I would try for the longer A time in the morning, as ultimately you will end up moving back to one nap and that seems sliiiightly closer to where you might want to be :) For her to manage one nap successfully, she will need to be able to cope with 5.5hrs A time in the morning (this is a long term goal - not something to stress about now!).

Don't let the experimentation with A times go on for too long though, the sooner you can pick something and stick to it the better.

Hope you have a good night  :-*

Already 1 NWw, 30 mins after bedtime.

Though unlike last night, she went right B2S.

Last night:

5:30pm Bedtime
6pm- 1st NW, 1 PD and Paci B2S
8pm- 2nd NW, 1 PD and Paci B2S
9:45pm- 3rd NW, 1 PD and Paci B2S
5:15am- 4th NW, WI/PD/WO til 6am

I'm tired, and she seems to have gotten my cold  :(

Today my plan is nap at 9:25am, and then next nap about 3.15 after.

I think soon we're going to start having trouble with a later bedtime, as the naps won't be fitting into the day.

Hey, that's not bad - she slept with no NW for a good long stretch last night.
What time will you aim for bedtime?

I'm aiming for bedtime as early as possible, but it gets tricky when she gets up from a nap in the afternoon after 3pm (not that she sleeps that long, but I can dream).

Yesterday I put her to sleep after 3 hours A time, but she still woke 30 mins later.  I didn't think she'd go to sleep earlier.

I think if she's taking 2 naps then a too early bedtime might just reinforce the early wakes as she's already getting around 12 hours sleep a night.
If she can last til 6 or 6:30 without getting too OT then maybe it would be worth holding her off until then.
What time was bedtime when she was on 2 naps before?

I don't know- she was OT last night for bedtime at 5:30pm (only 3 hours A time), so I don't know that she could make it til 6pm/6:30pm.

Bedtime was 7pm for a long time- with no NWs (and 3 short naps).  When we moved to 2 naps (around 9 mos), I think bedtime was still early 6ish.

This morning I planned to put her down at about 9:15am, but she started rubbing her eyes around 9:05am so I got nervous about an OT nap and rushed her off.  She fell asleep at 9:15am, and slept 40 mins til 9:55am.  I think her rubbing her eyes is only the beginning of her signs, and I may need to wait a little longer to get a decent nap.

I'm aiming for 1:10pm for the next nap.

You know her best - if she struggled to make it to 5:30 last night then keep it early, it was just a thought  :)

OK so this afternoon she slept 40 mins, asleep by 1:18pm and up at 1:58pm.  I managed to extend it til 2:38pm, but what is going on?  Is she just OT so her naps will be 40 mins for awhile?

Yesterday's nap after 4 hours 5 mins was 45 mins, today's nap was 40 mins after 3 hours 25 mins.

Should I stop analyzing?

Grrrrrrrr

If she's getting around 12 hours at night, and then two naps of 40 mins, that's almost 13.5 hours which is about right for her age.

Is naptime stressful? Is she crying before or after? If not, then I think she's doing fine. Keep doing what you're doing and hopefully her nights will settle down too.

Either way, you should DEFINITELY stop analysing! It's not good for your mental health and TBH, you ain't gonna solve this puzzle, however hard you think about it!

The last couple of nights, she hasn't been getting 12 hours.  More like 10, interrupted.

And I'm SCREAMING here, b/c it's 6:15pm and I've been trying to get her to sleep since 5:30pm.

I don't know what I am doing wrong.  Just not cut out for this I guess.

*hugs*  Hang in there.  You are frustrated.  You are cut out for this. It is just really hard sometimes. I have sat on the floor and cried with my DS...  more than once.   ::)  Its normal to get frustrated.  *hugs*

My son did the short naps thing too.  We extended his naps slowly over time using wake to sleep.  It takes awhile so be patient.  And when his naps improved he slept later in the morning.

OMG- I can't take it anymore.  Less and less sleep for all of us...

Last night, had her in bed at 5:30pm and she would not go to sleep.
6:20pm asleep
8pm 1st NW- 1 PD and B2S
9:25pm 2nd NW- Screaming bloody murder, and would not let me put her down.  I had to hold her for awhile before she calmed down, then gave some ibuprofen and she went B2S about 10:30pm
5:11am Awake, crying and would not go B2S

What do I do?  I need a plan, I'm desperate.

Oh crikey Leslie HUGE HUGS  :-*

I think you just need to decide on 2 nap times at present and stick to them.  Now really I have no idea what times will get good naps but I think expecting 2 x 45min naps is probably all your going to get.  So if I where you I would maybe try something like this and I would stick to it regardless of everything else going on, give it time to stick and her body clock the chance to settle down.

9.45am to 10.30am nap#1
2.00pm to 2.45pm nap#2
6.15pm bedtime

Like I said I can't guarantee those timings will be right but if you just stick with it, things should improve.  The more OT they are the better they cope when you just offer the exact same thing every day without fail, the more you juggle with their routine trying to correct what you think went wrong yesterday the worse things get.  Trust me it took me a good month before that sunk in and I stopped trying to fix things and just stuck with my plan and things just got better and better then.

I would also rule out teething from upsetting things by giving a dose of meds 30mins before naps and bedtime for 3 days solid, whether I was sure it was teething or not, if you think about it if you are really OT yourself it would only take a tiny amount of pain or discomfort to prevent you from going to sleep.

So here's the latest...

5:11am Awake
9:16am-9:52am Nap 1 (5 mins more A time, and 5 mins less nap than previous 2 days; managed to extend add'l 10 mins to 10:02am)
1:21pm-2:27pm Nap 2
5:45pm Bedtime

She keeps falling asleep by I kept waking her with coughing so I sent hubby in to deal with her.  Suspect she'll be asleep by 6:10pm.

Around 4pm the past 2 days, she starts to get hyper.  Had she gotten used to the 4:50pm bedtime?  B/c I'd be happy to put her down then, I just didn't think she'd go to sleep.
