Rozza - Yep.  I have a 1215pm pick up from preschool as well and also a 315pm pick up from school just to throw another spanner into the works!

Quick question- DS only slept 10 hrs last night although he sttn.  Should I let him nap longer so he gets his 13 hrs?  I had been capping his naps so he only got 2 hrs of day sleep.  At 2.5 hrs he was waking 2-3x per night.

I'd probably let him nap longer if it was me but then can also cause a shorter night sleep again but better to keep on top of the OT.

Any suggestion for a second nap time?  Lewis was up for the day at 745am and we went to Costco this morning and he fell asleep on the way home so about 1140am-1215pm.  I was thinking about 330/345ish just to get anything!  May have to APOP as not convinced he's going to go down!  Amy has ballet straight after school but dh is at home so at least I can leave him at home!

cc- you are not a failure.  You are doing an amazing job!

Timmysmommy- I would leave the naps and see if he adds time to night sleep for a few nights but I am no expert!

After 1 nap yesterday my Lo woke at 4:20am, 4:45, 5:15 and 6am.  Each time he would cry or play for about 3-4 min and go back to sleep.  We started our day at 6am.  Lots of coffee for me today!  I am aiming for 4.5 A time this morning.

Rozza - I'm in the same boat. Kept having to wake DD in order to do school run. Now I wake her after 45mins or an hour so I can squeeze in a nap while DS is a nursery pm. After about 4 months of continuous EW at 5-5.30 it seems to be getting better.

Having said that this morning's nap was 15 mins (!!!!!!!) due to illness so put her down after 3hrs A time. We're 1hr10mins into this pm nap so fingers crossed we make it to BT without the grumps.

Eeek - just phoned nursery and Olly has only had a 45 min nap today! What to do?? Pick him up early and get him in a CN in the car or put him to bed early?? When I am back at work in 2 weeks I won't be able to pick him up for a CN....

What time did he nap Claire? What time are you picking him up?

Depending on these things if he falls asleep easily in the car then try a short CN if not then v. early BT! Hopefully he'll start sleeping longer there once he gets used to it!

Hi, not sure what time he went down. Prob 12.15ish so awake at 1ish. Nursery not very far away so will have to drive him around to get him off for a nap. Can pick him up anytime as I am just pottering here at home till I get him! They said he was tired this morning and tried to get him down earlier but not having any of it as the other babies were still up (err surprised?? :P). A bit OT but he hasn't eaten anything all day apart from banana! So will have to feed him up before BT and will still expect a NF  :-\

we have been doing 1 nap days here for a while now, mind you if she gets up before 6:30am then we do a c/n am and 1.5 pm nap but those are getting few and far between so now our days look like 4.5/2-2.5/5 and back to 12 hr night wayoo!! Another thing that I had to change is we had to go back to pampers for over night now even if she plays in her bed before she passes out she doen't need a bum change and no more 5am bum changes, worth the extra money for sure!!

I guess Claire you could pick him up a bit earlier, get him home & fed etc then go for a v. early BT to try to limit the OT. Might be easier than driving around to get him sleep?

Hope you got the nap sorted out Claire!  Or early BT.

Now that Ethan is feeling better, we've gone back to the 5 hour morning A, yesterday he took a 2.5 hour nap, and then BT at 6:30, slept until 5.  Not excited about the 5 am wake up, but what to do??  This morning he was up for 5 hours, sleeping now and I need him to take a nice long nap as he's going to the sitter's while I'm at the dentist.  Might get him into bed early to avoid too long of an A for bed, but dread the possibility of being up BEFORE 5am!  5am is hard enough.  I'll have to play it by ear and see how he's doing when I pick him up from the sitter's.  Maybe he'll close his eyes in the car, but usually never does.

Aaaaaaah, why do I even try and plan a strategy??

After deciding to try and push morning nap back, DS1 had another 5 a.m wake up and so was shattered by 9. I had to let him nap which he did for 1hr. Then he went thru till 3.30 and went down again for 1hr 45m. I thought (am hoping) that the good sleep might mean no ew tomorrow as I'm sure that being v OT isn't helping that. Perhaps then we can try pushing the morning nap back?

Thoughts? Is 2hrs 45 too much over the day?

Xx

It probably is but as he was up so early then was most likely needed in order to get to a decent bedtime.

On a regular basis it probably would be, but not when he really needs it!
