Ankie girl-you deserve some kind of medal.  Have you tried leaving the room and reassuring from outside?  just curious.  not sure if you saw my post but i was successful tonight getting cole to sleep without me.  maybe, just maybe she is waking just to BE with you guys. just a thought.  sorry it's not much but maybe something to consider.
