*Hugs*

LeSorl,

Are you extending with wake to sleep?  If not try that.  So for the first nap, go in about half hour in since she only naps 45 minutes right now.  Touch her cheek or hand very lightly, just enough that she wiggles but doesn't wake up and then leave.    It will probably take a few days. If you can extend her naps, I think you will see improved night time sleep. I agree with the idea of giving motrin 30 mins before sleep times for a few days.  If she is teething, it will help.  And if she is achy from overtiredness (basically feeling like you feel!) the motrin might relieve the achies and help sleep.

I think the hyperness at 4:00 may be the effects of overtiredness.  My son gets hyper when overtired.  I would stick to your plan for now and give it a chance to work.

Lots and lots of hugs.

The good news first-

She was asleep at 6:11pm, and didn't have any NWs until...

4:11am (the bad news), when she wouldn't go b2s.  I tried for 30 mins with my hand on her back, but as soon as I would leave the room she was crying.   At 5:15am, I sent hubby in to rock her, and she fell asleep b/w 5:51am and 6:22am.

So do I keep the naps at the same clock times (9:10am and 1:20pm) or do I go by A times (4 hours from wake up for 1st nap and 3.20 hours from wake up from 2nd nap???

I hope somebody is up early and can answer my question.  I don't want to screw this poor little girl up anymore.

We're in the UK so it's lunchtime here  :)

I'd go by clock times when you are trying to stabilise a routine. I tried using A times for weeks and weeks and just ended up in more of a mess - things didn't improve for us until I started going by the clock. I know it's not perfect BW stuff, but I'm not a perfect BW mommy!

I agree - go with the clock for the moment.  It will help with consistency.  You are building a routine for her, so consistency is important. (And you probably need some consistency too right now!)  I would say "about 9:10' and "about 1:20 pm."  It doesn't have to be to the minute.  ;)

You are doing great.  :)

I always forget this is an int'l site  :)  Someone's always awake!

Put M down at 9:15am, and it's now 10:24am and she's still sleeping.  Do I continue to use the clock time (1:20pm) for the next nap?

Sorry for all the questions... I guess this is what I've been doing wrong, going by A time, not clock time.

Thank you

Great nap!!! ;D

Set your nap times at the times you think she will most likely nap - if you think 1:20 is generally going to be too early then set it a little later - maybe 2pm?

The important thing is whatever you do today, do the same tomorrow, and ideally for the rest of the week before you change anything again.

You've not done anything 'wrong' - it's just that the usual approaches don't always work when LOs get so seriously OT.

yay! Great nap!  I would follow MommaHolmes suggestion...put her down when you think she will sleep this afternoon and then stick with that time for the rest of the week.

And you have not done anything "wrong."  These lil guys are difficult to figure out.  :)

Thank you all so much for following my never-ending saga- I really appreciate all of your insights and support.

Here's how it went today:

4:11am Awake
B2S from 5:50am-6:22am
9:15am-10:30am Nap 1
1:10pm I started wind down, and she began to fight me... (despite a yawn at 1pm, and a little eye rubbing), so I gave her another 15 mins.  Still no go.  She finally went to sleep at 2:30pm (4 hours after last nap) and slept 40 mins til 3:10pm.  Was she OT or UT for this nap??
6:15pm aimed for bedtime, not asleep til about 6:30pm

My next questions-

**Should I have tried to put her to bed earliery tonight?  I didn't think she'd go to sleep with <3 hours A time.

**If she has a good morning nap, do I need to move the afternoon nap later than 1:20pm?  And if so, how much later?

**What happens when she starts waking at a reasonable hour in the morning (e.g. 6am).  What time is the first nap?

I feel like I'm living a soap opera.

Yay!  A decent nap!  It is hard to say if she was OT or UT yet because she is generally lacking sleep.  Sometimes one nap will improve before another.  It is great that you got the morning one extended. Once you have her on a routine, her naps may extend on their own but if not, you can work on lengthening with "wake to sleep."

You know her best.  If she wasn't showing signs of tiredness, I think you did fine.  She seems to have gone down pretty well - only 15 minutes to sleep.

You may end up adjusting the times of her naps once she gets over this OT state.  For example, if she sleeps in later in the morning, her morning nap might get pushed back a bit and then her afternoon one a bit.  I think right now stick to this routine for a week or so like MommaHolmes suggests.

May be 10 am or 10:30 am...it will depend on how late she pushes her morning wake ups.

I'm happy to report MORE PROGRESS!!!

Bedtime 6:30pm
Awake 5:41am with NO NWs

YAYYY!

We'll see if 9:10am and 1:20pm will be the magic nap times today.

I'm sooooooo pleased that you got a good nights sleep  ;D

Stick with the same nap times for the next week Leslie - although as she didn't go down until 2:30pm yesterday, I think you should aim for a 2pm nap, 1:20 seems a bit early.
Do this regardless of length of naps or wake up times. She may take a while to fall asleep on some occasions but that's not the end of the world.

I second that idea, same morning nap time  and 2pm afternoon nap regardless, for at least a week.  Don't be tempted to adjust things for wake up times.  Her body clock needs to set itself, just like ours does when we wake up 5mins before the alarm goes off every morning for work(back in the day that is, pre-LO!!!)

OK, so this morning she didn't go to sleep until 9:25am, and slept 42 mins, til 10:07am.

Then she didn't want to take the next nap at 1:20pm, or at 1:40pm, and I finally got her to sleep at 2:07pm... 4 hours after her naplet this morning.  I'm curious to see how long she's going to sleep.
