Good luck newmum.  Hopefjully you'll be okay.  Adalyn did that when she was much younger than yours and she made it through without any major problems.  Let us know how it went.

Per my last post, we're having terrible NW, between 2-4 hrs almost every night.  Can't figure out what she needs.  Ears are cleared up so it's not that.  Seh does have another molar coming in, but that didn't stop her from sleeping well when we went on vacation.

we are in the land of ew here!  they suck!  they happen on the 2nap days as well as 1 nap days now....argh!  What is amazing is that ds is very quietly lying down in the crib in the am rubbing his lovie for about 45min! (we now have a video monitor)...at least he is resting when up early.  I sometimes wonder if it is because of a very saturated diaper.  we are using night time huggies or a size bigger and he still overflows!  The thing is falling apart by the time I get to him (I put it on at 6:30pm and get him out of it when i get him up at 6:30am) :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Just checking in...

Babyre, NW are the worst.  I never would have thought babies woke up at night at this age.  Very naive!  I would think it's the molar.  Unless she's made it through molars before with no NW.  Maybe she was so pooped while on vacation, she slept through the pain.   :-\

We are back to 2 naps.  After 3 days of 1 nap, he started to get OT - NW, EW.  So... not ready.

Deb, Still hoping to get longer nights.   :)  Maybe, like you said, after a while...   :)

Carmela's mom, How long is A time?  I was thinking go longer too.

We found out yesterday that we are having a girl.  :)  Very excited.

ORowland, I have wondered about the waking them up too.  Don't want to think about it.  I can't get a PM nap if we go 45 min or longer in the AM.

hmm, well I don't know Sami, we are still all over the place!

did I mention I think Noah is getting a 2nd year molar on the back right  :o   he is only 18months old!

we had avery strange and LONG NW last night
everything about yesteray was normal

yet he woke at 12:15 couging and was up for over two hours, never crying, just restless and then quiet and restless, quiet etc. I didn't know if I should check on him or not, every time I though he was back to sleep---I would hear him again :-\
so he then slept til 7:45 (but he still only had about 10hrs last night)
nap was 12:15-2:30 and I woke him
this is where I hate NW, I mean I know he needs to catch up from not such a great night but then you sort of run out of hours to do so.
bed 7pm, talked and fell asleep around 7:30pm or so.

Hmm well, I think we're improving.. have had 4 nights out of the last 8 with no NW, but wake up is still very early.

I've accepted now that 2 nap days are more disruptive than they are helpful - they do seem to help in the very short term but they make it harder to get back into a comfortable 1 nap pattern. Have also taken notice of the fact that Ollie seems to be able to go much longer in the morning than he can after his nap, so have shortened pm A times and lengthened am ones.
Have decided to stick to 11am lunch, 12pm nap (sometimes this has been 1hr40, other times 1hr15) and 5:30ish bedtime for a few days and see what happens.

Will report back if we have any success!
To those having horrible NW, you have my total and utter sympathy. Big hugs to you all xx

Well after not napping all day yesterday only NW was 45Min's after bedtime took about 30Min's to get back to sleep and was really not a happy girl at all.  She woke at 6am which was not too bad, I figured we simply had to do 2 naps but Lily thought otherwise and just took the 1 nap of about 50Min's, woke up had a poop and would not go back to sleep again (never does with poopy nappy or if I try to change her and put her back down) so I thought we would try to squeeze in a catnap at 4.30, nope, so a very frazzled mummy had her in bed by 6pm after a hasty dinner and wet one strip wash again  ::)

We are going to officially ditch the 2 naps even tho I'm quite sure shes not actually ready but as you said MommaHolmes, 2 nap days are just a nightmare.  It seems the way with Lily thinking back she ditched her late afternoon catnap about 2 months before she was able to cope with the longer A times and less day sleep.  Early bedtimes will be the order of things I think for some time.  The only trouble is the earlier dinner is the earlier she wakes next day after a while and I really don't think I can cope with a 5am-5pm day  :(

I've just realised she went down at 6pm and its now 7pm so no 45min wake up  ;D Keep your fingers crossed that we will have no NW's and earliest 6am wake up in morning.

Try to remember all, while the early bedtime thing seems so sucky...i found it was only necessary mostly when dd was still transitioning.  I stuck to 630pm for weeks, and it has only been in the last 2wks or so that she has pushed her bedtime to a safe (for now) 715pm ...in the crib at 7pm.

Having just said that, i have completely jinxed myself and dd for any good sleep for a few days to come!  I try not to talk about her routine outloud because im scared it will go away or change!  lol!

I'd like to say i have answers or suggestions for all of you, but really our transition was just as funky.  I say, just try to hang in there and help them thru it.  We can't make them sleep one second sooner than we'd like or for as long....and they probably feel just as muddled themselves inside!

Have a nice weekend all!

Hi All, We are back form a week away which went surprisingly well. We had some 1 nap days (2hrs) and some 2x 30 min nap days and even had later wake ups!! Now that we are back Isabella is teething her eye teeth and is really struggling with them. She was up from 11pm to 1am last night and then slept until 8.30 this morning. Wasn't sure where to go after that so thought I'd go with her as she is not feeling well (cold too), she started to tlook tired at 1pm so she went up and straight to sleep until 3.30. SHe asked for her bath at 7pm, but then refused to go to bed until 8pm. Not sure if it was OT or not ready. I wanted to give her chance to ctach up from last night, but maybe after an 8.30 start she just wasn't ready???

Do all your LOs play if they aren't ready to sleep? Isabella either goes straight to sleep, fusses for a little while or outright refuses. She just cries and cries. Even if I hold her she just screams and leans towards the door. Last night she was even retching in my arms where she was crying so much. As soon as I took her out of the room she was happy!!! I never used to ler her out of her room, but when she gets so upset I don't know what to do. I'm hoping it's the teething and being back home that is messing us up a bit. Same again tonight, brough her out of the room for 20 mins and then she went back in fine?????

Yes, today Adalyn played for almost 45 min, (belly bothering her) then she pooped, changed diaper,a nd right to sleep.

Although, she does play when she is too wound up to settle herself too.

Thank you. It seems that most of your LOs do that, glad you said she does it when wound up as I was wondering if Isabella fought because she is OT and would be playing if UT.

I actually think it is when she is not really ready or something is bothering her as usually OT means she is too tired to fight! xx

Lily never really plays at bedtime, she will talk to herself sometimes if not quite ready for sleep and I find I have to go up every so often and lay her back down just to remind her what shes in cot for  ::)  She will play before naps though and generally its not a good sign, once she is in play mode she generally will refuse the nap and I struggle to know if its because she was not ready for sleep or if OT and I should of put her down sooner.  At bedtime if OT she generally passes out like a light but then almost always wakes up after 45min and then does the screaming crying cant get to sleep bit.

Well after our rough couple of days she had 1 nw last night at about 11pm till 12am.  Woke at 6am this morning and has gone down for 1 nap at 10.45.  I really hope today wasn't the day she should/would of taken 2 naps, we will see.  I think providing she doesn't have a poop when she stirs, she is so tired that I could probably get her back to sleep, so once again I'm keeping my fingers crossed  ::)

If my DS isn't going to sleep on his own, there is NOTHING I can do to get him to sleep, or back to sleep if he wakes.

oh good (sorry!) it's not just us!

One more thing....when you guys say 'play' what do they do?? Do they have things in their cot to play with or do they amuse themselves?

TIA xx
